Abstract: A method is disclosed for use in a telecommunications network that makes use of the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). The method comprises receiving node status information in a SIP Request whose Request Uniform Resource Identifier, or Request-URI, identifies the SIP Request as comprising node status information and also identifies the intended recipients of the node status information.

Abstract: A method, user terminal, and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Application Server for transporting SIP messages across an IP Multimedia network between the user terminal and the SIP Application Server. The sending side compresses message payloads within the application layer and the receiving side decompresses them at the application layer. The compressed message payloads are passed between the application layer and a SIP User Agent via an appropriate Application Programming Interface (API).

Abstract: A method is disclosed for use in a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System network comprising an IP Multimedia Subsystem. The method comprises receiving node status information relating to a first node of the network which indicates an occurrence of an event associated with the first node, determining the existence of a network association established between the first node and a second node of the network that would be adversely affected by the occurrence of the event, and causing the network association to be terminated, thereby allowing a new network association between the first and second nodes to be established in its place.

Abstract: A method and arrangement for handling a service request in a session control unit in a multimedia network. Upon receiving the service request from a user equipment, the session control unit checks a service profile associated with a user-identity of the service request in order to find an application server to which the service request is to be routed. Prior to routing the service request, an ensuring entity ensures the service request will include a primary user-identity. In the application server, the primary user-identity is used to find stored data, which is necessary for executing the requested service.

Abstract: A system and method in a telecommunication network for subscribing a first node to receive event update notifications from a second node. The first node sends a subscription message such as a SIP SUBSCRIBE message to the second node indicating that the first node wishes to subscribe to event update notifications relating to at least one type of event for a plurality of remote nodes of the network that have a predetermined association with the first node or alternatively the second node. In response, the second node generates future event update notifications and sends the notifications to the first node when the event notifications meet the criteria specified in the subscription message.

Abstract: A method, information delivery server, and client data server for providing client data regarding an observed client to plural watching clients. The client data server has knowledge of which watching clients subscribe to watch the observed client. The client data server sends a single notification message to the information delivery server and includes client data of the observed client and identifiers of the subscribing watching clients. The information delivery server may customize the client data according to one or more delivery rules and data filters for delivery to the identified watching clients in individual customized notification messages.

Abstract: A method and arrangement for authorizing an initially unauthorized watching client to receive client data of an observed client from a client data server. The watching client sends an expanded request for client data to the server. The expanded request contains additional information such as a text string, a picture, or a video/audio clip. The server extracts the additional information and sends it to the observed client. The observed client can then decide whether to authorize the watching client to receive the observed client's data based on the additional information.

Abstract: A method and arrangement for temporarily withholding notifications with client data of at least one observed client to a watching client when the watching client has an ongoing subscription for receiving the notifications from a client data server. When the watching client receives a subscription suspend trigger, the watching client sends a subscription suspend message to the client data server indicating that client data notifications should be temporarily withheld while retaining the subscription. When the watching client subsequently receives a subscription resume trigger, the watching client sends a subscription resume message to the client data server indicating that the suspended subscription shall be resumed and allowing client data notifications to be delivered again. The watching client then subsequently receives client data notifications according to the subscription.

Abstract: A system, server, computer readable medium and method for receiving personal information about a first user and providing the personal information to a second user, where the first and second users are connected to corresponding first and second servers in a communication network. The method includes receiving at the second server, from the second user, a request for the personal information of the first user, accessing an address of the first user based on an address book of the second user, wherein the address book of the second user is accessible to the second server, contacting the first server based on the address of the first user and requesting from the first server the personal information of the first user, receiving the personal information of the first user from the first server, and providing the received personal information of the first user to the second user, without storing the received personal information in the second server or in an associated storage device.

Abstract: A server, computer readable medium and method for accessing data related to a first user connected to a communication network that includes a server, the data being accessed by a second user connected to the communication network. The method includes receiving at the server instructions from the first user for generating authentication privileges for the second user to access the data of the first user, wherein the data includes at least one of location data related to a physical location of the first user, and presence data related to an availability of the first user to communicate with the second user; applying a single set of authentication rules to generate the authentication privileges for the second user for both the location data and the presence data; and storing the generated authentication privileges of the second user.

