  • Patent number: 11684726
Abstract: An injector includes a needle movable from a retracted position to an injection position. A rotary biasing assembly is stabilized in a stored energy state and releasable into an energy releasing state and includes a cam. A cam follower couples the rotary biasing assembly with the needle and is configured to transform rotation of the rotary biasing assembly in the energy releasing state thereof into translation of the needle from the retracted position to the injection position. An activation switch is rotatable from an unactivated position, stabilizing the rotary biasing assembly in the stored energy state thereof, to an activated position, releasing the rotary biasing assembly into the energy releasing state thereof. An activation button is movably mounted to the injector housing and is translatable from an unactuated position to an actuated position, whereby the translation rotates the activation switch from the unactivated position to the activated position thereof.

  • Patent number: 11672904
Abstract: A system and method are provided for preventing a sharp stick hazard from a needle tip of an automatic injector device. In some embodiments, a skin contact surface of the device is attached to an injection site, for example by an adhesive. Optionally a locking mechanism holds a needle extended into an injection site. A body of the device is optionally movably attached to the skin contact surface. Pulling the body away from the injection site optionally moves the body with respect to the skin contact surface. Movement of the body with respect to the skin contact surface optionally moves interlinked parts of the locking mechanism, releasing the locking mechanism.

  • Patent number: 11654252
Abstract: A securing device for an injection device which receives a syringe with a proximal end portion having a radially outwardly projecting flange, has a body with proximal and distal end portions, an opening for accepting the syringe, an outer surface, and a proximal end surface for contacting a distally-facing surface of the flange when the syringe is advanced distally, preventing further advancement. A securing arm includes a free end; a base end fixed to the outer surface; a first portion extending radially outwardly from the base end to permit the flange to pass; and a second portion extending radially inwardly in a rest position, contacting the flange as the syringe is advanced. The securing arm is elastically flexible to allow the free end to move radially outwardly, allowing the advancing flange to pass, and is biased to the rest position to secure the flange and the syringe against proximal movement.

  • Publication number: 20220347388
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a cartridge is described. An injection needle is inserted into a mold that forms a barrel. The barrel defines an open proximal end, an opposing distal end, an internal reservoir therebetween, and an arm projecting distally from the distal end of the barrel and having a portion bent at a fixed angle. The injection needle is positioned within a portion of the mold configured to form the arm of the barrel, and a terminal needle tip is oriented such that a beveled opening of the needle tip is distally facing. The injection needle is stabilized against movement with a gripping device. The mold is filled with resin to form the barrel around the injection needle. The gripping device is separated from the injection needle upon hardening of the resin.

  • Publication number: 20220305213
Abstract: A medication administering device includes upper and lower housings. The lower housing supports a syringe having a needle. A needle guard is in sliding engagement with the lower housing and is proximally movable from a first position, wherein the needle guard conceals a tip of the needle, to a second position, wherein the needle guard exposes the tip of the needle. The upper housing is configured to receive a distally directed force and move relative to the lower housing from a pre-use position to a dispensed position in response to the manual force. When the upper housing is in the pre-use position and the needle guard is in the first position, the upper housing cannot move toward the dispensed position. Proximal movement of the needle guard from the first position to the second position frees the upper housing for movement to the dispensed position in response to the force.

  • Publication number: 20220273866
Abstract: A method of connecting a cartridge having a connection feature to an automatic injector is described. The cartridge, while mechanically coupled with a plunger driver, is arranged into a receiving frame of the automatic injector. The cartridge is slid until reaching a distal stop. The connection feature is linked to an interference element of the receiving frame. The connection feature is slid, such that disconnection of the cartridge is inhibited. Forces generated by the plunger driver on the cartridge through the receiving frame are contained, thereby immobilizing the cartridge with respect to the automatic injector.
