  • Patent number: 6283401
Abstract: A method and apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn, wherein the yarn is wound on a driven tube to a cross-wound package, with the yarn being reciprocated by a traversing yarn guide within a traverse stroke. The length of the traverse stroke is periodically changed, each time with a modified stroke cycle, with the yarn being deposited at the beginning of the modified stroke cycle in a starting reversal point on the outer edge of the cross-wound package. To prevent the yarn from being deposited on the circumference of the package at the same point after completion of the modified stroke cycle, the speed and/or the traverse stroke of the traversing yarn guide are controlled such that after completing the modified stroke cycle, the yarn is deposited at an end reversal point on the outer edge of the cross-wound package which is offset from the starting reversal point at the beginning of the modified stroke cycle.

  • Publication number: 20010009053
Abstract: A yarn texturing machine for texturing and winding a yarn, wherein the feed system withdraws the yarn from a texturing device and advances it to a takeup device. Between the feed system and the takeup system, a yarn accumulation or free space is provided for the purpose of receiving the yarn that has slackened during a package doff due to an overfeed. To withdraw the yarn reliably from the feed system, a conveying nozzle is positioned between the feed system and the free space, and the conveying nozzle includes at least one nozzle bore that is directed in the direction of the advancing yarn, so that an air stream directed through the bore toward the yarn generates a tension on the yarn in the direction of its advance. Subsequently, the yarn is blown into the free space.

  • Patent number: 6241177
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn at a constant winding speed to a package on a rotating tube. The tube is mounted on a driven winding spindle. Before the winding cycle, a yarn guide moves the yarn from a threading position to a transfer range for transferring it to the yarn traversing device. In so doing, a transfer tail wind is produced on the tube outside of the traverse range. In accordance with the invention, the speed of the yarn guide is controlled as a function of the winding speed such that a certain number of winds are deposited on the tube for producing the transfer tail wind.

  • Patent number: 6161790
Abstract: A method and apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn to form a package, wherein the package is wound on a driven winding spindle that is mounted in cantilever fashion on a movable spindle support. A contact roll lies with a contact force against the circumference of the package. The contact roll is likewise mounted on a movable support, and during the winding cycle, the center distance between the package and the contact roll is increased by a deflection of the spindle support. In this process the drive of the spindle support is controlled by means of a control device which is connected to a sensor that detects the lift of the contact roll. In accordance with the invention, the drive of the spindle support is driven at a deflection speed when the contact roll is outside of its desired range, and at a lower reversing speed when the contact roll is in its desired range.

  • Patent number: 6141843
Abstract: An apparatus and a method of stuffer box crimping a synthetic multifilament yarn, wherein the yarn is advanced in a conveying nozzle by means of a heated conveying gas into a stuffer box and compressed to a yarn plug. At the outlet of the stuffer box, a pair of rolls form a conveying gap for advancing the yarn plug and which has a width smaller than the cross section of the plug leaving the stuffer box so as to compress the yarn plug. The internal passage of the stuffer box is constructed with a cross section that increases in the direction of advance in such a manner that no significant cohesive force develops on the yarn plug, and the resistance to the forward pressure in the yarn plug resulting from the heated conveying gas is provided essentially only by the force on the yarn plug generated by its compression in the conveying gap.

  • Patent number: 6111235
Abstract: In a godet for advancing and guiding an advancing synthetic filament yarn, the bearing housing for supporting a shaft consists of an inner bearing support and an outer cooling body, which are in a heat conducting contact with each other. Cooling of a bearing within the bearing support is enhanced because the material of the cooling body has a coefficient of thermal conduction which is greater than the coefficient of thermal conduction of the bearing support material. In a heated godet, a cup-shaped godet casing fits over the end of the shaft, and a stationary hollow cylindrical support is fit over the shaft within the godet casing. An annular space is defined between the support and the shaft, and a heating element is mounted to the circumference of the support. The bearing housing at least partially defines openings that provide cooling air to the annular space.
