  • Patent number: 8094996
Abstract: Recording of video data is enabled by a management structure of a clip which is compatible with a BD-ROM standard. In accordance with the recording starting operation, the recording of a stream in which the video data and audio data have time-divisionally been multiplexed on a packet unit basis onto a recording medium is started. In accordance with the recording stopping operation, the stream stored in a buffer is written as a stream file onto the recording medium and a clip information file corresponding to the stream file is formed. A play item showing the whole clip information file is formed and added to the existing play list on the recording medium. A mark is stamped to the play list at time corresponding to an IN point of the play item. Subsequently, the play item which is formed in association with the recording start and stop is similarly further added to the existing play list and the mark is further stamped at the time corresponding to the IN point.

  • Publication number: 20110150435
Abstract: The present invention relates to an image recording apparatus and method, and a program for improving usability by removing operational constraints on combinations of an aspect ratio of a recorded moving image and a horizontal resolution from users while the compliance with the DVD-Video standard is strictly maintained. When an aspect ratio is 16:9 in a state that an LP mode is selected, a horizontal×vertical resolution is set to 720×480. When the aspect ratio is 4:3 in a state that the LP mode is selected, the horizontal×vertical resolution is set to 352×480. When an HQ or SQ mode is selected, the horizontal×vertical resolution is set to 720×480 irrespective of the aspect ratio. Accordingly, the image recording apparatus can encode a moving image and record the encoded image onto a DVD 17 without violating the DVD-Video standard while allowing users to arbitrarily select a recording mode and an aspect ratio. The present invention can be applied to video cameras, video recorders, etc.

  • Patent number: 7962002
Abstract: The present invention relates to a recording apparatus and a method, a recording medium, and a program for allowing the relative layout of data recorded on a data recording medium to be maintained on the data recording medium without having to requiring a user to perform burdensome operation. A playback control section 82 controls reading of ARI_DATA indicating an attribute of data recorded on an optical disk from the optical disk. A data-format identifying section 86 determines whether data recorded on the optical disk is a photo movie based on the read-out ARI_DATA. If it is determined that the data recorded on the optical disk is a photo movie, a delete control section 83 controls deletion of the data from the optical disk optical disk so as to delete the photo movie. The present invention can be applied to camcorders.

  • Patent number: 7940627
Abstract: It is possible to manage an empty region in a disc partition while satisfying an inhibit matter of the ROM standard not recording a space bit map describer (SBD). The SBD is recorded upon disc initialization and additional recording into the partition is performed by using the SBD regardless of the access type in the device. When ejecting the disc, pointer information to the SBD recorded in the partition describer (PD) is hacked up in the SBD pointer information save file or save data and then the pointer information is erased. Upon disc recognition, the existence of the save file/data is confirmed and the SBD is restored.

  • Patent number: 7894706
Abstract: When data of image information is compressed and is recorded on a recording medium, additional information about the image information is recorded in a conveniently usable state. There is provided read/write unit information as a unit of reading and writing the compressed image information to the recording medium. The read/write unit information contains a plurality of units of decoding and reproducing unit information that comprises one frame (or one field) of the image information. At least one piece of decoding and reproducing unit information is subject to compression encoding through the use of only image information in the decoding and reproducing unit. In the read/write unit information, there is multiplexed and recorded additional information about the decoding and reproducing unit information for a plurality of units within the read/write unit in an extractable manner separately from the compressed image information.

  • Patent number: 7848192
Abstract: Additional recording is performed on a recording medium without using a VAT technique. An area including the 256th logical sector is reserved at disc initialization time, and additional recording is performed from this reserved area and after. Additional recording is performed by writing packets from a logical sector immediately after a recorded area (including the reserved area), and AVDP is recorded into two places having the last logical sector number N of a packet structure and a logical sector number less than 256 sectors from N, and thus additional recording in compliance with the UDF is possible after that. At the time of finalization, AVDP is recorded in the 256th logical sector, a surplus area in the reserved area is subjected to padding to ensure wide compatibility with playback-only apparatuses.

  • Patent number: 7835621
Abstract: An encoding controlling apparatus is disclosed which includes: offset holding means for holding an offset equivalent to a time period by which to start encoding an audio signal earlier than a video signal upon recording of a chapter; recording mode determining means for determining whether a seamless connection is possible between the preceding chapter and the following chapter in order to set an initial value of the offset depending on an outcome of the determination; offset updating means for updating the offset in keeping with progress in encoding the video signal and the audio signal; and recording controlling means for giving an instruction either to start or to stop the encoding of the video signal and the audio signal in accordance with the offset. The inventive apparatus controls the encoding process in keeping with the offset between the audio and video signals, thereby achieving seamless connection between chapters without incurring discrepancies between the video and audio signals.

  • Patent number: 7796862
Abstract: A top menu is configured to provide information about chapters contained in a recording medium when it is finalized. From an optical disk as a recording medium, a title retrieval section reads title information about each title of motion picture data recorded on the optical disk. A chapter retrieval section reads chapter information about each chapter in the corresponding title based on the title information obtained in this manner. Based on the chapter information obtained in this manner, a representative picture selection section selects a representative picture in each chapter. A menu generation section generates the top menu including a display area to reproduce chapters based on the chapter information obtained by the chapter retrieval section.

  • Patent number: 7787744
Abstract: An entry property 2 contained in an entry property identifies normal or system. The normal represents an entry of entity data. The system represents an entry which describes a definition of flags. The flags represent attribute information of a file. The flags are defined by an apparatus or a user. An entry property 3 identifies valid or invalid of the entry. An entry property 4 represents whether or not a file registered to the entry references another file. A referred counter represents the number of files referred from another file. When a designated file is referenced from another file, a referring file list represents a file which references the designated file. With these information, a reference relation of files can be described.
