Abstract: A system calculates for each frontage space which is held by a plurality of shelves and in which commodities are placed, a recommended capacity value of the commodity based on a predicted shipment volume from demand prediction of the commodity placed in the frontage space. The system determines exchange pairs (frontage space pairs) in each of which exchange of the commodities are performed based on a current capacity value and the recommended capacity value of each frontage space. Each exchange pair satisfies the following: The current capacity of a first frontage space is smaller than the recommended capacity, or the current capacity of a second frontage space is larger than the recommended capacity. The recommended capacity of the second frontage space satisfies the current capacity of the first frontage space. The recommended capacity of the first frontage space satisfies the current capacity of the second frontage space.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for detecting events involving users that occurred at an inventory location, and then using the events to determines states of the inventory location at various times. For instance, a system may generate event data representing first events that occur within an inventory location. The first events may include an associate performing a task, a customer removing an item, a customer returning an item, and/or so forth. The system may then use the event data to determine a state of the inventory location during a second event. In some examples, the state may include a tidy state or an untidy state. If the state includes a tidy state, then the system may generate a listing of items that includes at least one item associated with the second event. However, if the state includes an untidy state, then the system may further process the second event.

Abstract: An article reading device according to an embodiment includes a display device and an image capturing device that generates an image of an article. A processor extracts, from the image, first feature data for recognizing the article and second feature data for determining whether to recognize the article based on the first feature data. The processor determines whether to recognize the article. If it is determined to recognize the article, the processor recognizes the article based on the extracted first feature data, and controls the display device to display a recognition result. If it is determined to not recognize the article, extract a barcode from the image, the processor identifies the article based on the extracted barcode, and control the display device to display an identification result. The processor performs a transaction settlement with respect to the recognition result, if any, and the identification result, if any.

Abstract: An inventory tracking system includes storage modules that hold one or more items. Each item is positionable at locations within the storage modules independent of physical characteristics of the item. Inventory monitoring modules are included to monitor storage modules for adding an item, retrieving an item, consuming of the item, returning an unused item, discarding at least a portion of a consumed item, or combinations thereof. Each act is used to determine information about items utilized in the act, including the location within the storage modules of the items. Each storage module updates a central inventory database about a location of the storage module, a revised inventory of the items stored within the storage modules, or both. The location of the storage modules, the revised inventory of the items stored within the storage modules, or both, is used to order a replenishment of the items held within the storage modules.

An automated method of processing payment requests, the method includes: receiving, at a consumer interaction module, a payment request from a ticketing terminal; sending the payment request to an authorization server; receiving a response from the authorization server; sending the response to the ticketing terminal; and receiving, at the consumer interaction module, a ticket. The consumer interaction module may be able to interact with various mobile device applications. Abstract: A system and method that automatically monitors product use, such as the type and amount of agricultural and/or horticultural product stored in and dispensed from a cartridge over time and/or by geographic location. Monitored data are stored in memory such as a tag on the cartridge and may be transmitted to a server for storage, aggregation, and analysis. The cartridge may be authenticated before being authorized for use for the benefit of a current user in dispensing the product. The cartridge may be refilled after confirmation of authorization codes on the cartridge and refilling equipment tags. The cartridge may be calibrated automatically based on the bulk density or other parameter of the product in the cartridge. Data may be aggregated from a plurality of cartridges automatically. As-applied data from individual cartridges may be used to verify, independent of operator input, treated area coverage and product application rate.

Abstract: There are provided systems and methods for communication of orders and payments in a drive through using wireless beacons. A merchant location may include a drive through with a wireless beacon established in the drive through. The beacon may provide communication services with a device for the user. The merchant may detect that the user is in a vehicle in the drive through using either the connection between the device of the user and the beacon or a camera, sensor, or other detector located near the beacon in the drive through. Based on check-in information generated on the connection, an order for the user may be accessed. The user may pay for the order using the device and through the connection to the beacon. Further, if other devices for additional users in the vehicle connect to the beacon, the additional users may split the payment for the order.

Each menu item includes food item(s) which are in condition for consumption based on the estimation models. Menu recommendations corresponding to the time periods are generated.
