Abstract: A method of reproducing an original document with a reproduction machine to produce a copied document, comprising the steps of: providing a marking member which contains a marking onto the reproduction machine; opening a cover unit of the reproduction machine; placing the original document on a glass surface of a glass unit of the reproduction machine; closing the cover unit so that the glass surface is covered by the cover unit; and pressing a start button of the reproduction machine to start a scanning process such that the marking and the original document are scanned together in the scanning process and are appeared in the copied document. The marking member is provided on the cover unit or the glass unit so as to make sure that the marking is well-positioned and copied in the copied document.

Abstract: A method for print portable document format (PDF) files with corrupted pages, comprising the steps of rasterizing images of non-corrupt pages but not corrupted pages of a PDF file, printing only non-corrupt pages of the PDF file, gathering and recording file and page information including which pages are non-corrupt pages and which pages are corrupted pages in the PDF file, allowing correction of the corrupted pages of the PDF file for reprint, retrieving saved file and page information for reprint of the PDF file. Based on the file and page information retrieved and print options and merge mode selected, the reprint process proceeds with rasterizing images of the corrected corrupted pages, and printing the corrected corrupted pages while merging with the already-printed non-corrupt pages to produce a complete set of print out of all non-corrupt pages and corrected corrupted pages of the PDF file in a correct sequence according to the file and page information retrieved.

Abstract: An image forming system includes plural server devices, a transmission device, and an image forming device. The transmission device includes a first memory, a selection unit, and a transmission unit. The first memory stores priorities assigned to the server devices. The selection unit selects an available server device having the highest priority. The transmission unit transmits user identification information and associated image data to the selected server device. Each server device includes a storage location for storing the transmitted identification information and image data. The image forming device includes a second memory, an acquisition unit, and an image forming unit. The second memory stores server information. Upon receipt of user identification information, the acquisition unit acquires image data associated with the user identification information from the storage location in the server device identified by the server information.

Abstract: Original image data obtained by reading an original is joined with watermark data associated with a watermark for copy control, which appears as a result of making a copy. The watermark generating section sets the spatial frequency of a chromatic halftone pattern of a foreground, which appears as a result of making a copy, lower than the spatial frequency of an achromatic halftone pattern of a foreground, which appears as a result of making a copy. Accordingly, it becomes more difficult to recognize a foreground in an original document when the foreground is generated using an achromatic color, while a foreground in the duplication is recognized clearly when the foreground is generated using a chromatic color.

Abstract: When an image processing apparatus performs a transmission function of transmitting image data generated by reading a document with a scanner, to a cost management apparatus, the image processing apparatus registers cost information and the image data in the cost management apparatus, the cost information corresponding to user's operation time incurred to perform the transmission function.

Abstract: An image recording device is provided with a first memory which is a volatile memory, a second memory, an input unit through which authentication information is input, an authentication judging unit. The recording unit is controlled to print an image on the printing sheet based on the drive data, which is converted from the image data stored in the first memory or the second memory and is stored in the first memory or the second memory. The drive data or the image data is stored in each of the first memory and the second memory is transmitted therebetween. The image recording device further includes a restricting unit capable of restricting power supply to the converting unit and the first memory in a sleep mode.

Abstract: The purpose of this invention is to avoid unnecessary print out and cut wasteful consumption of resources and electricity. A printer receives a command indicating whether or not a user does not need to print out images such as advertisements on web pages. If a drawing command acquired by analyzing received print data is image, the printer determines whether or not the command is to draw images based on the user's choice and execute a drawing process along with the command from the user. Consequently, the printer can print out text information with eliminating image information which is noise for the user and can eliminate print out for unnecessary image information.

Abstract: A document scanning apparatus for scanning a document is provided. The document scanning apparatus includes an image sensor unit which irradiates an incident light towards the document and generates image data by sensing a reflected light reflected from the document, a supporting unit which supports the image sensor unit, a movement unit which moves the image sensor unit between a scanning position and a calibration position, a housing which houses the image sensor unit, the supporting unit, and the movement unit, a transparent plate which transmits the incident light and the reflected light, a calibration sheet which is attached to a surface of the transparent plate, which is exposed to outside and is positioned in an area including the calibration position, and a housing cover which is coupled to the housing and seals inside of the housing.

Abstract: Provided are an image forming method using a universal printer driver and a device for performing the image forming method. According to the method, printing data may be output through an image forming device supporting a desired printing option, without checking printing options of image forming devices whenever the printing data is to be output, by providing a user interface displaying printing options supported by image forming devices connected to a host device in which a universal printer driver is installed; selecting at least one printing option from the provided user interface; and selecting on of the image forming devices determined to support the selected printing option and outputting printing data through the selected image forming device supporting the selected printing option.

Abstract: A correction in less than one pixel raises an issue of generation of image defect such as density unevenness caused by a destruction of a screen pattern that generates a cycle of image data. To solve this issue, an image processing apparatus includes a correction unit configured to perform a correction less than one pixel on image data, and a changing processing unit configured to perform a correction by one pixel on image data, wherein the correction unit performs processing for correction in less than one pixel by shifting a pixel according to a moving locus synchronized with a cycle of the image data.
