  • Patent number: 11270578
Abstract: An approach is provided for detecting road closures programmatically by monitoring probe activity. The approach, for example, involves generating a historical model of expected probe activity on the road segment based on historical probe data. The approach also involves monitoring observed probe activity from the road segment. The approach further involves calculating a probability of the observed probe activity based on the historical model of the expected probe activity. The approach further involves determining the closure status of the road segment based on the probability.

  • Publication number: 20220055616
Abstract: A vehicle may include a primary system and a secondary system to validate operation of the primary system and to control the vehicle to avoid collisions. For example, the secondary system may receive multiple trajectories from the primary system, such as a primary trajectory and a secondary, contingent, trajectory associated with a deceleration or other maneuver. The secondary system may determine if a trajectory is associated with a potential collision, if the trajectory is consistent with a current or previous pose, if the trajectory is compatible with a capability of the vehicle, etc. The secondary system may select the primary trajectory if valid, the secondary trajectory if the primary trajectory is invalid, or another trajectory generated by the secondary system if the primary trajectory and the secondary trajectory are invalid. If no valid trajectory is determined, the vehicle may decelerate at a maximum rate.

  • Patent number: 11194586
Abstract: A firmware-based system and method for detecting an indicator of an override condition during a Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Secure Boot sequence. The indicator of the override condition may be detected based upon the pressing of a specialized button, designated key or keys or other received input that indicates both physical presence of the user and the desire, on the current boot, to bypass UEFI Secure Boot. An embodiment may work for only a single boot, not require access into a setup application, and may be accessed by externally accessible features of the computer system.

  • Patent number: 11124185
Abstract: A secondary system operates on a vehicle to avoid a collision when a problem occurs with a primary system. For example, the secondary system may operate independently from the primary system to take over control of the vehicle from the primary system when the secondary system detects a potential collision, when an error occurs with the primary system, and so on. In examples, the primary system may implement first techniques, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, to understand an environment around the vehicle and/or instruct the vehicle to move within the environment. In examples, the secondary system may implement second techniques that are based on positioning, velocity, acceleration, etc. of the vehicle and/or objects around the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20210260766
Abstract: A control server controls a dual-arm robotic manipulator (DARM) for handling deformable objects in a stack. The control server receives a set of images of the stack captured by a set of image sensors, and determines a contour of the stack based the set of images. Based on the contour and historical data associated with the deformable objects in the stack, the control server determines a sequence of actions to be performed by the DARM for handling a first deformable object in the stack, and controls the DARM to handle the first deformable object by communicating a set of commands corresponding to each action in sequence of actions. The first deformable object is handled such that original form factors of the first deformable object and the remaining stack are maintained.

  • Patent number: 11099573
Abstract: Performance anomalies in complex systems can be difficult to identify and diagnose. In an example, latency associated with one or more of the systems can be determined. An anomalous event can be determined based on the determined latency. In some examples, based at least in part on determining the event, the system may be controlled in a safe state and/or reconfigured to obviate the anomaly.

  • Publication number: 20210247442
Abstract: Detecting whether a target utility device that includes multiple electronic components is genuine or suspected counterfeit by: performing a test sequence of energizing and de-energizing the target device and collecting electromagnetic interference (EMI) signals emitted by the target device; generating a target EMI fingerprint from the EMI signals collected; retrieving a plurality of reference EMI fingerprints from a database library, each of which corresponds to a different configuration of electronic components of a genuine device of the same make and model as the target device; iteratively comparing the target EMI fingerprint to the retrieved reference EMI fingerprints and generating a similarity metric between each compared set; and indicating that the target device (i) is genuine where the similarity metric for any individual reference EMI fingerprint satisfies a threshold test, and is a suspect counterfeit device where no similarity metric for any individual reference EMI fingerprint satisfies the test.

  • Patent number: 11086658
Abstract: Mechanisms for providing enhanced system performance and reliability on multi-core computing devices are discussed. Embodiments use modified hardware and/or software so that when a System Management Interrupt (SMI #) is generated, only a single targeted CPU core enters System Management Mode (SMM) in response to the SMI while the remaining CPU cores continue operating in normal mode. Further, a multi-threaded SMM environment and mutual exclusion objects (mutexes) may allow guarding of key hardware resources and software data structures to enable individual CPU cores among the remaining CPU cores to subsequently also enter SMM in response to a different SMI while the originally selected CPU core is still in SMM.

  • Publication number: 20210232384
Abstract: Systems and methods for performing flash updates during runtime are discussed. More particularly, the amount of secure memory required to prevent tampering during the update process is limited by storing hashes of logical blocks of the update image in secure memory after initial validation while storing the update image in non-secure RAM or another non-secure memory location. Additionally, disruptions to the computing platform are limited by dividing the logical blocks into smaller progress units to minimize the amount of time spent in the secure operating environment performing the update.

  • Publication number: 20210226698
Abstract: An improved technique for acoustic sensing involves, in one embodiment, launching into a medium, a plurality of groups of pulse-modulated electromagnetic-waves. The frequency of electromagnetic waves in a pulse within a group differs from the frequency of the electromagnetic waves in another pulse within the group. The energy scattered by the medium is detected and, in one embodiment, the beat signal may be used to determine a characteristic of the environment of the medium. For example, if the medium is a buried optical fiber into which light pulses have been launched in accordance with the invention, the presence of acoustic waves within the region of the buried fiber can be detected.

  • Publication number: 20210215668
Abstract: Methods for analyzing a urine sample to determine if it contains a microorganism linked to an infection. The method comprising: providing culture-independent urine sample from patient; and analyzing the sample; where the culture-independent urine sample contains a microorganism linked to a UTI if at least one decarboxylated amino acid metabolite selected from agmatine, putrescine or cadaverine is detected in the culture-independent urine sample. The presence of agmatine is strongly indicative of a urinary tract infection caused by a majority of UTI-causing microorganisms. Another method for sample analysis, for or apart from UTI issues, employs liquid chromatography and mass spectroscopy of eluents separated using continuous chromatography of a sample spiked with an amount of isotopically labelled target compound.

  • Patent number: 11042383
Abstract: A system and method for boot speed optimization is discussed. Uncompressed copies of UEFI firmware volumes and OS boot loader files stored on a portion of an NVDIMM are used during a boot sequence in a computing platform. • Patent number: 11043117
Abstract: An approach is provided for next token prediction based on previously observed tokens. The approach involves receiving an observed time series of tokens, wherein each of the tokens represents an observed data pattern. The approach also involves adding a most recent token from the observed time series of tokens into a variable token set. The approach further involves processing a historical token set to determine a historical token sequence comprising the variable token set followed by a next token. The approach further involves recursively adding a next most recent token from the observed time series of tokens into the variable token set for processing until the next token following the variable token set in the determined historical token sequence is unique or meets a target number of possible predictions. The approach further involves presenting the next token as a predicted next token of the observed time series of tokens.
