  • Patent number: 6105896
Abstract: A package (17) is formed on a driven winding spindle (14, 15) that is mounted in cantilever fashion to a movable support (11). A contact roll (15) lies with a contact force against the circumference of the package. The contact roll is likewise mounted to a movable support (8). During the winding cycle, the center distance between the package and the contact roll is controlled by an evading movement of the contact roll or by a constant evading movement of the winding spindle as a function of the increasing package diameter. The constant evading movement of the winding spindle occurs at a variable speed. For the control, the speed is predetermined as a function of the diameter increase of the package.

  • Patent number: 6103158
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for spinning a multifilament yarn of a thermoplastic material, wherein the thermoplastic material is extruded through a spinneret to form a downwardly advancing filament bundle. The filaments then advance through a cooling device with two cooling zones. In the first cooling zone, an air stream is directed substantially transverse to the direction of the advancing filaments, and in the second cooling zone, cooling occurs by a cooling stream composed of a mixture of air and liquid, with the cooling stream flowing oppositely to the direction of the advancing filaments. The advancing filaments are gathered to form a multifilament yarn, which is then wound into a package.

  • Patent number: 6076760
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a yarn winding machine, wherein a yarn is wound at a constant speed to a package on a driven winding spindle. A contact roll lies against the surface of the package. To enable an increasing package diameter, the center to center distance between the contact roll and the winding spindle is changed as a function of a variation in the rotational speed of the contact roll. To this end, the variation of the rotational speed of the contact roll is measured in each of a sequential series of predetermined time intervals T and converted into a control signal for changing the position of either the winding spindle or the contact roll.

  • Patent number: 6070827
Abstract: A yarn winding machine for winding a continuously advancing yarn to a package, wherein the package is wound on a tube mounted on one of two winding spindles. The winding spindles are mounted in cantilever fashion for rotation on a spindle turret. To be able to perform a yarn transfer from a full package mounted on one of the winding spindles to an empty tube mounted on the other winding spindle by rotating the spindle turret, the winding machine includes a yarn transfer device, which is rotated from an idle position to a deflecting position. The deflecting position is defined by a stop arranged on the spindle turret, so that during the rotation of the spindle turret the deflecting position is varied according to the rotation of the spindle turret.

  • Patent number: 6065712
Abstract: A method and apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn, wherein the yarn is wound into a package that is formed on a tubular core, the yarn being traversed by a yarn guide within a traverse stroke. At the beginning of each traverse stroke, the yarn guide is accelerated within a reversal length to a guiding speed, and after traversing the traverse length it is decelerated within a second reversal length. The acceleration and/or deceleration of the yarn guide are controllable, so as to modify the yarn deposit in the package edges.

  • Patent number: 6045084
Abstract: A method of winding a continuously advancing yarn to form a package, and so as to define an initial winding time T and a normal winding time. During the normal winding time a contact roll is positioned to lie against the surface of the package being formed, and the winding spindle speed is controlled by the contact roll. During the initial winding time T, however, the rotational speed of the winding spindle is controlled by a speed change function, which associates in the course of the winding cycle a certain winding spindle speed to each package diameter, while maintaining a constant yarn speed during the winding.

  • Patent number: 6045081
Abstract: A method and apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn at a constant winding speed to form a cross-wound package on a driven tube. During thread-up of the yarn onto the tube, the yarn is caught outside of the winding range in a catching device rotating at the rotational speed of the tube, and initial layers of the yarn are then wound on the tube. The yarn is guided by a movable yarn guide, which is connected to a drive, and the movement of the yarn guide is controlled as a function of the rotational speed of the tube such that upon reaching the winding speed the yarn is caught and the initial layers thereof are wound. To this end, the rotational speed of the tube is sensed by means of a sensor and supplied to a controller that controls the drive of the yarn guide.

  • Patent number: 6027064
Abstract: A yarn winding machine and a method of winding a continuously advancing yarn to a package. In this process, a rotary blade type traversing apparatus reciprocates the yarn by oppositely driven rotary blades along a curved guiding edge transversely to the direction of yarn advance. The shape of the guiding edge determines the position of the yarn respectively on the guiding rotary blade, so that the yarn is displaced on the package at a predetermined traversing speed. In accordance with the invention, the configuration or shape of the guiding edge can be varied during the winding, so that the traversing speed is decreased or increased.

  • Patent number: 6027061
Abstract: A yarn winding machine for winding an advancing yarn to form a yarn package which is formed on a driven winding spindle that is mounted in a projecting manner on a rotatable revolver. The package is engaged on its circumference by a pressure roll which exerts an abutment force on its surface. The winding spindle is supported on a mobile carrier which is mounted on the revolver. During the build of the package, the axial spacing between the package and the pressure roll is changed as a result of an evasive movement, it being possible for the evasive movement to be accomplished in several stages by the movement of the carrier while the revolver is fixed, or by the rotation of the revolver while the carrier is fixed, and so that the abutment force exerted by the pressure roll can be changed.

  • Patent number: 6027063
Abstract: A yarn winding machine for winding a plurality of yarns on a corresponding number of winding tubes. Each winding tube is associated with a contact yarn guide in a contacting position for threading the yarn. By means of a threadup device which includes, a threadup yarn guide moving along a guideway and stationary contact yarn guides, the yarns are distributed from a threading position to the contacting position. • Patent number: 6027060
Abstract: A method of winding a yarn to a cylindrical cross-wound package in a step precision wind, wherein the diameter of the cross-wound package that is to be wound in one step is divided on the circumference by an integral number of divisions into several band widths. Each of the band widths is filled with a predetermined number of yarns with a predetermined overlap to form a layer. After completing a layer, a new division is made on the package circumference. In the event that a higher number of divisions results, a new winding ratio is computed and wound in the subsequent step of the winding process.

  • Patent number: 6024320
Abstract: A winding apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn to a package. In this process, the yarn is reciprocated by means of a rotary blade type traversing apparatus along a predetermined traverse stroke. In so doing, the yarn is alternately guided within the traverse stroke along a guiding edge of a main guide plate and along an opposite guiding edge of an auxiliary guide plate. The guiding edge of the main guide plate and the opposite guiding edge of the auxiliary guide plate extend through the traversing plane in opposite directions. The auxiliary guide plate is movable transverse to the traversing plane such that the opposite guiding edge of the auxiliary guide plate extends to a lesser extent or does not extend through the traversing plane.

  • Patent number: 6012912
Abstract: An apparatus for spinning, drawing, and winding a synthetic filament yarn, wherein the yarn is subjected during its drawing in a draw zone to a multi-stage heat treatment by heated surfaces. In the first heat treatment, the yarn is heated to the range of the glass transition temperature of the yarn material, and the yarn is guided over the heating surface while partially looping thereabout. The second stage of the heat treatment is formed by an elongate heating surface, and at least one of the heating surfaces is heated to a surface temperature above the melt point of the yarn material. In the draw zone, the yarn is subjected to a tension, which is necessary for a plastic deformation in or directly downstream of the first stage of the heat treatment. The process performed by the apparatus causes the yarn to be drawn and set.
