  • Patent number: 4451135
Abstract: A toner concentration detecting device for detecting the toner concentration of a dry-type, two-component developer including a transparent plate arranged to be brought into contact with the developer, a light source for projecting light toward the developer through the transparent plate, and a light receiving element for receiving light scattered by the developer through the transparent plate. The transparent plate is separated optically by cutting it along a plane bisecting the light source and the light receiving element. In such a construction, multiple reflection inside the transparent plate which affects the resulting measurement can be completely eliminated, and thus it is possible to detect the toner concentration in an accurate and uniform manner.

  • Patent number: 4449241
Abstract: A toner cleaning apparatus for use in an electrophotographic copying machine in which a photosensitive drum is rotated for a few revolutions after transferring, onto a record paper, a toner image obtained by developing an electrostatic latent image with toners, in order to remove residual toners from the drum and to prepare the drum for the next duplicating operation. A cleaning device, such as a fur brush, is arranged movably with respect to the photosensitive drum and is separated from the drum after the end of a copying operation, but before the drum is stopped. The cleaning fur brush is removed from the drum at such a timing that the pictorial area on the drum surface has just passed through the cleaning fur brush and thus, residual toners on the drum can be effectively removed. By shortening the time duration in which the cleaning fur brush is brought into contact with the photosensitive drum, the drum can be protected against injury, deterioration and filming.

  • Patent number: 4444859
Abstract: An electrophotographic process for forming an electrostatic latent image in a photosensitive member. The photosensitive member is formed by applying, on a transparent conductive substrate, a transparent insulating layer and a photoconductive layer, which photoconductive layer is composed of a charge transfer layer and charge generation layers applied on both surfaces of the charge transfer layer. The charge transfer layer has a high mobility for charges of positive polarity. At first, the photosensitive member is negatively charged, while the member is uniformly irradiated from the side of the substrate. Then the photosensitive member is positively charged, while the member is exposed to a positive image of a document from the side of the photoconductive layer. Finally, the photosensitive member is exposed to a negative image of the document from the side of the photoconductive layer to form the electrostatic latent image from charges trapped across the insulating layer.

  • Patent number: 4444598
Abstract: A method for washing a U-shaped reaction tube having a thick cup portion and a thin non-cup portion is disclosed. At a first washing position, a washing liquid is supplied into the cup portion of reaction tube like a shower and is simultaneously sucked via the non-cup portion of reaction tube. Then, the washing liquid is supplied again into the reaction tube to fill the tube therewith at a second washing position. Finally, at a third washing position, the washing liquid contained in the reaction tube is drained at such a relatively slow rate that the liquid level of the washing liquid descends slowly. Any drop of the washing liquid is not remained on the inner wall of test tube, and thus it is possible to effect a highly accurate analysis without being affected by contamination between sample solutions.

  • Patent number: 4413290
Abstract: In the disclosed tape recorder, an auto-off circuit detects whether tape is being advanced and produces a stop signal when the tape has reached its end. A switching arrangement responds to the stop signal to turn off the recording apparatus including the motor. A voice signal responsive circuit produces a go signal which causes the switching arrangement to turn on the recording apparatus in response to a voice signal and causes the switching arrangement to turn the apparatus off in the absence of a voice signal. A selector arrangement switches the switching arrangement so it operates either in response to the auto-off circuit or in response to the voice signal responsive circuit.
