Patent number: 4135287Abstract: A snap fastener attaching system employs a moveable carriage assembly which is controlled in linear motion by a belt system coupled to an actuator mechanism. The carriage assembly includes clamping means which are sequentially operated to clamp a garment on the assembly after emplacement by an operator. The depression of a start button enables the actuator to traverse a shaft. Associated with the actuator is a pivotable arm which is located in proximity to a selected shaft of a cam-containing turret assembly. As the actuator moves, the carriage moves proportionately due to the belt coupling system. Each time the actuator arm contacts a cam along the turret shaft, a fastener is emplaced on the garment by the snap fastener attaching machine associated with the carriage assembly. When the last fastener is emplaced, the apparatus is automatically returned to the starting position to enable accommodation of the next garment.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 1978Date of Patent: January 23, 1979Assignee: Rau Fastener, A Division of U.S. Industries, Inc.Inventor: Herbert M. Patent number: 4135289Abstract: A method for making a metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) is disclosed that results in a semiconductor device structure in which the source and drain regions are buried in the structure beneath a typically thick oxide and bulge out in the semiconductor underneath, but not contiguous with, the interface of a typically thin gate oxide with the semiconductor. This bulging of the buried drain, in an N-channel device, results in an electric field profile during operation which curves away from the interface in the neighborhood of the drain, thereby reducing deleterious transport of electrons from the channel to the gate oxide. The method can also be adapted for fabricating integrated memory cell arrays. This adaptation involves the implantation of one or more layers of dopant ions in the region of the semiconductor between the oxide interface and the bulging portion of the buried drain.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1977Date of Patent: January 23, 1979Assignee: Bell Telephone Laboratories, IncorporatedInventors: John R. Patent number: 4135292Abstract: An integrated circuit aluminum-silicon electrical contact may be fabricated in a diffusion region formed in a monocrystalline silicon semiconductor layer by converting the upper portion of the diffusion region into an amorphous region. Alloy pitting is substantially decreased since the solubility of silicon in aluminum is highly dependent upon crystallographic orientation of the silicon and decreases as the silicon approaches an amorphous form. The amorphous region may be formed by implanting arsenic ions with an energy of at least 180 keV and a dosage of approximately 10.sup.15 ions/cm.sup.2.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1976Date of Patent: January 23, 1979Assignee: Intersil, Inc.Inventors: James M. Patent number: 4135331Abstract: A seedling sprouter comprises a base which supports a screen therein and a complimentary cover. The cover and base lock together by means which allow the cover to be spaced from the base when the sprouter is being drained. A closure on the cover is rotatable to three positions in which water may be added to the sprouter, water may be drained from the sprouter without the loss of the sprouted seeds therein, or the sprouter may be sealed.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1977Date of Patent: January 23, 1979Inventor: Stewart Lamlee

Patent number: 4135332Abstract: A mobile rail grinding machine for grinding the running surface of the rails of a track comprises a grinding module mounted for power-driven vertical movement on a machine frame which runs on undercarriages on the track rails. The undercarriages have flanged wheels pressed without play against the track rails. The grinding module is associated with a respective track rail and is arranged laterally adjacent a respective side of the track rail. It includes a carrier frame, a grinding unit carrier mounted thereon adjustably positionable relative to the machine frame and the carrier frame, a grinding unit mounted on the grinding unit carrier, and a shaping tool for profiling the grinding surface of a rotatable grinding tool of the grinding unit which is arranged for continuously grinding one side of the track rail running surface as the machine frame and the grinding unit move in the operating direction.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1976Date of Patent: January 23, 1979Assignee: Franz Plasser Bahnbaumaschinen-Industriegesellschaft m.b.H.Inventor: Josef Theurer

Patent number: 4135333Abstract: An apparatus for grinding cylindrical lenses, comprising a frame supporting a motor-driven apparatus in which a vertical driving pin is adapted to be moved parallel to itself, in complex motion, which is substantially non-repetitive. Three separate drive means are provided for producing eccentric motion of selected amplitude, and individually controllable relative phase angle with each other. The driving pin is connected with a universal joint, to a vertical post which is pivoted at its bottom end, and adapted for angular motion forward and backward and to each side, but does not have any component of rotary motion about its own axis. Arm means are provided attached to the post, for pressing a lens block holding a lens to be ground, against a stationary lap, so as to grind a cylindrical surface on the lens.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1977Date of Patent: January 23, 1979Inventor: Joe D. Patent number: 4135334Abstract: A dust exhausting hood is for use with surface working machines such as surface grinders. To enable the hood to remain in close contact with the surface being worked, a mantle which surrounds the working tool is connected to a mounting ring, engaged on the machine head, by guide means which permit both axial movement and tilting of the mantle of the hood with respect to its mounting ring, the mantle being constantly urged into contact with the worked surface by means of a compression spring acting between the mounting ring and the mantle. To permit maximum axial movement of the mantle, within limits, with respect to the mounting ring, the spring is a helical spiral spring which can be compressed into planar form.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1976Date of Patent: January 23, 1979Assignee: Firma Robert Bosch GmbHInventor: Gunter Rudiger

Patent number: 4135335Abstract: A blocking-up wedge of the kind used in pairs for the levelling of joists and the like consisting of a prismatic-shaped body, the terminal surfaces of which being triangles, and at least one wedge surface being provided with a relatively great friction profiled formation in such a direction that the mutual displacement of the pair of wedges reducing the distance between the parallel supporting surfaces of the pair of wedges is principally prevented and lateral shifting of the wedges is controlled or prevented.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 1977Date of Patent: January 23, 1979Inventor: Karsten Jensen

Patent number: 4135336Abstract: A plastic guy wire guard which is comprised of a pair of substantially cylindrical tubular portions which are integrally joined to one another by a rapidly tapering neck portion. The design achieves substantial material savings and features a universal single sized guard for installation over any of a plurality of differently sized guy wires and associated anchor assemblies. The plastic guard may be manufactured in a continuous process which features imparting a memory characteristic to the smaller diameter portion of the guard. Upon installation, the larger diameter portion is caused to contract as a means for securing the guard to the anchor. Contraction may be caused by application of heat, either via the sun or a portable source.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1976Date of Patent: January 23, 1979Assignee: Virginia Plastics CompanyInventor: Stephen B.
