Abstract: Coatings for a surface, especially a priming coating, of the present invention have been found to be durable, resistant to oxidative degradation, erosion and depolymerization, stable to sterilization and low particulating, and are easily applied to the required surface of a substrate in a surface-independent manner. Such coatings, when used as priming coatings to be coated with a subsequent coating, in at least some embodiments, form exterior coatings which are also highly durable and are stable to sterilization and aging.
Abstract: A breath-powered, dry powder inhaler, a cartridge, and a pulmonary drug delivery system are provided. The dry powder inhaler can be provided with or without a unit dose cartridge for using with the inhaler. The inhaler and/or cartridge can be provided with a drug delivery formulation comprising, for example, a diketopiperazine and an active ingredient, including, peptides and proteins such as insulin and glucagon-like peptide 1 for the treatment of diabetes and/or obesity. The dry powder inhaler is compact; can be provided in various shapes and sizes, colors, and comprises a housing, a mouthpiece, a cartridge placement area, and a mechanism for opening and closing the medicament cartridge. The device is easy to manufacture, provides a pre-metered single unit dose, it is relatively easy to use, and can be reusable or disposable.

Abstract: The present invention concerns polymeric-enveloped microparticles including at least one HASE type acrylic copolymer, at least one solid-liquid phase change material with a phase transition temperature ranging from 20 to 90° C., and at least one active agent. In particular, the microparticles include at least one HASE type acrylic copolymer including at least one anionic monomer with a polymerizable vinyl group and a carboxyl group, at least one non-ionic hydrophobic monomer with a polymerizable vinyl group, and at least one alkoxylated associative macromonomer with a polymerizable vinyl group and a hydrophobic hydrocarbon chain.
Abstract: A coating film comprising ethyl cellulose as a component A and an (ethyl acrylate)-(methyl methacrylate) copolymer or a plasticized vinyl acetate polymer as a component B, and having a tensile elongation of 150% or more and a tensile strength of 9 N or more.
Abstract: Disclosed are methods of preparing stable gas-in-solution emulsions by particle adsorption via electrostatic interaction, and stable emulsions prepared by particle adsorption via electrostatic interaction. Compositions and products comprising the emulsions are also disclosed. Emulsions may be stable over an extended period of time at room temperature.
Abstract: Coatings with crystallized active agent(s) and related methods are disclosed. One method includes selecting a solvent and a polymer, selecting a concentration of an active agent of at least a certain amount of saturation, forming a coating composition having the selected concentration of the active agent, and applying the coating composition to the medical device. Also disclosed is an elution control coating which includes an active agent that is at least about 80% crystallized within one week of being disposed on a medical device. One method enhances the formation of active agent crystals within a coating layer by adjusting the concentration of the active agent in the coating solution to reach some percentage of the active agent saturation point. Another method includes increasing the rate of active agent nucleation within the coating.

Abstract: Described is a controlled-release formulation for treating disturbed sleep or insomnia in a subject. The formulation is formulated to release a compound or combination of compounds in sequence at multiple stages.
Abstract: The present invention relates to nutritional supplements that provide an adult with essential vitamins and minerals that may be lacking in the adult's diet and prevent chronic diseases, such as osteoporosis. A number of combinations of nutrients in set ratios are provided to increase the body's ability to absorb and use the nutrients. These combinations are important in helping the body reach the proper balance required for maximized function. Because adults over the age of 50 years have different nutritional needs, nutritional supplements specifically designed for them are also provided.
Abstract: A pesticidal composition in the form of an aqueous emulsion contains: (a) an agriculturally active ingredient in which a retention rate is 50% or more after irradiation with xenon light (290 nm cutoff) at an intensity of 0.68 W/m2 at 340 nm for 8 hours, and a retention rate is 40% or more and 60% or less after irradiation for 56 hours; (b) a hydrophobic organic solvent; (c) a water-soluble polymer dispersing agent; and (d) water; wherein liquid droplets in which the agriculturally active ingredient is suspended or dissolved in the hydrophobic organic solvent are emulsified in an aqueous continuous phase. A weight ratio of the agriculturally active ingredient to the hydrophobic organic solvent is from 5:95 to 70:30. With this pesticidal composition, it is possible to inhibit photodegradation of the agriculturally active ingredient.
