Abstract: For allowing differentiated handling of network traffic, a message (301, 307, 309) is received by a traffic type detector (100). The traffic type detector (100) extracts a network label, e.g. a domain name, a hostname, or a network address, from the message (301, 307, 309) and compares this extracted network label to one or more stored network labels. On the basis of the comparison, adaptation of a quality of service level for a forwarding treatment of data packets associated with the message is initiated, e.g. by controlling a bearer used for communicating the data packets.

Abstract: A method and an arrangement for providing resource data for at least one resource to a watching client. A subscription request for resource data regarding a resource sent from a watching client is received (700) by a notification server, the subscription request comprising a reference to notification rule being pre-configured in a database for the watching client. The delivery of notifications to the watching client is controlled (710) based on the reference. Supplementing the subscription requests with a reference to pre-configured notification rules regarding the observed resource(s) instead of the actual notification rules, reduces the amount of information being transferred with plural subscription requests for a watching client.

Abstract: A method of managing a subscription request at a originating network node of a first network operator is provided, where a subscription request originating from, or on behalf of a user being a subscriber of the first network operator is provided with user context that is specifying an agreement between the first network operator and the subscriber. The subscription request is then transmitted to a terminating network node of a second network operator, with which the first network operator has established an interoperability agreement. The described procedure enables the second network operator to authorize the subscription request taking the user context into consideration, such that the interoperability agreement between the two network operators is applied for the subscriber also by the second network operator.

The Presence Server receives a request from the XDM client and identifies the Watcher on the basis of content of the request. On the basis of the request and the identity of the Watcher, the Presence Server generates a document from presence information that has previously been defined as an XCAP application usage and stored at the presence server. The document is then forwarded to the Watcher.

Abstract: An arrangement and method for reducing memory usage for communications between servers in a communication network utilizing the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) by controlling establishment of SIP dialogues. A single SIP dialogue for a certain event package is utilized for multiple subscriptions between one instance of a requesting server such as a Resource List Server (RLS) and one instance of an Application Server such as, for example, a Presence Server. The SIP dialogue is then used to send all SIP NOTIFY messages between these two entities to reduce memory usage at both ends by removing the overhead created by SIP.

When a subscription request is received (3:1) from the client for notifications with selected resource data of one or more resources, the access network currently used by the client is determined based on network related information, e.g. obtained from the received subscription request. Abstract: Systems and methods according to these exemplary embodiments provide for reducing the amount of data stored in a network. This can occur by reducing the quantity of personal contact cards associated with an individual that are stored within a network by replacing the quantity of stored copies with links to the single copy on the network.

Abstract: The invention provides a method of authorising provision of in-directed content to a user of an IPcommunications network. The in-directed content is associated with a presentity subscriber of a presence service, the presence service including authorisation rules regarding users to which the in-directed content may be provided. The in-directed content is stored at a content server that is not controlled by the presence service. The method includes receiving at an authorisation proxy in the network a request from the user to be provided with the in-directed content, and identifying the presentity subscriber associated with the requested in-directed content. The authorisation proxy retrieves the authorisation rules to verify that the user is authorised to receive the in-directed content. Subject to the verification, the in-directed content is provided from the content server the user.

Abstract: Personalized advertisements may be provided from a service node to a user, parallel to executing a request from the user device. At the service node, advertisement information may be selected, according to predefined advertisement rules and the applications which are available at the user device, and attached to a response message, sent to the user device in response to the received request. At the user device, the advertisement information is retrieved, structured and stored. A change of state of an application of the user device will initiate an interrogation of the advertisement information, which will result in performing a presentation of an advertisement on the user information, in case such instructions exists. An advertising method, a user device and a service node adapted to execute the suggested method are described.

Abstract: A method enabling a service at a communication network node and a network node adapted to execute the method is provided, wherein a first request, requesting for one or more operations to be associated with a symbol, is received from a first user. The request comprises an instruction, identifying one or more operations. The request triggers the generating of a unique symbol identity, and the creation of a symbol record, associated with the symbol identity, wherein the symbol record, linking the symbol identity to the one or more operations. At the node the symbol identity is also associated with the generated symbol, which is created by a symbol server and forwarded to the first user. Once the symbol has been received by the node in a second request, the symbol identity corresponding to the symbol is retrieved from the symbol server, and the service is enabled by executing the one or more operations according to the symbol record identified by the symbol identity.

The authorization procedure comprises providing at least one attribute, associated with the preferences of the second client to the first client as an XML extension document. Abstract: A method in a communication network of delivering messages associated with an information exchange service. A message, to be delivered between two entities is interrogated to determining if the data content has already been delivered to the terminating entity. If the data content has not already been delivered to the second entity, the message is transmitted to the second entity unchanged, while the message is modified, so that the modified message comprises a data identifier, identifying the data content, but no data content. The modified message is then transmitted to the terminating entity, and the data identifier is cached together with the associated data content when a successful transmission of the message has been verified. The suggested versioning mechanism enables transmission of messages with a reduced size.

Abstract: A method of delivering information from a Notifying node of a SIP/IMS network to a Watcher Client, via an intermediate Watcher Proxy. A connection is established between the Watcher Proxy and the Watcher Client, using a SIP session, wherein the established connection is used for forwarding a request for a SIP subscription to the Watcher Proxy as an embedded SIP subscribe message. Once a backend SIP subscription has been setup between the Watcher Proxy and the Notifying node, SIP notify messages delivered from the Notifying node will be forwarded from the Watcher Proxy to the Watcher Client via the established connection, thereby separating SIP subscribe traffic from SIP control traffic.
