  • Publication number: 20220139038
Abstract: A 3D reconstruction method including obtaining a first open triangulated surface consisting of triangles of a tetrahedral meshing of a point cloud and determining a second open triangulated surface. The determining explores candidate open triangulated surfaces each being a set of triangles of the meshing and penalizes a high rank of the candidates according to a lexicographic order based on a triangle order and ordering a candidate having triangles decreasingly ordered according to a triangle order penalizing triangle size, relative to another candidate having triangles decreasingly ordered according to the triangle order. The second surface violates consistency of a labelling of the meshing with two labels. A triangle respects labelling consistency when it belongs to the first surface and separates two tetrahedrons having different labels, or when it does not belong to the first surface and separates two tetrahedrons having a same label.

  • Patent number: 11315288
Abstract: An eye tracking system can include an eye-tracking camera configured to obtain images of the eye at different exposure times or different frame rates. For example, longer exposure images of the eye taken at a longer exposure time can show iris or pupil features, and shorter exposure, glint images can show peaks of glints reflected from the cornea. The shorter exposure glint images may be taken at a higher frame rate (than the longer exposure images) for accurate gaze prediction. The shorter exposure glint images can be analyzed to provide glint locations to subpixel accuracy. The longer exposure images can be analyzed for pupil center or center of rotation. The eye tracking system can predict future gaze direction, which can be used for foveated rendering by a wearable display system. In some instances, the eye-tracking system may estimate the location of a partially or totally occluded glint.

  • Publication number: 20220114705
Abstract: Fill techniques as implemented by a computing device are described to perform hole filling of a digital image. In one example, deeply learned features of a digital image using machine learning are used by a computing device as a basis to search a digital image repository to locate the guidance digital image. Once located, machine learning techniques are then used to align the guidance digital image with the hole to be filled in the digital image. Once aligned, the guidance digital image is then used to guide generation of fill for the hole in the digital image. Machine learning techniques are used to determine which parts of the guidance digital image are to be blended to fill the hole in the digital image and which parts of the hole are to receive new content that is synthesized by the computing device.

  • Publication number: 20220092790
Abstract: In implementations of object boundary generation, a computing device implements a boundary system to receive a mask defining a contour of an object depicted in a digital image, the mask having a lower resolution than the digital image. The boundary system maps a curve to the contour of the object and extracts strips of pixels from the digital image which are normal to points of the curve. A sample of the digital image is generated using the extracted strips of pixels which is input to a machine learning model. The machine learning model outputs a representation of a boundary of the object by processing the sample of the digital image.

  • Patent number: 11266180
Abstract: An electronic cigarette (“e-Cig”) may include functionality for monitoring and controlling the thermal properties of the e-Cig. The system and method described herein may monitor a temperature based on a resistor (i.e. hot wire) near the wick and model the thermal cycle of an e-Cig. The model can be used for controlling the temperature of the e-Cig and preventing burning. The temperature control may dictate optimal conditions for atomization and smoke generation in an e-Cig while avoiding hotspots and burning to the atomizer or cartomizer.

  • Publication number: 20220058777
Abstract: Systems, methods, and software are described herein for removing people distractors from images. A distractor mitigation solution implemented in one or more computing devices detects people in an image and identifies salient regions in the image. The solution then determines a saliency cue for each person and classifies each person as wanted or as an unwanted distractor based at least on the saliency cue. An unwanted person is then removed from the image or otherwise reduced from the perspective of being an unwanted distraction.

  • Patent number: 11256309
Abstract: Methods and devices for manipulating the temperature of a surface are generally provided. The present disclosure relates to a device including one or more heating and/or cooling elements, or other suitable thermal adjustment apparatus(es), placed near a surface, such as the skin of a user. The device may be configured to generate one or more (optionally alternating) thermal profiles at the surface, which may include a series of thermal pulses and/or essentially continuous or semi-continuous thermal input, which may vary over time. Such thermal profiles, when suitably applied, may provide enhanced thermal sensations for a user which, in some cases, may provide the user with a more pleasurable thermal experience than would otherwise be the case without the generation of the thermal profiles. In some embodiments, an alternating thermal profile may include an average frequency, an oscillation window, and/or an average temperature, each of which may be adjustable.

  • Publication number: 20220001191
Abstract: It is well understood in the medical industry that medical disorders can manifest as serious problems for the affected subjects, their families, and society. Today, psychiatrists, neurologists and other physicians treat these disorders with a variety of medications, many of which have significant negative side effects. The teachings provided herein are directed to a novel system and methods for treating certain neurological, psychological, psychiatric and medical disorders by delivering a “magnetic stimulation” to a subject's neural and perineural system using either a static or electromagnetic field to generate a modulated variable power multi-spectral magnetic stimulation on three axis; the modulated stimulation using methods that have predictable, controlled, modifiable, and repeatable characteristics.

  • Patent number: 11151784
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for 3D reconstruction of a structure of a real scene including obtaining a 3D point cloud representing the structure. The method further includes determining a closed triangulated surface representing a skin of the structure. The determining explores candidate closed triangulated surfaces each meshing at least a respective part of the 3D point cloud. The determining penalizes a high rank of the candidate closed triangulated surfaces according to a lexicographic order. The lexicographic order is based on a triangle order and orders a first candidate closed triangulated surface having first triangles which are ordered according to a decreasing rank of the triangle order, relative to a second candidate closed triangulated surface having second triangles which are ordered according to a decreasing rank of the triangle order. The triangle order penalizes a triangle size. This constitutes an improved method for 3D reconstruction of a structure of a real scene.

  • Publication number: 20210312635
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for optimal segmentation of an image based on multiple segmentations. In particular, multiple segmentation methods can be combined by taking into account previous segmentations. For instance, an optimal segmentation can be generated by iteratively integrating a previous segmentation (e.g., using an image segmentation method) with a current segmentation (e.g., using the same or different image segmentation method). To allow for optimal segmentation of an image based on multiple segmentations, one or more neural networks can be used. For instance, a convolutional RNN can be used to maintain information related to one or more previous segmentations when transitioning from one segmentation method to the next. The convolutional RNN can combine the previous segmentation(s) with the current segmentation without requiring any information about the image segmentation method(s) used to generate the segmentations.

  • Publication number: 20210302587
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for operating a time-of-flight (TOF) sensor. The TOF may be operated in a low power mode by repeatedly performing a low power mode sequence, which may include performing a depth frame by emitting light pulses, detecting reflected light pulses, and computing a depth map based on the detected reflected light pulses. Performing the low power mode sequence may also include performing an amplitude frame at least one time by emitting a light pulse, detecting a reflected light pulse, and computing an amplitude map based on the detected reflected light pulse. In response to determining that an activation condition is satisfied, the TOF may be switched to operate in a high accuracy mode by repeatedly performing a high accuracy mode sequence, which may include performing the depth frame multiple times .
