Abstract: With respect to a filter with a fastening device for a coffee-making apparatus of the type where water is brought to a boil in a closed container, whereupon the water is pressed through a riser pipe into a funnel, where boiling water extracts aromas and flavour from the ground coffee, whereupon the finished coffee beverage is filtered back into the closed container through a filter placed at the outlet of the funnel, where the filter is fastened by means of a fastening device which reaches through the riser pipe, the objective is to provide a filter where the aroma and flavour of the ground coffee is exploited as well as possible and where the filter offers a comparatively large filter surface for the finished coffee, and where the filter can easily be removed from the funnel and cleaned with a view to further coffee-making. Moreover, the filter must be easily replaceable by dismantling the handle and locking clip and fitting these on a new filter.

Abstract: This invention concerns a method for compacting waste in a machine including an cylindrical, open-top tank (2-4) and a compacting head (15, 16), wherein a horizontal toothed roller (16) is arranged in said tank (2-4) and bears on said waste under its own weight, and said roller (16) can be rotated around the central vertical axis of said tank by the action of a driving member (15). The method is characterized in that a quantity indicative of the force exerted by said driving member (15) is monitored, and in that when said quantity exceeds a predetermined threshold, an unclogging operation is performed by (a) first raising said roller (16) up to a predetermined height and (b) then releasing said roller (16) thus causing it to lower back onto the waste, while being rotatively driven in the opposite direction. In the case of a machine wherein said roller (16) is simultaneously rotatively driven around its own axis, the direction of such rotation also preferably is reversed after said roller (16) has been raised.

Abstract: A variable volume container includes a cylindrical main body having an end wall at an end thereof; an outlet projecting from an outer surface of said end wall for allowing a content to be supplied; a piston member fitted into said main body sealingly and slidably in an axial direction of said main body for defining a variable volume storage chamber between itself and said end wall; a plug member detachably mounted to said outlet; and an impact resisting reinforcement disposed at said end wall. The reinforcement may be a part of said end wall having a thickness gradually increased toward said outlet, or may be a rib shaped projection. Such a variable volume container placed upside down in packaging or transport is reinforced at the end wall of the main body where the outlet is disposed. Thus, impact is not concentrated at the root portion of the outlet but distributed, so that the outlet is prevented from being damaged, and the container is placed more stably.

A parasternal incision is made extending across a predetermined number of costal cartilages, e.g., a right parasternal incision extending from the lower edge of the second costal cartilage to the superior edge of the fifth costal cartilage. One or more costal cartilages, e.g., the third and fourth, are then excised to provide access to the portion of the heart or great vessels of interest, for example between a point approximately three centimeters above supra annular ridge and the mid ventricular cavity, and a desired procedure completed.

Abstract: This application discloses an automated apparatus for scarifying the interior surface of a pipe or other similar elongated passageway. The apparatus includes a vehicle that propels itself down the inside of the pipe. A scarifying assembly is removably secured to the vehicle and uses arms to reach the walls of the pipe. At the end of each arm there is a fluid nozzle assembly equipped with fluid nozzles. The fluid nozzle assembly rotates or oscillates to scarify the pipe surface. The arms and fluid nozzle assembly interchange with other such scarifying assemblies depending on the shape or type of pipe and the desired scarifying technique. The apparatus is tethered to a source of fluid under pressure and a power source, both of which are located off-board the apparatus at a remote location.

Abstract: A fuel hose should reduce noise during fuel injection into an engine, and should not interfere with other engine components. The fuel hose supplies fuel drawn up from a fuel tank to the fuel injection valves of the engine, and is formed from a resin material which is resistant to fuel. The fuel hose comprises a hose main body having a fuel passage, and an non-circular component formed as a result of at least part of the cross sectional shape of the hose main body being non-circular. The non-circular component has a plurality of ribs running in the axial direction along the hose main body, and absorbs pulsation by the varying of the cross sectional shape of the ribs in response to variations in the pressure on the fuel flowing through the fuel passage, thereby resisting alterations to the shape in the axial direction.
