  • Publication number: 20200148201
Abstract: A secondary system operates on a vehicle to avoid a collision when a problem occurs with a primary system. For example, the secondary system may operate independently from the primary system to take over control of the vehicle from the primary system when the secondary system detects a potential collision, when an error occurs with the primary system, and so on. In examples, the primary system may implement first techniques, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, to understand an environment around the vehicle and/or instruct the vehicle to move within the environment. In examples, the secondary system may implement second techniques that are based on positioning, velocity, acceleration, etc. of the vehicle and/or objects around the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10629069
Abstract: An approach is provided for a localized link-centric metric for directional traffic propagation. The approach, for instance, involves designating a base link of the road network. The approach also involves determining a plurality of vehicle trajectories that pass through the base link. The plurality of vehicle trajectories is based on probe data collected from one or more sensors of a plurality of vehicles travelling in the road network. The approach further involves determining a frequency at which the plurality of vehicle trajectories passes through the base link to each of one or more other links in the plurality of vehicle trajectories within a proximity threshold. The approach further involves computing a link-centric metric for said each of the one or more other links relative to the base link based on the determined frequency.

  • Publication number: 20200105134
Abstract: An approach is provided for detecting road closures programmatically by monitoring probe activity. The approach, for example, involves generating a historical model of expected probe activity on the road segment based on historical probe data. The approach also involves monitoring observed probe activity from the road segment. The approach further involves calculating a probability of the observed probe activity based on the historical model of the expected probe activity. The approach further involves determining the closure status of the road segment based on the probability.

  • Patent number: 10534031
Abstract: This application relates to methods and apparatus for determining the location of a fault in a power cable of a power distribution network. The method involves monitoring at least one electrical parameter of the power distribution network to detect the occurrence of a fault and determine at least one time window for the occurrence of the fault The method involves analysing a first set of measurement signals is obtained by a distributed fibre optic sensor having a sensing optical fibre deployed along the path of the power cable. The first set of measurement signals include signals indicative of the extent of any disturbances along the sensing fibre over a known time period. The measurement shallots are analysed based on the at least one time window for measurement signals and the location of the fault in the power cable is identified based on the location of one or more longitudinal sensing portions of the sensing fibre.

  • Patent number: 10495491
Abstract: This application relates to methods and apparatus for distributed fibre optic sensing, especially distributed acoustic sensing (DAS). The sensor apparatus (300) has an optical generator (303, 305, 306) for repeatedly generating a first coded sequence of optical radiation to be launched into a sensing optical fibre (302). The first coded sequence is encoded according to a polylevel coding sequence (101) and has desired autocorrelation properties. A detector (311) detects optical radiation which has been Rayleigh backscattered from within the sensing optical fibre and a processor (301c) processes the output of the detector. The processor processes the detector output in range bins and for each range bin correlating a detection signal derived from the detector output with the polylevel coding sequence at a time delay corresponding to that particular range bin.

  • Patent number: 10401199
Abstract: This application describes methods and apparatus for tracking targets in a fiber optic distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) network. The DAS network comprises a plurality of interrogator units interrogating sensing fibers deployed along paths of interest to provide DAS sensors. Targets are tracked at each of a plurality of tracker nodes of the DAS network, where each tracker node receives measurement signals from one or more DAS sensors and applies a tracking algorithm to track any targets in a respective tracker zone. Each tracker node maintains, for each target, a tracking dataset of target properties for tracking that target. The method involves identifying when a first target in a first tracker zone of a first tracker node is approaching a second tracker zone of a second tracker nod and supplying for the first tracker node to the second tracker node a Target Descriptor for the first target.

  • Publication number: 20190261063
Abstract: Systems and methods for verifying the rendering of video content on information resources are provided herein. A server can transmit a video content element having a first bit stream corresponding to a predesignated frame to a client device. The client device can identify the first bit stream as corresponding to the predesignated frame. The client device can decode the first bit stream corresponding to the predesignated frame of the video content element to generate a second bit stream. The client device can transmit, to the server, a tracking message including the second bit stream. The server can compare the second bit stream included in the tracking message from the client device with a third bit stream maintained at a database. The server can determine that the video content element is rendered at the client device responsive to the second bit stream matching the third bit stream.

  • Publication number: 20190163256
Abstract: A system and method for performing sleep state enhancements in a computing device using firmware and NVDIMMs that include DRAM and flash memory is discussed. The flash-backed DRAM covers all of platform memory. All writes to DRAM during system operation are propagated to the flash. Sleep state requests trigger a System Management Interrupt and a firmware a SMI handler handles the sleep state request so as to enable power savings during the sleep state and facilitate faster resume times when exiting the sleep state.
