  • Patent number: 4520280
Abstract: An input signal containing a base line which fluctuates to a great extent is detected or restored by comparing the input signal with reference levels which are shifted in accordance with the fluctuation of base line. The input signal is sampled at a variable sampling rate and an average of sampled values for a predetermined period is derived to produce a profile signal which resembles accurately the fluctuation of the base line. The profile signal thus obtained is added to upper and lower threshold voltages to produce the reference levels which have been corrected in accordance with the fluctuation of the base line of input signal.

  • Patent number: 4518247
Abstract: An electrophotographic copying machine having a photosensitive drum is disclosed. Around the drum there are arranged a corona charger for uniformly charging the drum, an optical system for projecting an image of a document onto the uniformly charged drum to form an electrostatic charge latent image, a magnetic brush developing device for developing the latent image with a two component dry developing agent to form a toner image, a transferring device for transferring the toner image onto a record paper to form a duplicated copy, and a cleaning blade for collecting a residual toner on the drum to form a toner accumulation. When the cleaning blade is separated from the drum, the toner accumulation on the drum is transported toward the developing device as the drum continues to rotate and is collected into the developing device for the recovery. The cleaning blade is separated from the drum at a timing determined by a length of record papers to be used. A continuous duplication can be performed efficiently.

  • Patent number: 4486787
Abstract: An intelligent copier for readily performing image enlargement, reduction, synthesis, and editing. In the intelligent copier, an SIT (Static Induction Transistor) image sensor in which a plurality of SIT image cells are arranged two-dimensionally pixel by pixel in the same substrate is used as an image sensor for picking-up the image of a document. It is not necessary to use an expensive mass storage memory for storing the image information, because the SIT image sensor can perform a nondestructive readout, so that the copier can be made small in size and inexpensive in cost.

  • Patent number: 4458890
Abstract: A stack of sheets such as documents to be fed one by one from the lowermost sheet is clamped between a lower feeding roller rotated in a given direction and an upper pressing roller whose shaft is loosely inserted in an elongated hole formed in a bearing secured to a rotatable arm. A coiled spring is connected between a free end of the arm and a fixed body of the apparatus to rotate the arm in such a manner that the pressing roller is urged against the stack of sheets with a large force due to the strong restoring force of the spring and the gravitational force of the pressing roller. A stopper plate is arranged in a rotational movement path of the arm at such a position that when a thickness of the stacked sheets has decreased to a given value, the rotation of the arm is inhibited by an engagement of the arm and stopper plate.

  • Patent number: 4457993
Abstract: An electrophotographic process for forming a given number of copies of an original once formed on a photosensitive member including a conductive drum, a photoconductive layer applied on the drum and an insulating layer applied on the photoconductive layer. The photosensitive member is first subjected simultaneously to a uniform exposure and a primary charging in one polarity, and then is subjected simultaneously to an imagewise exposure and a secondary A.C. charging. Next, the photosensitive member is subjected to a secondary uniform exposure with a reduced light intensity to such an extent that the charge image has an electrostatic contrast which is about 60 to 90 percent of the maximum attainable value. During the formation of copies by repeated development and transfer, the photosensitive member is subjected to an additional uniform exposure to restore the deterorated charge image.
