  • Publication number: 20120321520
Abstract: The present invention enables liquid suction with a nozzle tip end in contact with a bottom surface of a container without causing damage to the nozzle and/or the bottom surface of the container. Plural rails 112 are disposed on an arm 101 movable three-dimensionally so as to extend upward from the arm 101, and a pipe 102 is fixed to a pipe fixing member 103 movable along the rails. A tip end of the pipe functions as a nozzle. Plural resilient members 114 are disposed on the arm so as to correct the inclination of the pipe fixing member. When the arm is moved downward and the tip end of the pipe comes in contact with the bottom of the container 106, the pipe and the pipe fixing portion move upward along the rails, so that the tip end of the pipe can be brought into contact with the bottom surface of the container while avoiding damages in the pipe and bottom of the container and suck liquid in the container in this state.

  • Publication number: 20120312083
Abstract: There have been the following problems with sequence analysis using multiple nanopores: trapping a sample in the nanopores is not always 100% efficient and unnecessary time is spent to measure pores in which no sample has been trapped, resulting in low measurement efficiency. To address the problems, a labeling substance is boned to a sample, and the sample to which the labeling substance has been bonded is trapped in the nanopores. An apparatus for observing the labeling substance is used to observe the labeling substance and monitor whether or not the sample has been trapped in the nanopores. Measuring only nanopores in which the sample has been trapped allows the measurement efficiency to be improved.

  • Patent number: 8293191
Abstract: The invention provides a method in which an annular or spiral droplet holder formed of wire is used to hold a droplet in a state of being hung therefrom or being contained therein. A means for moving the droplet holder is added to the droplet holder to enable droplet transfer. To merge two droplets, they are brought into contact. To drip the droplet held by a droplet holder formed of wire, the droplet holder is deformed using an external force. A light path which passes through a droplet is set to enable optical measurement. The present invention enables inexpensive, simple droplet transfer. An inexpensive, simple configuration for handling droplets in the fields of chemical analysis, biochemical analysis, and automatic blood analysis can be realized according to the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20120265964
Abstract: Disclosed is a data processing device capable of efficiently performing an arithmetic process on variable-length data and an arithmetic process on fixed-length data. The data processing device includes first PEs of SIMD type, SRAMs provided respectively for the first PEs, and second PEs. The first PEs each perform an arithmetic operation on data stored in a corresponding one of the SRAMs. The second PEs each perform an arithmetic operation on data stored in corresponding ones of the SRAMs. Therefore, the SRAMs can be shared so as to efficiently perform the arithmetic process on variable-length data and the arithmetic process on fixed-length data.

  • Patent number: 8089819
Abstract: A memory cell mat is divided into a plurality of entries, and an arithmetic logic unit is arranged corresponding to each entry. Between the entries and the corresponding arithmetic logic units, arithmetic/logic operation is executed in bit-serial and entry-parallel manner. Where parallel operation is not very effective, data is transferred in entry-serial and bit-parallel manner to a group of processors provided at a lower portion of the memory mat. In this manner, a large amount of data can be processed at high speed regardless of the contents of operation or data bit width.

  • Patent number: 8077492
Abstract: A CAM (Content Addressable Memory) cell includes first and second data storage portions storing data, horizontal port write gates for storing data applied through a match line pair in the data storage portions in a data write through a horizontal port, and search/read gates for driving the match lines of the match line pair in accordance with the data stored in the data storage portions in a search operation and in a data read through the horizontal port. The match lines are used as horizontal bit line pair, or signal lines for accessing the horizontal port. As the first and second data storage portions are used, it becomes possible to store ternary data, and accordingly, a write mask function of inhibiting a data write at a destination of data transfer is realized. Further, as the CAM cell is used, an arithmetic/logic operation following a search process can be executed selectively, and high speed data writing/reading becomes possible.

  • Patent number: 8029744
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for efficiently transporting or dispensing transport objects including not only particles but also liquid samples. A liquid in a first liquid transport pipe (3) is fed at a liquid feed velocity (V1), and a liquid droplet is formed toward an open end of a second liquid transport pipe (4) disposed with an air gap (11) in between. The particle is released into the liquid droplet, so that the particle is enclosed in the liquid droplet. Suction with a liquid feed velocity (V2) is applied to the inside of the second liquid transport pipe. Since the relationship between V1 and V2 is V1<V2, the liquid droplet, after reaching the open end (10) of the second liquid transport pipe, is sheared off by suction, thereby forming a liquid section in the second liquid transport pipe.

  • Publication number: 20110173416
Abstract: A data processing device in which parallel processing elements can efficiently perform processing is provided. A parallel processing module includes plural processing elements, banks A and B provided to correspond to the processing elements and used to store data to be used when the processing elements perform processing, and an I/O bank provided to correspond to the processing elements and used to transfer data to and from an external memory. A first selector circuit selectively couples bank B or the I/O bank to the processing elements. A second selector circuit selectively couples the external memory or the processing elements to the I/O bank. Thus, data can be transferred from the external memory to the I/O bank concurrently with the processing performed by the processing elements. The processing elements can therefore perform processing efficiently.

  • Patent number: 7964388
Abstract: A device is provided for a chemical reaction between molecules immobilized on a solid phase and molecules in a solution. A chemical analysis device is also provided to capture molecules in the solution and subsequently measure the captured molecules. Reaction efficiency and sample throughput are thereby improved. The chemical reaction and chemical analysis devices use a microfluidic device channel as a reaction vessel. The channel is provided with a particular molecule immobilized on an interior surface of the channel with an obstacle positioned against the flow. In a typical reaction vessel having an enzyme immobilized in the capillary's interior surface and glass beads as obstacles, a reaction solution can move either in one direction or back and forth to react with the immobilized enzyme. The flow of the reaction solution is not laminar such that a reaction between the particular molecule and the reaction solution proceeds at high efficiency.
