  • Patent number: 9361523
Abstract: A method and system for video-content based retrieval is described. A query video depicting an activity is processed using interest point selection to find locations in the video that are relevant to that activity. A set of spatio-temporal descriptors such as self-similarity and 3-D SIFT are calculated within a local neighborhood of the set of interest points. An indexed video database containing videos similar to the query video is searched using the set of descriptors to obtain a set of candidate videos. The videos in the video database are indexed hierarchically using a vocabulary tree or other hierarchical indexing mechanism.

  • Patent number: 9009156
Abstract: Described is a system for automatic data clustering which utilizes bio-inspired computing models. The system performs operations of mapping a set of input data into a feature space using a bio-inspired computing model. A number of clusters inside the set of input data is then determined by finding an optimal vigilance parameter using a bio-inspired computing model. Finally, the set of input data is clustered based on the determined number of clusters. The input data is mapped with a Freeman's KIII network, such that each data point is mapped into a KIII network response. Furthermore, the number of clusters is determined using the fuzzy adaptive resonance theory (ART), and the data is clustered using the fuzzy c-means method. Clustering quality measures are used to compute an objective function to evaluate the quality of clustering.

  • Patent number: 8874584
Abstract: Described is a system for content recognition, search, and retrieval in visual data. The system is configured to perform operations of receiving visual data as an input, processing the visual data, and extracting distinct activity-agnostic content descriptors from the visual data at each level of a hierarchical content descriptor module. The resulting content descriptors are then indexed with a hierarchical content indexing module, wherein each level of the content indexing module comprises a distinct set of indexed content descriptors. The visual data, generated content descriptors, and indexed content descriptors are then stored in a storage module. Finally, based on a content-based query by a user, the storage module is searched, and visual data containing the content of interest is retrieved and presented to the user. A method and computer program product for content recognition, search, and retrieval in visual data are also described.

  • Patent number: 8811156
Abstract: In certain embodiments, a method for compressing n-dimensional data includes applying a data clustering algorithm to n-dimensional data to partition the n-dimensional data into one or more clusters. Each of the one or more clusters includes a cluster center and a cluster membership. The cluster membership includes an index of one or more cluster members of the cluster. The method further includes performing, for each of the one or more clusters, a subspace projection technique to generate, for each of the cluster members of the cluster, one or more projection coefficients for the cluster member.

  • Patent number: 8803730
Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for radar pulse detection using a digital radar receiver are disclosed herein. In electronic warfare (EW), radars operate in an environment with highly dense electronic waveforms. As a result, the radars may receive thousands or millions of radar pulses every second. To detect and sort out radar pulses emitted from different radars is a challenging problem in electronic warfare. The present disclosure teaches a radar pulse detection system that utilizes digital channelization and joint-channel detection techniques to detect and separate radar pulses that are sent from different radar emitters. The main features of the present disclosure are: 1.) a digital channelization technique to separate radar pulses from their mixtures; 2.) a multi-channel detection technique to detect radar pulses; and 3.) an innovative technique to separate overlapped radar pulses.
