Abstract: A method and arrangement for providing information to a client (200) from a client access network (202) regarding a requested set of users (204), at least some of which are connected to other access networks (206). In response to a client subscription request, the client access network establishes a network subscription with the other access networks. Information updates regarding users in the set are then continuously received and stored in a database (214) of the client access network, whenever the users change their state. In response to a subsequent request for user information from the client, corresponding stored user information is retrieved from the database and sent in a notification to the client.

Abstract: The reliability of a data flow between a server and a client in a data communications network is increased. An application in a user terminal is arranged to receive information from a server, such as a push server or a streaming server, in the network. A user who should have an active connection to the server is monitored to determine if the user currently has such a connection. An appropriate action is taken if this is not the case. The user's connection to the data communications network is monitored. If connected to the data communications network, the user should also have an active connection to said server.

Abstract: Targeted messaging, for example advertisements, may be provided to an end user terminal connectable to a service node in a communications network, said network comprising a library node connected to the service node and comprising messages, such as advertisements, in different formats adapted to different access types, by the following steps: requesting the delivery of at least one message from the library node to the service node for distribution to the terminal, while specifying in the request the access type used by the terminal, and providing from the library node to the service node the appropriate version of the at least one message in dependence of the access type used by the terminal. One or more parameter, such as demographic data, may be specified for how to select a message from the library node.
