  • Patent number: 10106297
Abstract: A bag has a bag body that defines an interior and opening. A reclosable closure repeatably closes the opening. A header includes a covering flap connected to the bag body and has upwardly and inwardly angled side edge margin. Zones of weakness defining a tear strip extend across the covering flap. The covering flap can be attached to the bag body while covering the closure. To access the closure, the tear strip is torn away. The bag can also have a removable panel, which can be attached to the removable panels of other bags to form a header pack. The bag body and covering flap can be removed from the header pack by being torn along another zone of weakness between the covering flap and removable panel that has a lower tear strength than the zones of weakness defining the tear strip.

  • Patent number: 10053263
Abstract: An envelope has an envelope body formed by opposing panels that define an interior and an opening. A closure is joined to and extends up from the top margin of one panel. The envelope is configured such that the interior surface of the closure is sealable to the other panel to permanently close the envelope opening. The closure includes a closure panel and a tear band coextruded with the closure panel. The tear band is composed of a polymeric material having lower tear strength than the material of the closure panel. The tear band defines a zone of weakness extending along the width of the closure for opening the closure by tearing along the zone of weakness after it is permanently closed.

  • Publication number: 20180148256
Abstract: A receptacle liner for gripping the receptacle and method of making. A liner may be formed by one or more panels including at least one resilient segment extending from a bottom to a top of the liner. The liner segment can be coextruded so that the resilient segment is made from resilient material and other portions of the liner are made from another material that is less resilient. When the liner is placed in a receptacle, the liner can be expanded by resiliently stretching the resilient segment so that the liner may apply a gripping force to the receptacle. The liner can include gusseted side panels. A mouth can be formed as a recess in the top ends of front and rear panels and extend through the gusseted side panels to define handle portions and form apertures in the handle portions that open to the mouth.

  • Patent number: 9931450
Abstract: An adaptor, system, and method for collecting for a breast pump. A breast milk bag has a hole adjacent an end margin. The bag can have a reclosable seal and a zone of weakness for separating a sealed portion from a header. An adaptor has inlet end and an outlet end and defines a flow passage. The inlet end is securable to the outlet of the breast pump so liquid therefrom can flow through the flow passage. A slot extends through the adaptor wall to at least partially define a retainer for extending through the hole to mount the bag on the adapter. In a method of use, the bag is secured to the adaptor using the retainer, filled with breast milk, sealed while secured to the adaptor, and the sealed portion of the bag can be removed by tearing the bag along the zone of weakness.

  • Patent number: 9932150
Abstract: A closure for closing a bag and a die head and method for making the closure. The closure includes two closure members having support walls and mating interlocking profiles. The support walls are resilient and have self-retaining forms in vertical section including middle sections curving outwardly away from one another when mounted on a bag. Top portions of the support walls extend outwardly away from one another to form gripping panels when the closure is closed. A die head for forming a closure member includes a body that defines a slot including a support wall segment for forming the support wall of the closure member. The support wall segment includes first and second portions oriented transverse to one another and intersecting at a vertex. To form the closure member, polymer is extruded through the slot and quenched.

  • Publication number: 20180065801
Abstract: A liner for lining a receptacle has a front panel and a rear panel that define an interior and a top opening in fluid communication with the interior. A frangible sizing seal structure joins together the front and rear panels along the top of the liner adjacent a side of the liner. The sizing seal structure limits a size of the liner opening and is configured to be selectively broken to separate the front and rear panels to enlarge the size of the liner opening so that the top edge margin fits over a rim of the receptacle. In a method of making the liner, the front and rear panels are sealed together to form the frangible sizing seal structure.

  • Patent number: 9890009
Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing bags from a roll includes a base, a bag separator, and a swing arm pivotably mounted on the base that includes a roll retaining portion shaped and arranged for being received in an axial opening of the roll. The swing arm is pivotable with respect to the base about a pivot axis in a braking direction in which the roll retaining portion travels toward the base. A spring is operatively connected between the swing arm and the base to bias the swing arm in the braking direction whereby, when the roll retaining portion is received in the axial opening, the roll retaining portion engages the roll and urges the roll into braking engagement with the base.

  • Patent number: 9815238
Abstract: A system and method for extruding film with a thickened profile section. In some embodiments, the film forms bags with integral zipper profiles. Plastic film is extruded to form a tube. During extrusion, cooling jets direct cooling gases toward the thickened profile section below the frost line to preferentially cool the thickened profile sections. In some embodiments, warm air is drawn out of the tube interior through hot air intakes located below the frost line. In certain embodiments, the film is extruded at a higher rate of speed than conventional processes. Likewise, the extruded film tube is expanded at a lower blow up ratio than conventional processes in certain preferred embodiments. In some embodiments, the extrusion system includes an air flow surface oriented relative to the film tube to define an air flow gap of substantially uniform thickness.
