Abstract: A shirt collar in which the material forming at least the neckband, but alternatively both the neckband and the collar, is arranged with the weave thereof on a bias so that in the event the length of the threads shrinks there is only a negligible reduction in the circumferential size of the collar, and the collar is stretchable in a direction parallel to the circumferential direction. The stitching that forms the seams attaching the collar to the neckband, and the neckband to the body of the shirt, may be applied in a pattern, e.g., zig-zag or skip stitching, that enables the seams to stretch in the circumferential direction of the collar.

  • Publication number: 20010003853
Abstract: Pressurized filtered exhaust air from a motorized fan in a vacuum cleaner body passes on an exhaust path to a floor suction tool. The exhaust air is directed by the floor suction tool generally parallel to the surface to be cleaned to agitate dust and thus to improve cleaning performance. An electric motor in the floor suction tool drives a rotation brush. The exhaust air is also directed toward the rotation brush in the floor suction tool in a direction to add rotation force to the rotation brush. Feeder lines to the electric motor pass through the exhaust path so that the feeder lines are exposed only to filtered air. Passing the feeder lines through the exhaust path avoids the necessity to make special provision for the feeder lines. The exhaust path passes along a hose, and may optionally pass along one or more extension pipes on its way to the floor suction tool.

Abstract: A thin film magnetic recording head utilizing a timing based servo pattern is fabricated using a focused ion beam (FIB). The recording head is fabricated by sputtering a magnetically permeable thin film onto a substrate. A gap pattern, preferably a timing based pattern, is defined on the thin film and the FIB cuts a gap through the thin film based on that pattern. Once completed, the recording head is used to write a servo track onto magnetic tape. The timing based servo track then allows for the precise alignment of data read heads based on the positional information obtained by a servo read head which scans the continuously variable servo track.

Abstract: In a production apparatus (1), after rear holders (7a, 7b) and a housing body (8) are molded by molding die cavities, slides (11a, 11b) are moved apart from the housing body (8). Then, cylinders (16a, 16b) are driven to move the rear holders (7a, 7b), holders (13a, 13b) and the slides (11a, 11b) together with slide plates (14a, 14b), so that the rear holders (7a, 7b) are located in opposed relation to the housing body (8). Then, cylinders (19a, 19b) are driven to move the rear holders (7a, 7b) toward the housing body (8), thereby provisionally retaining the rear holders (7a, 7b) on the housing body (8). Therefore, the amount of movement of the slides (11a, 11b) is small, and it is not necessary to provide any space for holding the slides (11a, 11b), moved into their respective stand-by positions, and therefore the small-size design of the production apparatus can be achieved, and also the production efficiency can be enhanced.

Abstract: An elevator hoistway for a multi-storied building which, to create a vertical travel path for an elevator installation, extends through at least one story floor and has at least one hoistway frame which bounds a hoistway penetration aperture in the story floor is to be post-constructionally created in an existing multi-storied building with little building effort and inexpensive means in that the hoistway penetration aperture can be covered by means of a load-bearing floor structure. In this way, and especially in one-family houses, the volume of the elevator hoistway can be used for non-elevator-specific purposes, e.g. as residential space, until the point in time when an elevator is subsequently installed. The hoistway frame itself serves as an interface between the building and elevator fastenings which may be provided for the transmission of forces.

Abstract: Sipping straws are confined in discrete envelopes while advancing in a single file of spaced-apart straws through a wrapping station. The envelopes are obtained from a continuous strip of wrapping paper which is conveyed to the wrapping station in the direction of advancement of the file of spaced-apart straws and is draped around the straws in such a way that one of its longitudinally extending marginal portions overlies and adheres to the other marginal portion with simultaneous formation of a seam rather than an outwardly extending fin. The thus obtained tubular wrapper is thereupon severed in the gaps between successive spaced-apart straws, and the end portions of the thus obtained discrete envelopes are sealed by knurling, e.g., simultaneously with severing of the tubular wrapper.

Abstract: Blocks of plain or filter cigarettes are accumulated in at least two group building assemblies each of which comprises at least two block forming units receiving cigarettes by gravity flow by way of upright ducts. The assemblies are adjacent the path of a series of successive receptacles which serve to transport discrete blocks stepwise to a multiple-track packing machine. The units accumulate blocks of cigarettes during intervals which include the duration of at least one stepwise movement of the receptacles and that of at least one period of standstill of the receptacles. Such intervals suffice to ensure satisfactory gathering of cigarettes into blocks of required size and shape at a frequency which is required for full-speed operation of the multiple-track packing machine.

Abstract: The present invention has an object to improve the efficiency of collection of solidification constituents and solids in exhaust gas and to prevent early blockage of the filter without damaging the vacuum pump. In an exhaust path 48a, a vacuum pump and exhaust gas filtration device are provided. This exhaust gas filtration device is constituted by a trap device, pre-filter and filter. The pre-filter reduces the exhaust gas flow rate flowing through the interior of the exhaust path by controlling the exhaust gas flow path in the vessel. The aforesaid exhaust path is constituted by connecting this vacuum pump, trap device, pre-filter and filter which are arranged in this order from the side of airtight vessel and connected through piping if required.

Abstract: An air cleaner includes a housing having first and second opposite ends. A media pack is preferably oriented within the interior volume of the housing. In preferred embodiments, the media pack will have a first and second opposite flow face and be constructed and arranged for air to flow into the media pack through the first flow face, and for air to exit the media pack through the second flow face. The air cleaner will include a seal member forming a seal between the media pack and the housing. In preferred constructions, a secondary filter element is oriented within the interior volume of the housing. In some preferred embodiments, the housing is constructed and arranged as a resonator. Certain embodiments include a seal construction that engages the secondary filter element. Methods of filtering systems, servicing filtration systems, and constructing filter arrangements and housings will use filter elements and constructions as characterized above.
