  • Patent number: PP10494
Abstract: An all white clone of the known Asiatic lily cultivar `Montreux`. The new white clone has creamy "off white" color tepalage with a blush of pink in the nectary zone of the tepals. `Montreux, alba` bears upright flowers from a tightly formed racemose inflorescence (meaning there is often only a few cm between first and second flower pedicel.) The secondary flowers are in a more loose formation. The bud shape and flower form are identical to the parent plant `Montreux`. The white clone should be particularly valuable because of its superior stem strength and bud retention during the winter months under natural light conditions in greenhouse forced production. By comparison, there are few or no white Asiatics that will perform well in the darker months without the addition of high intensity discharge lighting to prevent bud abortion. Like its parent, `Montreux, alba` exhibits excellent long bud form, thick petals and good vase life as a cut flower.

  • Patent number: RE35843
Abstract: A low pressure aerosol dispensing can which is distinguished from existing high pressure aerosol dispensing cans. The generally cylindrical can has a thin wall thickness, like that of a carbonated beverage can, which can be distorted by finger pressure but whose shape is maintained by internal gas pressure. The liquid contents to be dispensed and the propellant gas are mixed in the can. The dispensing valve at the top of the can dispenses the liquid contents and propellant in a controlled manner. The valve may include an additional narrow bore vapor tap between the gaseous propellant head space in the can and the valve chamber for delivering extra gas for atomizing the liquid and propelling it from the nozzle. The gas pressure in the can is coordinated with the can wall and bottom thickness so that the can will have sufficient distortion resistance and burst resistance at elevated temperature.

  • Patent number: RE35844
Abstract: A trough structure is provided for bending a web of paper widthwise to provide beam strength and controllability to the web of paper, for aiding in guiding the web of paper in a straight path. The trough structure causes the paper to curl widthwise to conform with the shape of the trough structure. The trough structure comprises a concave or convex lower wall upon which the paper flows, open ends through which the paper flows, and shoulders which attach to both sides of the lower wall and extend substantially horizontally from the sides of the lower wall to symmetrical positions above the lower wall. The shoulders act to contain the paper in the trough structure and guide the paper through the trough structure. A drive roll is provided for driving the paper through the trough structure. No buckling of the paper is caused when any slight misalignment occurs between the paper and the drive roll, and this slight misalignment is self-correcting due to the edge guiding function of the trough structure.

  • Patent number: RE35849
Abstract: An indwelling stent is disclosed which facilitates the drainage of fluids through a duct within the body, and which is easily removed when needed. The disclosed stent is a double wing stent and includes multiple flaps at each end for anchoring and has a continuously uninterrupted drainage tube therebetween. Constructed at the outflow end of the stent is a wick, which is made of an extended arcical section of the drainage tube of the stent and serves to enhance drainage by providing a "wicking" effect for fluid as it exits the stent's outflow end, while inhibiting reflux by allowing for the sphincter at the exit of the obstructed duct to function in a normal manner. The wick further serves to facilitate removal by providing a portion which is easily graspable by an instrument inserted into the body for retention and removal.

  • Patent number: 5778458
Abstract: The invention is basically a bedpan liner. The liner is made out of paper that is biodegradable and flushable down a toilet. The paper is cut out in a pattern that fits the bedpan. The sides of the paper are crimped upward to fit the sides on the bedpan. In use the bedpan liner is basically placed within a bedpan and placed in position under the patient so that his waste material will go into the bedpan protected by the bedpan liner. When the patient is done, the person cleaning the bedpan takes the bedpan out, walks over to the toilet, lifts the lid and toilet seat and tilts the bedpan down so that the liner with the waste will slide out of the bedpan and into the toilet. The cleaning person the flushes the toilet, which disposes of the waste and the bedpan liner. The bedpan is then washed and relined for the next use.

  • Patent number: 5778464
Abstract: An enclosure for one of a tray and bathroom tub where a spacer is attached to an upstanding flange provided on the enclosure. The upstanding flange abuts a room wall such that a wall liner overlaps the upstanding flange and is spaced from the flange thereby providing an air gap therebetween which reduces the likelihood of water to be drawn through capillary action between the wall liner and the upstanding flange.

  • Patent number: 5778466
Abstract: An improved box spring assembly is selectively reinforced to reduce sagging. The box spring assembly includes a bottom frame with end rails and side rails and a series of cross slats lying across the frame. The box spring assembly incorporates a combination of conventional flat cross slats and reinforcing cross slats, each supporting a number of spring modules of complementary height, giving the box spring uniform height throughout. The spring modules are attached to a grid top, and the grid top and spring modules are enclosed by a fabric cover. By using reinforced cross slats in locations where extra strength is needed and conventional cross slats elsewhere, the improved box spring assembly reduces sagging that could otherwise occur, without incurring the extra cost and weight of using reinforcing cross slats throughout.

  • Patent number: 5778471
Abstract: A device for storing a supply of emergency potable water includes a tank member which is especially configured to store unobtrusively in the home. The tank member is configured to connect into the domestic fresh cold water supply to an automatic clothes washer, and to sit alongside of the clothes washer, possibly in a gap defined between this washing machine and an adjacent clothes dryer machine. The tank member is configured to insure that a circulation of water occurs each time the washing machine draws fresh cold water during operation to wash clothing, and to insure that sediment does not collect in the tank member. Thus, a self-refreshing supply of potable water is provided which is of no significant inconvenience to store in the home. Further, the tank member, or a tray-like member nested atop this tank member, is configured to form a convenient adjunct and continuation of horizontal utility surfaces provided commonly at the top of clothes washers and dryers.
