Abstract: The rotation of a rotating magnet is detected by magnetic sensors. The rotational speed is detected from pulse signals detected by magnetic sensors, and the rotational direction thereof is detected from the difference in the way of making a shift in phase. Signals different in pulse width are generated according to the rotational direction. A signal selection circuit outputs a corresponding pulse signal with timing for the rotational speed. A rotational speed determining circuit outputs a decision signal Sf of a high level when the rotational speed reaches a predetermined speed. When a self-diagnostic circuit determines that the magnetic sensors have malfunctioned, a binary error code generating circuit generates an error signal Sg and a 4-bit error code signal Sh.

Abstract: A microprocessor couples to a voltage sensor through an analog to digital converter. The voltage sensor is adapted to be coupled across terminals of a battery. A small current source is also provided and adapted to be coupled across the terminal to the battery. The current source is momentarily applied to the battery and the resulting change in voltage is monitored using the microprocessor. The microprocessor calculates battery conductance based upon the magnitude of the differential current and the change in voltage and thereby determines the condition of the battery.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for probing target pads in a dense pad array while minimizing distortion of a signal on the pads probed due to the probe load on the target pads and minimizing an amount of cross-talk between aggressor conductors in the dense pad array and the probe tip. In one embodiment, a probe tip arrangement is provided comprising a pad located in a dense pad array and a first probe tip resistor having first and second ends, the first end being coupled to the pad. The first probe tip resistor is positioned directly adjacent to the pad as closely as manufacturing processes will allow. The probe tip arrangement further includes an access transmission line coupled to the second end of the first probe tip resistor and extending outside of the dense pad array to a second probe tip resistor. The second probe tip resistor may, in turn, be coupled to an electrical connector which in turn is coupled to a logic analyzer or oscilloscope to test the signal on the respective pad of the pad array.

Abstract: The invention pertains to an improved method and circuit arrangement for signal processing. The invention is advantageously used for processing analog signals in applications in which low energy consumption is of the essence. An idea of the invention is to achieve an integrator topology where the active charge-transferring element is a preferably source-follower-type transistor in which one input terminal is arranged so as to be substantially independent of the input signal and in which the essential signal path elements of the circuit topology are connected in a fixed manner. The circuit arrangement according to the invention is realized preferably in such a manner that it comprises separate transistors for sampling and charge transfer. Thus it is possible to connect an input signal in a fixed manner to an input terminal of the sampling transistor, and an input terminal of the charge-transferring transistor can be connected in a fixed manner to a constant voltage.

Abstract: A user terminal device has a computer, a software for the user terminal device, a telephone, a video camera and a virtual office display device. Generally, working state, condition or the like of another user is displayed on a screen of the virtual office display device. A user's state is recognized on the basis of an image of the user taken by the video camera. In a case where the user continuously looks toward the virtual office display device for a period longer than a time previously determined by the user, the screen of the virtual office display device is switched to a rest room screen, and the user is moved to a rest room in a virtual space. In that rest room, the user can communicate with another user utilizing a cooperative rest tool. The cooperative rest tool includes a voice meeting tool, a character meeting tool and a multiuser game tool.

Abstract: A timer reservation device which can display the recordable term of a reserved program to be executed repetitively, as well as of a one-shot reservation. In the timer reservation device, a CPU calculates up to what date the reserved program to be executed repetitively is recordable on a record medium, based on the remaining recordable capacity of the record medium and the recording time of one execution of the reserved program, and displays the date on a display unit. Moreover, even in the presence of another reserved program to reserve a recording only at a designated date, the date up to which the recording by the repetitive reserved program is executable can be calculated likewise, based on the recording time of the reserved program to be executed only at a designated date as well. Then, the date can be displayed to improve inconveniences resulting from shortage of record medium capacity available.

Abstract: Conventional method sets up parameters for a monitor by using the panel buttons installed in the front of the monitor, especially when the monitor is first connected to a computer. However, it is inconvenient to use the panel buttons to set up a monitor. To overcome the shortcomings of the available art, a monitor set up application displays a visual interface for setting up a monitor. The visual interface provides a pattern background and an adjustment window. Monitor adjustments can be performed through the adjustment window. The pattern background changes in response to each step of the adjustment, so that a user can observe the impacts of the adjustment. In addition, based on the model of the monitor, the visual interface provides the message indicating the recommended adjustments to the monitor.

Abstract: On a computer, components forming a development subject are arranged on a scenario editor by using basic component parts, and the component data are set. And a procedure call sequence is defined by specifying procedures of defined components in order of call. The call sequence data is generated in the computer as scenario data. Then, the defined group of scenarios are selected and reflected on the model editor. A whole requirement is created. At that time, a procedure name to be called subsequently on the connection line between components is acquired from the defined procedure sequence data, and a program for effecting animation is generated. Finally, by executing the generated animation program, the procedure call sequence is displayed in an animation form and the requirement is created.

The apparatus for controlling the OSD font height includes a horizontal line number generator and a font height generator. The horizontal line number generator generates information on the number of horizontal lines of a display region of the display device. The font height generator receives a predetermined font height reference value and the horizontal line number information, obtains automatic font height, and generates the automatic font height. The font height reference number is preferably the number of OSD fonts to be displayed in a vertical direction in the display region.

Abstract: A liquid jetting apparatus of the invention includes a pressure chamber having an inside space whose volume is changeable, into which a liquid is supplied and which is communicated with a nozzle. A Helmholtz resonance frequency of the pressure chamber has a period of TH. A signal-generating unit generates a driving signal, which includes a first signal-element for causing the pressure chamber to expand, a second signal-element for causing the pressure chamber to contract from an expanded state thereof in order to jet a drop of the liquid through the nozzle, and and a third signal-element for causing the pressure chamber to expand to an original state before outputting the first signal-element after the drop of the liquid is jetted. A pressure-generating unit causes the pressure chamber to expand and contract, based on the driving signal.

Abstract: An ink-jet printer with a maintenance mechanism uses a single-cam to clean and maintain a recording head. The cam is driven by a paper-feed motor in the forward direction during the maintenance operations. When the recording head is disposed in a maintenance area, the driving force of the paper-feed motor is transferred to the cam via a coupler. In one revolution of the cam, a suction cap, a suction pump, and a wiper are driven at a predetermined timing to clean the recording head. The paper-feed motor is also used to drive the platen roller during the recording operation. Because a common motor is used to drive the platen roller and the cam, and because a single cam completes the maintenance operations in one revolution, the structure and its control are simplified.

Abstract: One aspect of the present invention is a method for adapting an ink jet printing system for receiving an alternate supply of ink. The ink jet printing system has an ink jet printhead responsive to control signals for selectively depositing ink on media. Also included in the printing system is a docking station configured for receiving a replaceable ink container. The replaceable ink container includes a fluid outlet that is arranged to establish fluid communication with a fluid inlet associated with the docking station upon insertion of the replaceable ink container into the docking station. The replaceable ink container provides a supply of ink from the replaceable ink container to the ink jet printhead. The method includes disconnecting a fluid conduit extending between the fluid inlet and the ink jet printhead thereby interrupting the supply of ink from the replaceable ink container to the ink jet printhead.
