Abstract: A press forming die is fabricated by initially fabricating a die forming panel, by press forming, which provides a die surface for the press forming die. During fabricating the die forming panel, a shaped panel is obtained by initially press forming a first blank material with a die forming prototype and a punch forming prototype. Next, the shaped panel is mounted onto the punch forming prototype again and, thereafter, a die forming panel is obtained by press forming a second blank material. The die forming panel is then mounted on a frame body and a backup material is formed between a space between the frame body and the die forming panel, thereby fabricating the press forming die. Since the die surface of the press forming die can be shaped by press forming, the press forming die can be simply fabricated.

Abstract: A silencer shim structure is mounted on a friction pad of a disc brake assembly by retaining pins which extend through the shim structure and into the backing plate for preventing dislodging of the shim structure in service. The force of the rotating action of the brake disc is at a 90° angle to the retaining pin. This 90° angle provides effective resistance to any shifting or rotation of the shim structure with respect to the backing plate during actuation of a disc brake apparatus. The retaining pin has an outer surface which is disposed substantially flush with the outer surface of the shim structure. The outer surface of the retaining pin therefore does not interfere with the positioning or functioning of an actuator piston structure, caliper structure or other disc brake structure. The flush mounting allows the system of the present invention to be used for any caliper design.

Abstract: A brake cable mounting structure for a drum brake, in which even if the distance from the brake mounting surface to the center of the brake shoes in the width direction is short, the layout of the brake cable mounting section and the mechanical expander is efficient and effectively provided. Further, the anchor only need to support the braking force, thereby making the device smaller and lighter. The brake cable mounting structure of this invention is characterized in that the inner cable of the brake cable extends out from the brake; and the guide pipe on which the outer casing of the brake cable is integrally fixed with the back plate.

Abstract: A hydraulic clutch release mechanism, particularly for use in the power train of a motor vehicle, employs a circular piston which is reciprocable in a plenum chamber between a cylindrical housing and a guide centrally located within the housing. One end portion of the piston is form-lockingly connected with a plastic seal at the plenum chamber. Such form-locking connection is provided adjacent one of two lips forming part of the seal. The one lip engages the external surface of the guide and the other lip engages the internal surface of the housing and is adjacent another form-locking connection established between the seal and an annular plastic or metallic retainer which is affixed to the piston with limited axial play. The other end portion of the piston is operatively connected with a clutch, e.g., by way of a release bearing.

The device comprises a calibrated bent chute that includes a product supply system, with a regulating effect, and a selection system for product orientation. Selection is based on two different flows of the products. Correctly oriented products, whose axis is substantially perpendicular to that of the normal flow, follow the direction of this normal flow. Incorrectly oriented products, whose axis is substantially parallel to that of the normal flow, are deviated from the normal flow, by an opening.

The transverse rollers are raised and lowered by being provided, for instance, in a lift, and they are arranged so that, when the transverse rollers are in the raised position, their peripheries come into contact with the drive roller. Abstract: An electro-kinetic electro-static air conditioner includes a self-contained ion generator that provides electro-kinetically moved air with ions and safe amounts of ozone. The ion generator includes a high voltage pulse generator whose output pulses are coupled between first and second electrode arrays. Preferably the first array comprises one or more wire electrodes spaced staggeringly apart from a second array comprising hollow “U”-shaped electrodes. Preferably a ratio between effective area of an electrode in the second array compared to effective area of an electrode in the first array exceeds about 15:1 and preferably is about 20:1. An electric field produced by the high voltage pulses between the arrays produces an electrostatic flow of ionized air containing safe amounts of ozone. A bias electrode, electrically coupled to the second array electrodes, affects net polarity of ions generated. The outflow of ionized air and ozone is thus conditioned.

Abstract: In one embodiment of this invention, the apparatus for sputter deposition within an evacuated volume comprises a compact gridless ion source into which an ionizable gas is introduced and from which ions leave with directed energies at or near the sputtering threshold and a sputter target near that source, biased negative relative to the surrounding vacuum enclosure, and located within the beam of ions leaving that source. Particles sputtered from the target are deposited on a deposition substrate spaced from both the ion source and the sputter target. An energetic beam of electrons can be generated by the incident ions striking the negatively biased sputter target and the deposition substrate is located either within or outside of this beam, depending on whether the net effect of bombardment by energetic electrons is beneficial or detrimental to that particular deposition process.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a metal composite strip for the production of electrical contact components. A film made of tin or a tin alloy is first applied onto an initial material made of an electrically conductive base material. A film of silver is then deposited thereonto. Copper or a copper alloy is preferably used as the base material. The tin film can be applied in the molten state, and the silver film by electroplating. Furthermore, both the tin film and the silver film can be deposited by electroplating. A further alternative provides for manufacturing the tin film in the molten state and the silver film by cathodic sputtering. The diffusion operations which occur in the coating result in a homogeneous film of a tin-silver alloy. This formation can be assisted by way of a heat treatment of the composite strip.