Abstract: A method and arrangement for handling incoming requests for multimedia services in an application server having a plurality of processors. A service request is received from a user, requiring the handling of user-specific data. The identity of the user or other consistent user-related parameter is extracted from the received service request. Then, a scheduling algorithm is applied using the extracted identity or other user-related parameter as input, for selecting a processor associated with the user and that stores user-specific data for the user locally. Thereafter, the service request is transferred to the selected processor in order to be processed by handling the user-specific data.

Abstract: A method and arrangement for distributing services messages from a client terminal to multiple service units or applications in one or more application servers in a multimedia service network. A service message distributor receives from the terminal, a multi-service message that includes a plurality of service message documents containing service-related data targeted to a specific service unit or application. The message distributor converts the received message into a plurality of individual service messages corresponding to the documents. The individual messages are sent separately toward their respective target service units or applications.

Abstract: A method of handling the delivery of push messages from a notification server of a Session Initiation Protocol based network to a network user. The method comprises signalling to said notification server the start of a Session Initiation Protocol session and the end of a Session Initiation Protocol session, and deferring the delivery of some or all push messages, scheduled for delivery to said user during the ongoing session, until the session has finished.

Abstract: A method is disclosed of providing an XML Document Manager Server function to an XML Document Manager Client (2-1). The XML Document Manager Server function is enabled by a database component for storing at least one XML document and a logic component for causing at least one operation to be performed on one or more of the at least one XML documents. In the method, the logic component is provided by a first network entity (60-1), with which the XML Document Manager Client (2-1) communicates directly or indirectly to receive the XML Document Manager Server function, and the database component is provided by a second network entity (70) different to the first network entity (60-1).

Abstract: A method, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) client terminal, and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) application server for synchronizing data stored at the IMS client terminal with data stored at the SIP application server. When the IMS client terminal sends a request to the SIP application server, the server determines whether the request includes information identifying the current state of the data stored at the client. If so, the server determines whether to send further data to the client based upon the information included in the request.

Abstract: A method and arrangement for handling client-related information in an application server connected to a telecommunication network for a client that has registered with the network. The application server receives a message from the client that results in the activation of a client state in the server. The server then creates a subscription with a registration unit such as an S-CSCF for monitoring registration events when the client's registration is changed. When the application server receives a registration event notification from the registration unit, the server updates the client state in response thereto.

Abstract: Targeted messaging, for example advertisements, may be provided to a user terminal connectable to a service node in a communications network, said network comprising a library node connected to the service node and comprising messages, such as advertisements, in different formats for different access types, by the following steps: requesting the delivery of at least one message from the library node to the service node for distribution to the user terminal, while specifying in the request the access type used by the user terminal, and providing from the library node to the service node the appropriate version of the at least one message in dependence of the access type used by the user terminal. One or more parameters, such as demographic data, may be specified for how to select a message from the library node.

Abstract: An arrangement and method for reducing memory usage for communications between servers in a communication network utilizing the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) by controlling establishment of SIP dialogues. A single SIP dialogue for a certain event package is utilized for multiple subscriptions between one instance of a requesting server such as a Resource List Server (RLS) and one instance of an Application Server such as, for example, a Presence Server. The SIP dialogue is then used to send all SIP NOTIFY messages between these two entities to reduce memory usage at both ends by removing the overhead created by SIP.

Abstract: A method and arrangement for making membership information in communication groups easily available to clients. A group management server (202A) receives a group creation request (2.1) from a first client (A) for a new group comprising at least a second client (B). A list (Li) of members in the group is then stored (2.2), and a group event notification (2.3) is sent to a home network (200B) of the second client, to inform the network that the second client has become a member in the new group. A client can then find out which active communication groups he/she is a member of, without elaborate searching.
