Patent number: 5962957Abstract: By heating a glass sealing material, a center electrode is sealed and fixed within an axial bore of an insulator. Formation of a groove in a head portion of the center electrode makes it possible to protect the head portion of the center electrode from deformation under a pressure which is applied upon filling the glass sealing material in a powder form in the axial bore. The glass sealing material is therefore assured to flow to a peripheral side wall of a flange portion of the center electrode, thereby enhancing mechanical engagement between the center electrode and the insulator, that is, uniting strength for them. A spark plug is hence obtained with improved impact resistance and accordingly, with sufficient durability.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1997Date of Patent: October 5, 1999Assignee: NGK Spark Plug Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yutaka Tanaka, Minoru Ando, Mitsutaka Yoshida

Patent number: 5590153Abstract: In order to reduce radio interference jamming in the same channel exerting from an adjacent broadcasting area when a digitized image signal of, for example, high-definition television utilizing an idle channel in ground broadcasting of television is transmitted, a digital string such as a binary coded image signal is thinned out every predetermined digital period so as to be divided into two groups. Continuous digital strings of two series are formed by converting clock rates of the respective groups and converted into multi-value digits. Intermediate carriers are then modulated with the digital signals of the two series having their requisite bands compressed through quadrature modulation to form modulated carriers, and the modulated carriers are transmitted in bands of two divisional channels which escape from adjacent video and voice carriers, the power of which is responsible for the radio interference in the same channel. The carriers are subsequently received for reconstruction.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 1994Date of Patent: December 31, 1996Assignee: Nippon Hoso KyokaiInventors: Yutaka Tanaka, Minoru Honda

Patent number: 5528313Abstract: A motion detection signal delivered from a mixer is output through a series circuit of a maximum value calculation portion and a minimum value calculation portion. In each of the calculation portions, calculation is performed within a block of 3-dot.times.3-line. Missing of motion detection is prevented from occurring in the maximum value calculation portion because the motion detection signal of the pixel under attention is calculated therein with the values within the block and, accordingly, the motion detection signal is expanded in the horizontal and vertical directions. A detection spread to a still picture portion occurring in the calculation portion is suppressed in the minimum value calculation portion because, when surrounding motion detection signals therein are lower than the motion detection signal of the pixel under attention, the motion detection signal of the pixel under attention is replaced with the lower value.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1992Date of Patent: June 18, 1996Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Yutaka Tanaka, Shigeo Fujishiro
