The printing apparatus receives print data from an external apparatus through wireless communication, and determines whether or not the received print data has authentication information added thereto. When it is determined that the print data has authentication information added thereto, the image data is printed depending on reception of the authentication information from a user. Further, it is determined whether or not the level of security of an encryption method employed in the wireless communication is lower than a predetermined security level. When the print data does not have authentication information added thereto and when the level of security is lower than the predetermined security level, the printing apparatus restricts printing based on the received print data.

Abstract: Systems and methods receive user feedback during user interaction with at least one printing apparatus to record user annoyance measurements for one or more users into memory of at least one computerized device. The systems and methods automatically calculate one or more user annoyance curves for the users from the user annoyance measurements. The annoyance curves relate to one or more performance characteristics of the printing apparatus. The systems and methods automatically select a specific annoyance curve from the annoyance curves depending upon which of the users is utilizing the printing apparatus. The systems and methods automatically determine a performance characteristic level for the printing apparatus that will maintain user annoyance below a predetermined standard for each of the users using the specific annoyance curve for each user. The systems and methods automatically set components of the printing apparatus to operate so as to achieve the identified performance characteristic level.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming section, a displaying section, an in-screen operating section, an out-screen operating section, and a controller. The image forming section is configured to form an image on a sheet. The displaying section is configured to display an operation screen for image formation performed by the image forming section. The in-screen operating section is configured to accept a user's operation inside the operation screen displayed by the displaying section. The out-screen operating section is configured to accept the user's operation outside the operation screen displayed by the displaying section. The controller is configured to determine, based on a user's instruction, an operating section that accepts the user's operation from the in-screen operating section and the out-screen operating section.

Abstract: A system for printing independent of location and using a universal print module comprises a computing device having a print anywhere sending module and a printer having a print anywhere receiving module coupled by a network. The print anywhere receiving module interfaces with the printer to provide the print file and to print the file. A controller access a lookup table stored in memory to determine an upper bound and a lower bound of a subset of the color space. An output value is interpolated between the upper bound and the lower bound using interpolation values. The interpolation values of the last subset in any dimension of the color space are modified by a scale factor to approximate ideal values.

Abstract: This invention is directed to a printing apparatus, in which an extension board for PDL processing is added, capable of reducing a waiting time when returning from the power-saving mode upon reception of PDL data. After initializing the extension board, the apparatus uses the added PDL processing module together with that on the main board.
