  • Patent number: 6008613
Abstract: The invention concerns both a method for controlling a traversing device driven by a stepping motor and a traversing device, in which the position of a traversing thread guide which is moved to and fro within a traversing stroke is determined by the position of a rotor of the stepping motor, the rotor moving within a stator of the stepping motor with several windings. The movement of the rotor is controlled, according to the invention, by a stator flux which is determined by a stator voltage generated by means of a flux control device.

  • Patent number: 5970592
Abstract: A godet for heating an advancing synthetic filament yarn is provided, the godet comprising a plurality of stationary primary windings and, with respect thereto, a magnetically conductive, rotatably supported godet jacket. The godet jacket is coupled with the primary windings via a defined radial clearance extending between same and the side walls of the primary winding carrier for generating induced currents. The carriers are constructed such that their transformer sheets radially overlie each other in the region of their channel bottom, thereby shielding the magnetic flux outward, in particular toward the coil support.

  • Patent number: 5928579
Abstract: An apparatus and method for melt spinning a plurality of downwardly advancing multifilament polymeric yarns, and winding the advancing yarns into respective packages. Each of the advancing yarns is brought into contact with a separate yarn delivery mechanism which acts to control the yarn tension before the yarn is wound into a package. Thus, the yarn tension of all of the yarns can be made substantially the same when they are wound into packages, which permits all of the packages to have the same winding structure and the same packing density.

  • Patent number: 5922362
Abstract: The invention relates to a spin beam (1) for spinning a plurality of synthetic filament yarns and a spinning machine comprising a spin beam (1) of this type. The spin beam (1) consists of an elongate rectangular solid, which is filled with a heating medium, and the underside of which mounts two parallel rows of connections (20), each connection accommodating a spin pot (17) with a spinneret (18). From a melt supply line (23), melt is distributed to a multiple spin pump (12) for each row of connections (20), and supplied therefrom via melt distribution lines (14) to the spin pots (17) of each row. The filaments emerging from spinnerets (18) are cooled and solidified below the spinnerets (18) by directing thereto a transverse flow of cooling air. The cooling air exits from a permeable wall (33) of an air distribution chamber, the permeable wall facing one row of spinnerets, and the chambers defining a common rectangular solid.

  • Patent number: 5896976
Abstract: A yarn false twist texturing machine in which an advancing yarn is deflected by a feed yarn guide at a deflection position which is between a heater and a cooling member, and which is at an elevation outside the reach of the machine operator. The feed yarn guide is height adjustable, and it is disposed on a sliding element, which is movable upwards and downwards on a guide rail by means of a linear drive. In the event the electrical energy supply of the machine fails, the linear drive is activated by means of a control device in such a way that the sliding element and the yarn guide move downwardly to a predetermined parking position just below the yarn deflection position, so as to automatically remove the yarn from the heater and thereby prevent yarn damage.

  • Patent number: 5887323
Abstract: An apparatus and method for the production of a multicomponent yarn which is composed of several multifilament strands with differing characteristics, such as color. The individual strands are drawn in parallel and simultaneously by a pair of godets following spinning, and then crimped by compression in an air jet crimping device. According to the invention, the individual strands are spread apart from one another prior to run-off from the drawing godet in such a way that the distance in the axial direction between the run-off points of the individual strands on the godet surface is increased. This spreading of the strands assures that the strands do not intermix prior to entering the air jet crimping device.

  • Patent number: 5822971
Abstract: A heating apparatus for an advancing thermoplastic yarn, which is guided along a heated surface over heating ridges. Essential is that the heat flow to the yarn is variable, in particular by a change in height, a change in width of the heating ridges, and/or a change in the contact length with the yarn. In this connection, the heating ridges may be adjustable, and/or the path of the yarn may be made variable by yarn guides.

  • Patent number: 5816513
Abstract: A yarn takeup apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn into yarn packages and which has a rotatable winding turret which supports for rotation two winding spindles. By the rotation of the winding turret, the winding spindles are moved alternately to a winding range and a doffing range. To this end, the winding spindles are mounted on the winding turret such that the spindles are movable relative to the winding turret respectively between a radially outer position and a radially inner position by a moveable spindle mount. At the beginning of the winding operation, the winding spindles are in the outer position, and during the build of the package, an evasive movement of the winding spindle is performed by movement of its mount and/or rotation of the winding turret.
