  • Patent number: 6426842
Abstract: A tape controlling apparatus for use with a data recorder for recording and/or reproducing digital data on and/or from a tape-shaped recording medium. A target position signal for representing a target position to which the tape-shaped recording medium is traveled, a first command signal for representing a position traveling request and a second command signal for representing a write request or a read request are provided. Information of the target position of the medium is detected from the traveling position signal and stored. The difference between the present position of the medium and the stored target position is compared with a predetermined value, resulting in a control signal for driving the tape-shaped recording medium to a particular position between the present position and the target position when the difference is larger than the predetermined value.

  • Publication number: 20010052114
Abstract: A data processing apparatus which downloads a corrective program into its RAM during initial program loading, performs by its CPU interrupt processing in response to an interrupt request signal output from a debugging circuit when a program address coincides with a predetermined bug address, executes the debugged program, then reads program codes from the memory address next to the buggy part of a program to continue the processing after the interrupt processing. By executing the debugged program stored in the RAM as an interrupt processing routine instead of executing the buggy part of the program stored in the ROM, the buggy program is replaced by the bug-free corrected program and therefore the bug can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 6195126
Abstract: A video signal processing apparatus and method for use with an electronic still camera or the like. An image memory is utilized which has a luminance data region for storing luminance data, a chromatic data region for storing chromatic data, a character data region for storing character data, and pattern data region(s) for storing pattern data. Character data and pattern data stored in the character data region and the pattern data regions may be combined with and/or incorporated into luminance data and chromatic data stored in the luminance data region and the chromatic data region. As a result, a dedicated ROM is not needed and information pertaining to an image photographed may be prevented from being loss. A video signal based on an image of an original photograph may be stored in original form when characters and patterns are incorporated into the image of the photograph.

  • Patent number: 5774288
Abstract: A data recorder performs tape loading and unloading operations at high speed and without requiring the tape to be rewound to its top portion upon unloading. The data recorder records updated header information on the tape when the unloading operation is performed. The header information may contain unique values for identifying the tape and its volume. The header information including the values may be stored to a database or other memory device. The data recorder changes the position of a header information on the tape whenever the header information is updated to prevent a damage to a particular portion of the tape. Following the header information, also recorded is unload information that represents the position of the updated header information on the tape.

  • Patent number: 5712740
Abstract: A method for reducing the blank spaces resulting from the storage of multiple data blocks on a storage medium. In one embodiment, data is stored on a magnetic tape. Data to be written to the tape is partitioned into user data blocks and management data blocks, the user data blocks being written on the tape sequentially in a longitudinal direction in tracks along the tape, and the management data blocks being written in tracks on the tape sequentially in a longitudinal direction that is opposite the write direction of the user data blocks. Writing the user data and management data in directions that are inversely related allows the amount of wasted storage space to be reduced.

  • Patent number: 5689310
Abstract: A fader device for processing picture data supplied from outside, such as from a video tape recorder or a camera, with fade-in or fade-out processing with a desired color. For fade-in, a subtractor subtracts the color picture data supplied from a designated color picture data forming unit from picture data supplied from outside and transmits the resulting difference data to a multiplier, which then multiplies picture data from the subtractor with a gradually increasing coefficient supplied from the gain control unit and routes the result of multiplication to an adder. The adder adds picture data supplied from the multiplier to the color picture data supplied from the designated color picture data forming unit and routes the resulting addition signal to a monitor unit. For fade-out, the subtractor subtracts the color picture data supplied from the designated color picture data forming unit from data supplied from outside and routes the resulting difference signal to the multiplier.

  • Patent number: 5646603
Abstract: A remote control apparatus for recording/playback equipment capable of remotely controlling complicated recording playback equipment while placing little burden on the control side. Schedule data is transmitted from an uplink system 100 to a downlink system 200 via a communications satellite. The schedule data includes operation data for recording and playback operations and their related operations, start data which displays at least the operation start time, and position data which indicates the recording/playback position on the recording medium. The received schedule data is stored in a non-volatile RAM in the control area of the VCR 203. The VCR then uses this schedule data as a basis for automatically carrying out recording or playback operations and their related operations.

  • Patent number: 5418443
Abstract: In a motor driving circuit for generating sine wave signals for driving a focusing step motor in a video camera or the like, sine wave data stored in a ROM are accessed in response to an address signal generated by an address generator. A desired sine wave frequency is set by bit-shifting the address signal supplied from the address generator. The address generator counts horizontal sync pulses in which, prior to counting, a predetermined number of the sync pulses are removed at substantially equal intervals so that the counted number of pulses per frame is equal to a power product of 2. The order in which the sine wave data are accessed is inverted every quarter frame period, and the sine wave data read out of the ROM in a vertical period in the order established by the inverter device are processed so as to form sine wave signals having respective phases for supply to the step motor.
