  • Patent number: 11957976
Abstract: This specification describes a computer-implemented method of predicting the appearance of a deformable object in a video game. The method comprises determining a configuration of a moveable object underlying the deformable object. Input data is inputted into a machine-learning model. The input data comprises a representation of the configuration of the moveable object. A model output is generated as output of the machine-learning model for predicting the appearance of the deformable object. Mesh and texture data for the deformable object is determined from the model output. The deformable object is rendered using the generated mesh and texture data.

  • Patent number: 11951373
Abstract: Methods and systems for use in automating or assisting umpiring of a baseball or softball game are described herein. A location of a strike zone is determined based on video images of a batter standing next to home plate captured by a camera. Locations of a ball traveling towards the batter, and locations of the bat being held by the batter, are autonomously tracked using computer vision based on video images captured by at least two cameras having different positions. Additionally, there are autonomous determinations of whether a location of the ball intersects with the strike zone, and whether the batter made a genuine attempt to swing the bat at the ball, and based one at least one of these determinations, there is an autonomous determination of whether a “strike” or a “ball” occurred. Additionally, an indication of whether a “strike” or a “ball” occurred is autonomously output.

  • Patent number: 11944905
Abstract: A method for regulating falls of a user-controlled character through gaps between surfaces in an extended reality (XR) space in which the user is playing a game includes compiling a record from a previously generated spatial mapping mesh (SMM) of the XR space of surfaces of real elements present in that space, with corresponding positions and dimensions; and, after the game begins, determining whether, if the character approaches a substantially vertical gap between an edge of a first surface at a first level and a second surface, at a second level lower than the first level, continuing motion of the character to fall through the vertical gap will be permitted or prevented. A similar method for regulating jumps rather than falls of a user-controlled character through gaps between surfaces in an extended reality (XR) space in which the user is playing a game is also described.

  • Patent number: 11918906
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards providing video game gameplay incorporating falling puzzle mechanics influenced by character movements within a puzzle space. In a preferred embodiment, a computer implemented method renders a game world that includes a puzzle space wherein a sequence of falling items aggregate in a puzzle formation. Players move characters within the puzzle space to remove items by colliding with them in an attempt to resolve the puzzle by clearing all items from the puzzle space. In one possible arrangement, the sequence of falling items is released according to character movements within the puzzle space. The relationship between character movements and falling puzzle items makes the game play more engaging by providing additional strategic and competitive elements to traditional falling puzzle games.

  • Patent number: 11839815
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for performing adaptive audio mixing are disclosed. A trained neural network dynamically selects and mixes pre-recorded, human-composed music stems that are composed as mutually compatible sets. Stem and track selection, volume mixing, filtering, dynamic compression, acoustical/reverberant characteristics, segues, tempo, beat-matching and crossfading parameters generated by the neural network are inferred from the game scene characteristics and other dynamically changing factors. The trained neural network selects an artist's pre-recorded stems and mixes the stems in real-time in unique ways to dynamically adjust and modify background music based on factors such as game scenario, the unique storyline of the player, scene elements, the player's profile, interest, and performance, adjustments made to game controls (e.g., music volume), number of viewers, received comments, player's popularity, player's native language, player's presence, and/or other factors.

  • Patent number: 11833418
Abstract: Systems and methods provide haptic feedback at locations of a keyboard palm rest during operation of a software program, such as a video game. During game play, a haptic event, such as an explosion, is detected within the game. A magnitude of the event and a direction of the event from a reference location in the game, such as an avatar's location, are determined. Haptic feedback locations on the palm rest are selected based on the magnitude of the event and the direction of the event from the reference location. Mechanical and thermal haptic feedback are generated at the selected locations of the palm rest, where the strength and timing of the feedback at each location are selected based on the magnitude and direction information for the event. Embodiments thus provide multi-dimensional haptic feedback that relates positional awareness to a user of events occurring within a video game.
