  • Publication number: 20090063169
Abstract: A certified party can assist an uncertified party to gain access to a business requiring certification. The uncertified party requests that certification be extended by the certified party over a product made by the uncertified party. The certified party, certifying body and/or notified body evaluates the quality systems, procedures and production facilities of the uncertified party to determine if they satisfy the certification requirements. Many components of the product requiring certification are provided by the certified party to the uncertified party. Optionally, uncertified components for the product may be provided by the certified party or a third party. The uncertified party uses the components to manufacture the product. Product documentation is provided to the notified body. The notified body evaluates the documentation and conducts an investigation into the product. Upon receipt of certification, the uncertified party may mark the product with a certification mark.

  • Patent number: 7463650
Abstract: A method and apparatus for segmenting and forwarding data packets received in a communication switch is presented. The method begins by receiving a packet that includes a destination that determines forwarding parameters. As the packet is being received, segmentation cells are created from portions of the packet received where each segmentation cell is provided to a switching fabric as soon as creation of the segmentation cell is completed. When an end portion of the packet is received, verification of proper receipt of the packet is performed. When it is determined that the packet has been received successfully, a verification data set is generated based on segmentation cells that have been utilized to forward the packet. If it is determined that the packet has not been successfully received, a purging data set is generated instead of the verification data set.

  • Patent number: 7449241
Abstract: An organic coating composition is described, which can be used to enrich the surface region of a metal-based substrate with aluminum. The composition comprises an aluminum-based powder and at least one organic resin, e.g., alkyds, epoxies, or silicone materials. At least some of the aluminum-based powder is in the form of substantially spherical powder particles. The coating composition is substantially free of hexavalent chromium. It can be applied to the substrate by a variety of techniques, such as spraying. It is then heat-treated, to cause diffusion of aluminum into the surface region of the substrate, e.g., a turbine engine component. The composition exhibits good thermal and chemical stability for extended periods of time. Related articles are also described.

  • Publication number: 20080126607
Abstract: A system that includes a host and a peripheral device. The host transmits a packet that includes a command and a flow control field. The peripheral device receives the packet and has the ability to execute the command, wherein the peripheral device can determine whether the command can be processed in a timely manner, and can update the packet's flow control field with flow control data based on the determination. The host receives the updated packet and has the ability to adjust the flow control of subsequent packets to the peripheral device based on the flow control data in the updated packet.

  • Publication number: 20080126609
Abstract: A method for improving the speed and efficiency of communicating between two components on a printed circuit board is shown. According to the method, the data in the data frames being transmitted between the components is aligned with the bus width of the receiving component so that less processing time will be expended aligning the transmitted in data for the receiving component. In some embodiments, the data is aligned by placing the checksum in a position in the data frame to be transmitted before the data in the data frame.

  • Publication number: 20080071944
Abstract: A method for improving the speed and efficiency of transmitting data between two components in which the transmitted data is sent, at least partly, through a serial bus is shown. According to the method, the fields in the data frames being transmitted between the components are of a fixed length regardless of the amount of data that the receiving device can receive at one time. The data bits of the fixed-length frame correspond to the signals accepted as input by the receiving component.

  • Publication number: 20080052819
Abstract: The nature of our invention is the permanent attachment of a tank which contains a pump with a discharge pipe and a floating lever switch to the bottom of a utility sink to provide for the elimination of restriction of the placement of the utility sink above the discharge waste water system which always requires gravity for the flow of the liquid in the sink. The invention allows for locating the utility sink with a washer and dryer at any level in a building eliminating the restriction of always maintaining the use of gravity for discharge of sink liquids.

  • Publication number: 20070158247
Abstract: An extracorporeal blood treatment apparatus includes a blood treatment unit, a treatment fluid circuit, and a blood circuit. The treatment fluid circuit has a treatment fluid pump for circulating treatment fluid around the treatment fluid circuit and through the blood treatment unit. The blood circuit has a dual chamber blood pump for circulating blood around the blood circuit and through the blood treatment unit. An arterial line withdraws blood from a patient and delivers the withdrawn blood to the blood treatment unit. A venous line returns the treated blood to the patient. The arterial and venous lines can be switched between a first condition in which they are connected to the patient and a second condition in which they are disconnected from the patient and connected to each other for recirculation of blood through the blood circuit.

  • Publication number: 20070050541
Abstract: An arrangement and method for update of configuration cache data in a disk storage subsystem in which a cache memory (110) is updated using two-phase (220, 250) commit technique. This provides the advantage that known changes to the subsystem do not require an invalidate/rebuild style operation on the cache. This is especially important where a change will invalidate the entire cache.

  • Publication number: 20060127253
Abstract: An inner drive for a magnetic drive pump includes a magnet supported on a yoke. The inner drive is driven about an axis to pump a corrosive process fluid. The magnet and yoke are fully encapsulated during the molding process to completely surround the magnet and yoke in a protective plastic shell. A sleeve is arranged radially outwardly of the magnet to provide further protection. Backing rings are arranged on either side of the magnet. A bonding material joins the plastic shell to the backing rings and sleeve to prevent a space from forming beneath the plastic shell that would become filled with the process fluid once it has permeated the plastic shell. A protective coating is arranged on at least a portion of the magnet to further insulate the magnet from the process fluid.

  • Publication number: 20060095444
Abstract: An improved data structure is provided by modifying a public-domain data structure known as a “heap”. When these improvements are applied, the resultant data structure is known as a “pile.” This invention further describes a pipelined hardware implementation of a pile. Piles offer many advantages over heaps: they allow for fast, pipelined hardware implementations with increased throughput, making piles practical for a wide variety of new applications; they remove the requirement to track and update the last position in the heap; they reduce the number of memory reads accesses required during a delete operation; they require only ordinary, inexpensive RAM for storage in a fast, pipelined implementation; and they allow a random mixture of back-to-back insert, remove, and swap operations to be performed without stalling the pipeline.
