  • Patent number: 11965611
Abstract: Provided is a threaded pipe having a pin member connecting to a box member. The pin member contains wedge-shaped pin threads that extends in a helical direction around the outside surface of its pipe end. The pin member is tapered to result in an increasing diameter of the pin threads away from the front end of its pipe. The box member contains a wedge-shaped box thread that stretches in a helical direction around the inside surface of its pipe end. The box member is tapered to result in a decreasing diameter of the box threads away from the front end of its pipe. The pin crest of the pin member increases in width along the pin thread and the box root of the box thread decreases in width along the box thread. When assembled together, the pin thread crest increases in width at a different rate than the box thread root increase in width.

  • Patent number: 11560606
Abstract: Methods of producing high strength continuously cast hot rolled steel sheet products are disclosed. The methods include continuously casting a steel slab and then hot rolling with finish rolling on a hot strip mill, quenching on the hot strip mill to form a predominantly matrensitic microstructure, and performing a thermal cycling step including soaking at an intercritical temperature followed by holding at a lower temperature. The resultant hot rolled steel sheet products have a microstructure comprising ferrite and retained austenite. Steels processed in accordance with the present invention exhibit favorable combined ultimate tensile strength and total elongation (UTS·TE) properties, and may fall into the category of Generation 3 advanced high strength steels, desirable in various industries including automobile manufacturers.

  • Patent number: 10436357
Abstract: Ends of separate tubular members used in oil and gas drilling are connected pin-to-pin by a threaded coupling and made leak tight by an internal pressure seal, wherein the male or field end pin of a first tubular member has an integral geometry designed to mate with the female or mill end pin of a second tubular member. The coupling and tubular members possess a modified buttress thread form having a negative load flank angle and a positive stab flank angle. When assembled, the coupling connects the field end pin of the first tubular member with the mill end pin of the second tubular member, wherein integral geometries of the mated pin ends generate the interference necessary to produce a single, metal-to-metal, leak-tight, internal contact pressure seal.

  • Patent number: 8755923
Abstract: A method for generating an optimized body structure is provided. A first topology optimization of a first body configuration is performed to generate a second body configuration. A subset of critical body components are identified based on load path values for the second body component and are parameterized. A second optimization is performed. The second optimization includes a low fidelity optimization for the geometry, the gauge and the grade of the critical body components, and a high fidelity optimization for the mass of each of the critical body components to generate an optimized set of critical body components. The optimized set of critical body components are combined with non-critical body components from the second body configuration to generate a final body configuration which is optimized for performance and weight.

  • Patent number: 8146733
Abstract: A contact seal to prevent contamination from fouling a conveyor idler roll, the roll generally comprising a rotatable cylinder, at least one internal bearing assembly, and a fixed axle. A disc of thermoplastic polymer or similarly resilient material is adhesively attached preferentially to an outboard end cap of the idler roll to seal out contamination. A circular aperture through the disc allows the attached seal to rotate about the idler axle. At least one ring of felt or other porous material is adhesively attached to the disc circumferentially to the aperture to filter out contamination when the ring is in frictional contact with the roll end cap. The seal is preferentially divided along the longitudinal axis of the disc to form two interlocking semicircular half-pieces that are snapped together circumferentially about the idler axle so that no disassembly or modification of the idler is required to adhesively attach the seal.
