  • Patent number: 8564978
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide an off line DC-DC converter comprising a transformer (180) coupled to a monolithic integrated circuit (400). The transformer applies an input supply DC voltage (Vin) applied to a primary winding (181) of the transformer to produce an output supply DC voltage provided from a secondary winding (182). The monolithic integrated circuit (400) comprises a switching regulator including a switch (151) and a switch controller (100) on a first portion of the monolithic integrated circuit. A capacitive isolator (201) is provided on a second portion of the monolithic integrated circuit. The monolithic integrated circuit regulates the output supply DC voltage and isolates the output supply DC voltage from the input supply DC voltage with respect to electrical shock hazard.

  • Patent number: 8482939
Abstract: A switching “power (100) includes a single, power switching Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (MOSFET) (Q1) that without any additional transistor provides both self-oscillation and over-current protection. A transformer (Tr1) that is included in a positive feedback path of the MOSFET has a tapped (intermediate terminal 103) auto-transformer winding. A source terminal (102) of the MOSFET is coupled via a current limiting resistor (R2) to a junction terminal between first (n1)and second (n2) windings of the tapped auto-transformer (Tr1). The first winding forms the primary winding of the transformer and the second winding is coupled to a gate terminal of the MOSFET to form a regenerative feedback path. The second winding is direct-current (DC) coupled to the gate terminal to avoid the need for any discrete capacitor in the positive feedback path.

  • Patent number: 8422252
Abstract: An integrated circuit (IC) forming a pulse-width modulator controls the switching operation of an output stage of a switching power supply. A snubber capacitor that is coupled to a primary winding of a transformer of the output stage is used for producing a capacitive coupled charging current. The capacitive coupled charging current is coupled to a filter or charge storage second capacitor for producing in the second capacitor a first portion of a second power supply voltage. During a portion of a switching cycle of the output stage, the snubber capacitor is coupled to an inductor to form a resonant circuit. The resonant circuit produces in the second capacitor a second portion of the second power supply voltage for energizing the IC. The second power supply voltage is used for energizing the IC.

  • Publication number: 20120273532
Abstract: The invention relates to a sliding closure (1) for a metallurgical container, comprising two fireproof closing plates (3; 5), of which one is arranged in a slide unit (6) and is used to open and close a spout opening (10). The other closing plate (3) is arranged in a metal housing (2) that can be fastened to the container. Said stationary housing (2) and the slide unit (6) also accommodate an upper fireproof inlet sleeve (4) on the container side and a lower fireproof spout sleeve (8). In the housing (2) and in the slide unit (6), at least one additional inner part (2a, 2a?, 7a) is arranged in each case, each additional inner part enclosing the spout sleeve (8) or the inlet sleeve (4). Thus, thermal stresses in the slide unit or in the housing can be reduced and the risk of cracks forming can be significantly reduced.

  • Publication number: 20120217272
Abstract: The invention relates to a fireproof unit for a sliding closure at the spout of a container containing metal melt, comprising a fireproof adapter block (21) that can be placed on the container spout, a fireproof bottom plate (10) connected thereto, to which bottom plate a slidable fireproof sliding plate (18) can be connected, wherein the sliding plate allows the sliding closure (1) to be opened or closed. In addition to the first bottom plate (10) connected to the adapter block (21), a second bottom plate (12) adjoins the adapter block. The second bottom plate can be slid in under the adapter block to replace the first bottom plate. The adapter block (21) has such a length in the direction of the second bottom plate (12) that the adapter block is in sliding contact with said second bottom plate (12) at the lower sliding surface (21?) of the adapter block.

  • Publication number: 20120119486
Abstract: The invention relates to a pressing device for a casting pipe at the spout of a metallurgical container, wherein the pressing device is provided with spring-loaded pressing elements (2) that can be pressed against guide surfaces (10) of a casting pipe (1). The casting pipe (1) comprises a tubular part (4) and an upper plate (5). The guide surfaces (10) are arranged on the underside of the plate (5) on both sides of the tubular part (4) and are directed downward at an angle. They form a plate cross-section that is tapered downward. The pressing elements (2) are each provided with a head (2a) that is convexly curved in the adjustment direction (A) of the casting pipe (1) and can be pressed against a guide surface (10) of the casting pipe (1), which is curved in the longitudinal direction of the pressing element or in the adjustment direction (A). Thus, the compressive forces exerted by the pressing pins are optimally transmitted, more toward the casting pipe opening and therefore acting more evenly.

  • Publication number: 20110127265
Abstract: The invention relates to a sliding closure (1) for a receptacle containing molten metal, comprising a housing frame (3) that can be fastened to a spout of the receptacle, a refractory base plate (5) and a sliding unit (7) having a refractory sliding plate (8) that can be sealingly pressed against the base plate by means of spring elements (11) and a contiguous refractory spout sleeve (9) being contained in said housing frame. The case (4) has a second base plate (6) juxtaposed to the base plate (5) and can be displaced inside the housing frame (3) at a right angle to the direction of movement of the sliding unit (7) from an initial position in which the base plate (5) is in an operating position towards a final position in which the second base plate (6) is in the operating position. It is therefore possible to replace the base plate, which especially in converters wears outs very quickly, by a new base plate in a rapid and convenient manner without interrupting the casting operation.

  • Publication number: 20100147905
Abstract: A sliding closure for a metallurgical vessel comprises an elongated refractory slide plate (2), which is exchangeably arranged in a metal frame (1) and the longitudinal direction (L) of which corresponds to the direction of displacement of the sliding closure. Also provided are means (3) for bracing the slide plate (2) in the metal frame (1), which comprise a wedge shoe (10) that is loaded by a spring (9) and can be adjusted transversely in relation to the direction of displacement of the sliding closure. This wedge shoe (10) is operatively connected to a counterpart (11), which can be brought into connection with the slide plate (2) and acts on the slide plate (2) in its longitudinal direction (L). The oscillating movements of the movable slide plate taking place during operation are absorbed and the bracing device ensures satisfactory bracing of this slide plate at any time.
