    Abstract: An amplifier (60) provides an amplified video signal in response to a video input signal supplied thereto. A cathode current sensor (Q3), couples an output of the amplifier to the cathode of a kinescope (20) and also provides an output current (Ik) proportional to the kinescope cathode current. A feedback path (82) applies a portion of the sensed cathode current provided by the cathode current sensor to a circuit node (65 or 63) in the amplifier for imparting gamma correction to images produced by the kinescope. In one application the cathode current is apportioned (Q3, Q5) to provide gamma correction for the kinescope and to provide automatic kinescope bias (AKB) control.

    Abstract: A metallurgical vessel has a refractory head piece and a vessel outlet at the refractory head piece. A sliding gate valve for this metallurgical vessel includes a housing frame that is mounted to the vessel at the outlet so as to be removable therefrom. A slider unit is mounted in the housing frame having a sliding plate therein. A refractory base plate is also mounted in the housing frame, and has an upper side with a plane sliding surface that is engaged with the refractory head piece and a lower side having a lower sliding surface that is parallel to the plane sliding surface. The sliding plate is pressed against the lower sliding surface of the refractory base plate. The refractory base plate is fixed in the housing frame in a direction parallel to the sliding surfaces of the refractory base plate, but is movable in the housing frame in a direction perpendicular to the sliding surface of the refractory base plate.

    Abstract: A discharge assembly for controlling the discharge of molten metal from a vessel includes a stator member mounted to extend through the vessel and a rotor member coupled to the stator member to be rotatable relative thereto. A lateral opening in the rotor member is brought into and out of alignment with a lateral opening in the stator member, thereby opening communication to a longitudinal discharge passage through the stator member. One of the members has a projection fitting into a recess in the other member, with complementary sliding sealing surfaces therebetween. The projection comprises an insert formed separately from the respectively member and fixed thereto to be non-rotatable relative thereto.

    Abstract: A slide gate nozzle for controlling the discharge of molten metal from a spout of a converter vessel includes a refractory bottom plate to be positioned stationarily with a discharge opening thereof aligned with an opening of the spout. A refractory slide valve plate is mounted for sliding movement relative to the bottom plate such that a discharge opening of the slide valve plate is brought into and out of alignment with the discharge opening of the bottom plate. A plurality of refractory shut-off plates are positioned sealingly between the bottom plate and the slide valve plate. A coupling mechanism is operably mounted to the shut-off plates to sequentially connect the shut-off plates rigidly either to the bottom plate or to the slide valve plate. As a result, the shut-off plates may be used sequentially to replace the slide valve plate.

    Abstract: A unit for controlling the discharge of molten metal from a metallurgical vessel includes a valve having a refractory stator fixed to refractory material of the unit constituting lining of the vessel and a refractory rotor disposed in the stator and movable relative to the stator between open and closed positions of the valve. The stator and the rotor have flow control passageways extending therein which can place the interior of the metallurgical vessel in communication with a discharge opening of the valve. A seal is established between the stator and the rotor over a portion thereof that surrounds the flow control passageways such that molten metal may not pass from the flow control passageways into an area between the stator and the rotor.

The movable frame and movable refractory plate are urged toward the stationary refractory plate by levers mounted in the housing assembly for pivotal movement about axles fixed to the housing assembly and extending transverse to the direction of movement of the movable frame and movable refractory plate. Springs are mounted in the housing assembly to urge the levers to pivot about the respective axles toward the movable frame to thereby urge the movable frame and movable refractory plate toward the stationary refractory plate.

The free end of the pin is adapted to be displaced by the cam towards the cutting insert. A rotary refractory plate is positioned in sliding abutting contact with the stationary refractory plate, has therethrough a plurality of flow passages to be moved selectively into and out of alignment with the flow passage of the stationary refractory plate, and has an annular, ring-shaped configuration. A rotary support frame supports the rotary refractory plate against the stationary refractory plate for rotational movement with respect thereto. The stationary and rotary refractory plates have complementary, annular, abutting relative sliding surfaces.

A drive permits running either the reel or the rollers. A thread-laying device can be synchronized with the rotation of the reel by means of cog wheels. Each reel has a driven squeezing part. A drying station follows the wet stations with two thread take-up rollers and a spool station. The purpose of this machine is to treat, specifically to mercerize thread. The machine does not produce in excess nor does it produce substandard quality.

    Abstract: A system for conveying molded bricks known as briquettes from a press to a bed plate wherein the briquettes are each conveyed by a plurality of spaced parallel belts to above a conveyor which carries the bed plates under the briquettes supported by the conveyor belts. An inclined substantially coplanar conveyance track which includes elongated rollers has its after portion periodically raised whereby the rollers located in the after portion penetrate upwardly between the belts carrying the briquettes thus lifting the briquettes from the belt. A removal mechanism pushes the briquettes down the rollers of the conveyance track onto a removal plate which pivots with the conveyance track and extends therefrom at a slight incline, the briquettes being received by the main conveyor carrying the bed plates whereby the briquettes are pushed over the conveyance track and onto the bed plate.
