Abstract: A method of operating a device for indicating an event notification to a user comprises indicating a new event through accordingly controlling visual, audible and/or tactile indicators. A user input is received in response to the indicated event. In case a user input in response to the indicated event is not received within a first time period, sensors in the device are controlled to monitor ambient conditions and determine corresponding pattern. In case of a change in the pattern of the ambient conditions by a predetermined amount within a second time period, the new event is indicated once more to the user.

Abstract: A method of controlling a power consumption of a media stream reproducing device having a wide input voltage range power supply includes receiving a media stream and providing an output signal representative of the received media stream. A mains supply voltage of the media stream receiver is monitored and, in case the measured mains supply voltage falls below a first level the method further includes one or more of providing an output signal representative of a message indicating the reduced mains supply voltage and advising a user to reduce the power consumption of at least the media stream reproducing device, or providing an output signal controlling a first reduction of the power consumption of the media stream reproducing device, or controlling a recording device operatively connected to the media stream reproducing device to record the received media stream for later reproduction.

Abstract: Imaging capabilities of a remote control are leveraged to automatically identify a remotely controllable device and program the remote control accordingly. The remote control uses its built-in image device to obtain an image of a remotely controllable device. The image is processed and compared to a database to determine the specific type of device. Other variations include information of a location of the remote control and/or a location of a controllable device to facilitate in determining and controlling a device.

Abstract: A method of setting detection parameters in an apparatus for on-hold music detection, includes comparing a telephone number dialed with telephone numbers in a database. If the telephone number dialed is found in the database, detection parameters and/or detection software associated with the telephone number are retrieved from the database, and the retrieved detection parameters and/or detection software are provided to an on-hold music detection unit.

Abstract: A video processor is responsive to an output of a pair of cameras that are used for determining a viewer viewing direction of a display screen. As long as the viewer's viewing angular direction is directed toward a center region of a display screen, the pan function is disabled. When the viewer's viewing angle crosses a first threshold angular direction away from the screen center, dynamically tracking pan function is enabled so as to shift the displayed picture. When the viewer's viewing angle crosses an even larger, second threshold angular direction, the picture will shift in the same direction but at a faster rate. When the viewer's viewing angular direction decreases in a manner to cross a threshold angular direction that is smaller than the first threshold angular direction further picture shift is suspended. Thereby, a hysteresis feature is incorporated.

Once the viewer's viewing angle crosses a threshold angular direction dynamically tracking pan function is enabled so as to shift the displayed picture. An enhanced audio processor makes the perceived sources of sound produce in speakers dynamically follow the shifted picture. As the displayed image shifts by the dynamically tracking pan function, the locations from which the sound is perceived to originate also track the displayed image so that the stereophonic width dynamically varies in accordance with the stereoscopic width.

Abstract: Pressing device for a casting pipe at the spout of a metallurgical container, wherein the pressing device is provided with spring-loaded pressing elements that can be pressed against guide surfaces of a casting pipe. The casting pipe includes a tubular part and an upper plate. The guide surfaces are arranged on the underside of the plate on both sides of the tubular part and are directed downward at an angle. They form a plate cross-section that is tapered downward. The pressing elements are each provided with a head that is convexly curved in the adjustment direction of the casting pipe and can be pressed against a guide surface of the casting pipe, which is curved in the longitudinal direction of the pressing element or in the adjustment direction. Compressive forces exerted by the pressing pins are optimally transmitted, more toward the casting pipe opening and therefore acting more evenly.

Abstract: Sliding closure for a receptacle containing molten metal includes a housing frame that can be fastened to a spout of the receptacle, a first refractory base plate and a sliding unit having a refractory sliding plate that is sealingly pressed against the first base plate by spring elements and a contiguous refractory spout sleeve contained in the housing frame. The case has a second base plate juxtaposed to the first base plate and displaceable inside the housing frame at a right angle to the direction of movement of the sliding unit from an initial position in which the first base plate is in an operating position towards a final position in which the second base plate is in the operating position. It is therefore possible to replace the base plate, which wears outs quickly, by a new base plate in a rapid and convenient manner without interrupting the casting operation.

The flexible hose allows a user to visualize the effects of cropping on a frame by frame basis. A time axis action identifier aids the user in checking if desired objects are in all frames of the sequence. This is accomplished easily by dragging the time axis identifier through the flexible hose.

Abstract: A closing plate for a sliding closure on the spout of a receptacle for molten metal, especially of a converter, includes an elongate refractory plate and a sheet metal jacket surrounding the same. The refractory plate has a sliding surface which can be braced with a sliding surface of a refractory closure plate interacting therewith or with a sliding surface of a refractory head part. The refractory plate has at least one tapering section which forms an angle with the sliding surface on at least one side delimiting the sliding surface, each tapering section being associated with a section of the refractory plate that projects beyond the sheet metal jacket. The closing plate reduces the risk of damage to the front faces of the refractory parts reduced during bracing of the parts with each other and/or during a relative adjustment of the refractory parts that are braced with each other.
