  • Publication number: 20050129382
Abstract: An increase in the span of the transmission distance is aimed at by reducing unwanted ASE generated during optical communication. A carbon nanotube is employed as a saturable absorber 15 and this saturable absorber constitutes a noise reduction apparatus that has the function of cutting off or reducing transmission of unwanted ASE or the like which is of weak signal light intensity and of allowing transmission of signal light of strong light intensity. This noise reduction apparatus is arranged for example in the transmission path of signal light of a bidirectional excitation type EDFA, more precisely the apparatus is inserted in the latter stage of the EDF 40. In this way, carbon nanotubes having a saturable absorption function can be utilized in the field of optical communication.

  • Patent number: 6856277
Abstract: In the on-vehicle radar apparatus of the present invention, the vertical scanning width of the radar beam is narrowed, before the horizontal scanning, thereby avoiding unnecessary data processing and improving the data processing efficiently. Further, the S/N ratio of the target detection signal is increased, thereby stabilizing the distance detection and its accuracy. The vertical scanning antenna is a single travelling wave excitation antenna (TWEA) constructed by a plurality of antenna elements. At the same time, the horizontal scanning antenna is a multi-channel antenna wherein a plurality of TWEAs is assigned to a plurality of horizontal directions. The horizontal scanning angle is arbitrarily widened by increasing the number of TWEAs.

  • Publication number: 20040121513
Abstract: A die bonding apparatus having a bonding tool which, upon mounting a chip on a substrate, adsorbs and holds the chip, and transports the chip to a die bonding position, and bonds the chip onto a surface of the substrate. The bonding tool includes a bonding head, a motor, a load cell, and a controller. The bonding head adsorbs and holds a chip at its end, and applies bonding load to the chip from above. The motor drives said bonding head to move downward such that said bonding head applies bonding load to the chip. The load cell senses said bonding load applied to the chip. The controller sequentially calculates a command voltage output to said motor taking account of said bonding load fed back from said load cell, and speed-controls said motor load such that the output voltage to said motor gradually decreases in response to increment of said bonding.

  • Patent number: 5940314
Abstract: A ultra-high density memory device utilizing a photoinductive ferromagnetic thin film. A photoinductive ferromagnetic thin film is formed on a GaAs substrate, and a tip is arranged so as to face the photoinductive ferromagnetic thin film. The GaAs substrate is disposed on an xyz scanner, and the three-dimensional positional relationship between the GaAs substrate and the tip is changed by the xyz scanner. Blue light is radiated onto the thin film in order to make the magnetization orientation of molecules uniform. Through application of a relatively high voltage, a relatively large current is caused to flow between the tip and the substrate, so that randomization of the magnetization orientation of molecules of the photoinductive ferromagnetic thin film; i.e., writing operation is carried out.

  • Patent number: 5128639
Abstract: A hybrid element for phase shifting an input signal and providing a phase shifted output signal includes conductive plates which are capacitive coupled together. The hybrid element includes four terminals: an input terminal for receiving an input signal, an isolation terminal capacitive coupled with the input terminal and for providing an output signal, a through terminal connected directly with the input terminal, and a coupling terminal capacitive coupled with the input terminal. A distributed constant line and an FET are connected in pair with the through and coupling terminals, respectively, the other end of the distributed constant line being connected with earth. When the FET is turned on or off, the amount of phase shift in the phase shifter is controlled. Since the FET and distributed constant line are connected together in parallel, the amount of phase shift can be adjusted easily by turning the FET on or off.

  • Patent number: 4984483
Abstract: A control system for an automatic transmission apparatus for vehicle in which, when an instruction signal to start a speed shift is generated, the engaging force of one engaging element to be released is controlled so that the rotation speed of the input shaft is regulated to be equal to a predetermined reference rotation speed higher that the rotation speed before the generation of the instruction signal and, after an effective shift is detected, the engaging force of the other engaging element to be engaged is controlled so that the changing rate of the rotation speed of the input shaft converges to a predetermined reference changing rate, thereby preventing simultaneous complete engagement of both engaging elements and accomplishing a smooth change-over of the torque transmission path.

  • Patent number: 4813307
Abstract: A method of controlling the hydraulic pressure for an automatic transmission gear system, in which the actual rotation speed of a rotatable element during a speed shift from, for example, the 1st speed ratio to the 2nd speed ratio is detected, and the hydraulic pressure supplied to a frictional engaging element acting to change the rotation speed of the rotatable element is controlled so that the rate of change of the rotation speed of the rotatable element can converge to a predetermined change rate when the speed change rate due to the speed shift is ideal. On the other basis of the hydraulic pressure supplied to the frictional engaging element in the final state of the speed shift, the initial hydraulic pressure to be supplied to the frictional engaging element immediately after starting of the next speed shift is computed.

  • Patent number: 4793216
Abstract: A control apparatus controls engaging states of first and second engaging elements selectively engaged with an input shaft during a gearshift operation. During downshift from a relatively high speed ratio to a relatively low speed ratio, the control apparatus controls such that the first engaging element is moved to a position immediately before engagement or to an initial engaging position, rotation speed of the input shaft changes with a first changing rate until a transmission gear system reaches predetermined speed and changes with a second changing rate after that, and when the rotation speed of the input shaft corresponds to that of the relatively low speed, an engaging force of the first engaging element is increased.
