  • Patent number: 6477828
Abstract: A method of false twist texturing a synthetic yarn as well the thus-produced crimped yarn. In the method, the yarn is irregularly drawn in a draw zone on a draw pin and subsequently textured in a false twist zone. As a result of the irregular drawing, an open and a closed combination of filaments is alternately produced in the crimped yarn, thus creating a crimped yarn, which exhibits a thin-thick effect.

  • Patent number: 6478996
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for producing a highly oriented yarn (HOY) wherein the yarn is withdrawn from the nozzle of a spinneret at a withdrawal speed of at least 6,500 m/min. The filaments forming the yarn are drawn during their solidification, so that a highly oriented molecular structure forms in the polymer. To withstand the withdrawal tension generated by the high withdrawal speed without overstressing the filaments, the filaments are assisted in their advance before they solidify such that prior to the solidification a tensile stress relief is effective on the filaments, and that during the solidification a reduced withdrawal tension is effective on the filaments while they are drawn.

  • Patent number: 6457668
Abstract: An apparatus and method for guiding and cutting a continuously advancing yarn (1) during a package doff in a takeup device. The yarn is guided by means of a yarn guide (18) which is movable substantially parallel to a package or to a new tube (13), which is driven by a drive roll (29). Downstream of the yarn guide (18), a deflection device (2) and a suction device (37) are arranged, with the suction device comprising a pneumatic vacuum connection (46) and a cutter (47). The suction device (37) cooperates with a transfer device (42) for purposes of cutting the yarn during a package doff and receiving the loose end of the advancing yarn. To enable a gentle processing of the yarn during the package doff, the yarn guide (18) is arranged in the path of the advancing yarn upstream of the driven tube (13), and a deflection device (2) as well as the suction device (37) are arranged downstream of the driven tube.

  • Patent number: 6439498
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for winding a web of tapes or yarns to a plurality of packages, wherein a plurality of winding positions are arranged side by side on a long side of the apparatus, with at least one package being wound in each winding position. To distribute the tapes or yarns of the web, a yarn guide bar and a plurality of yarn guides are provided, the yarn guides being associated with respective ones of the winding positions. In this process, the web of tapes or yarns is guided above the winding positions in a distribution plane that extends transverse to the long side of the apparatus. The yarn guide bar is movable so as to permit unimpeded access to the winding positions in a doffing plane which is parallel to the long side of the apparatus, to facilitate doffing of the full packages with the aid of an auxiliary device which can be guided in the doffing plane.

  • Patent number: 6430912
Abstract: A yarn false twist texturing apparatus having a plurality of side by side processing stations for texturing a plurality of thermoplastic yarns, wherein at each station a first feed system withdraws the yarn from a feed yarn package, and advances the yarn to a false twist zone composed of a heater and a cooling device, as well as a twisting unit. A second feed system withdraws the yarn from the false twist zone and advances it to a takeup device. The cooling device includes a cooling tube, with the yarn spiraling in contact with its outer surface. For an intensive cooling of the yarn according to the invention, the cooling tube is cooled from the inside with a coolant flow, which flows in a direction opposite to the direction of the advancing yarn.

  • Patent number: 6421891
Abstract: A yarn texturing machine for texturing and winding a yarn, wherein the feed system withdraws the yarn from a texturing device and advances it to a takeup device. Between the feed system and the takeup system, a yarn accumulation or free space is provided for the purpose of receiving the yarn that has slackened during a package doff due to an overfeed. To withdraw the yarn reliably from the feed system, a conveying nozzle is positioned between the feed system and the free space, and the conveying nozzle includes at least one nozzle bore that is directed in the direction of the advancing yarn, so that an air stream directed through the bore toward the yarn generates a tension on the yarn in the direction of its advance. Subsequently, the yarn is blown into the free space.

  • Publication number: 20020043585
Abstract: A method and apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn, wherein the yarn is wound on a driven tube to a cross wound package. The yarn is reciprocated by means of a traversing yarn guide within a traverse stroke which is variable in its length within the package width of the cross wound package. During the winding cycle, the traverse stroke is varied between a maximum length at the beginning of the winding cycle and an end length at the end of the winding cycle by a predetermined stroke function in such a manner that in the course of the winding cycle, a certain length is associated to each traverse stroke, with the lengths of the traverse strokes being smaller than the respective wound package widths then being formed.

  • Patent number: 6315537
Abstract: The invention relates to a spin pump for conveying a liquid polymer melt. To drive the conveying means enclosed in the pump housing, a drive shaft is provided, which extends through the pump housing in a bearing bore, and which comprises an external end for connecting to a drive. To seal the outward extending drive shaft, a cooling sleeve is employed which connects in a pressure tight fashion to the pump housing. The cooling sleeve surrounds the drive shaft with a narrow gap therebetween, and the outer surface of the cooling sleeve is cooled by a coolant for increasing the viscosity of the polymer melt which enters the gap between the drive shaft and the cooling sleeve. With an increased viscosity, the melt acts to seal the gap without interfering with the rotation of the drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 6308906
Abstract: A method for winding a continuously advancing yarn to a cross-wound package on a rotating tube wherein the yarn is deposited on the tube during the winding of the package within a winding range. Directly before the winding cycle, a yarn reserve wind forming a trailing yarn end of the package is deposited outside of the winding range. In this process, the yarn is guided by a yarn guide that is movable substantially parallel to the tube surface. In accordance with the invention, the yarn guide is reciprocated at different guiding speeds for purposes of securing the trailing yarn end on the circumference of the tube with at least some yarn winds of the yarn reserve wind.

  • Patent number: 6308907
Abstract: A method and apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn to a package formed on a tubular core, wherein a traversing yarn guide reciprocates the yarn within a traverse stroke and deposits it on the package at an angle of crossing. For its reversal at the ends of the traverse stroke, the traversing yarn guide is decelerated within each reversal range by a finite deceleration from a guiding speed and is again accelerated to the guiding speed by a finite acceleration. The acceleration and deceleration of the traversing yarn guide are controlled in such a manner that the reversal ranges of the traverse strokes become greater in length as the diameter of the package increases.

  • Patent number: 6305059
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for stuffer box crimping a spun multifilament yarn, wherein the yarn is packed in a crimping device to form a yarn plug. After cooling the yarn plug, it is unraveled into a yarn. In so doing, the position of the unraveling point is adjusted by varying the withdrawal speed of the yarn. At the same time when the withdrawal speed is varied, a signal is generated for controlling at least one of the parameters of the crimping device, which influences the formation of the yarn plug, so that it is possible to produce a uniformly crimped yarn.
