Abstract: A divider member positioned at an intermediate location within a pocket associated with a garment for receiving at least one armor plate member, the divider member extending only partially along the height of the pocket and segregating the pocket into two separate compartments, each compartment being adaptable for receiving an minor plate member. The divider member is attachable to opposed portions forming the pocket and functions to restrict movement of the armor plate members within their respective compartments to maximize protection to the wearer during tactical maneuvering. One or both end portions of the divider member may be removably attachable to the opposed pocket portions for enabling a single armor plate member to be utilized within the space provided by the pocket, and the opposed end portions of the divider member may be attached to the opposed pocket portions in an offset manner.

Abstract: Personal load-carrying systems are described. Embodiments include a waist belt having a pocket within which a support panel sets. An upper portion of the support panel resides in a sleeve coupled to a backpack or ballistic garment. The support panel thus supports some of the weight of the backpack or ballistic garment and transfers the load to the waist belt. Embodiments include personal load-carrying systems in which a backpack and ballistic garment use the same waist belt and support panel, and are interchangeable thereupon. Variations include personal load-carrying systems in which a ballistic garment and backpack are worn simultaneously.

Abstract: A cold climate welding mask is provided for combatting interior fogging, condensation, and frost development within the welding mask interior. The device comprises a welding mask structure, a forced air means, a heating means, and a power supply for injecting a heated air stream through the mask interior to remove the user's breath therefrom and to warm the mask interior for comfort purposes. Also provided is a welding mask lens having internal heating elements therein for direct fog prevention. The device may comprises an attachable, auxiliary unit that is attachable to a traditional welding mask, or preferably the device comprises a defined welding mask structure having the elements embedded therein for cold climate and cold environmental welding use. Ideally the device is provided for use by welding operators working in extremely cold or outdoor climates where a user's breath can create internal fogging, condensation, and frost within the mask interior.

Abstract: A protective pad including a rigid shell bounded by a perimeter and a gasket engaging the perimeter so that forces applied to the shell are dissipated through the gasket before transferring to a wearer of the protective pad. The rigid shell cooperates with the gasket to provide a trampoline effect or two way spring. This effectively absorbs shock from forces generated by the opponent, so that the wearer and a colliding opponent both encounter reduced forces. The shell can bow outwardly to form a cavity above the wearer when the gasket is placed adjacent the wearer, which can prevent the rigid shell from bottoming out against the wearer upon impact. The protective pad can be implemented in a thumb protector including a stopper disposed between adjacent rigid shells covering proximal and distal portions of a digit. The stopper can engage the shells and effectively prevent hyperextension of the digit.

Abstract: An upper garment having a gusset including three blocks of a flank part, an underarm part, and a sleeve part. The flank part and the sleeve part each have both side edges defined by a gently curved line or a straight line. The underarm part of the gusset includes a front convex part -and a back convex part at both side edges of a front underarm part and a back underarm part, the front convex part -and the back convex part being gradually curved so as to become largest in width in a vicinity of an arm hole bottom. A front body piece, a back body piece, and a sleeve to which the front convex part and the back convex part of the gusset are sewn are configured in different shapes without concaves that are matched with the front convex part and the back convex part of the gusset.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a woven fabric having high transparency that a batting is made see-through, having a strength necessary for side clothes of clothing or futons, and further having a low air-permeability in order to provide an unprecedented clothing or futon whose batting is seen through. A woven fabric of the present invention is characterized in comprising a multifilament having a single yarn fineness of 0.5 to 3.0 dtex and a total fineness of 3 to 25 dtex, wherein the woven fabric has a cover factor of 1300 to 2500, a visible light transmittance of 25% to 80%, and an L* value of 37 or higher.

Abstract: A sun protection device including a frame and a drape attached to the frame, where at least a portion of the frame can be removably positioned between the crown and the sweatband of a hat. When the frame is positioned between the crown and sweatband of the hat, the drape hangs downward from the crown, thereby shading at least a portion of a wearer's neck. In one embodiment, the frame and the drape extend around at least one half (and preferably about two-thirds) of the circumference of the crown of the hat, allowing the drape to shade the wearer's neck and ears. The upper edge of the drape may be stitched or otherwise attached to the upper edge of the frame. The drape may be any suitable fabric, and is preferably capable of blocking at least a portion of the sun's UV rays.

The body position feedback system may apply higher tensile or constricting (compressive) forces to selected portions of the wearer's body, which can help stimulate or interact with nerves and deep tissue receptors located in various portions of the body. The increased forces at selected locations of the body give the wearer sensory feedback regarding the position or orientation of these parts of the body and can improve or accelerate development of “muscle memory.

Abstract: A new and novel impact energy attenuation material, impact energy attenuation module employing the material and a fit system for optimizing the performance thereof is provided. Non-linear energy attenuating material consisting of a plurality of loose particles is employed for impact energy dissipation. The loose particles are preferably spherical elastomeric balls. An impact energy attenuation module includes a container that holds the loose particles. The impact energy attenuation module can be provided in a wide range of sizes and shapes and the loose particles can be provided in different materials, sizes, density, compaction and hardness to suit with the application at hand. A matrix of impact energy attenuation module are provided about the surface of a shell to provide the required impact energy attenuation. The material, impact energy attenuation module and system of the present invention are well suited for protection of body parts and other cushioning and protection needs.

Abstract: The helmet uses a new fastener to fasten a cage to the helmet shell allowing sides of the cage to be mounted directly against the shell, reducing the width of the shell on each side. A ball is attached to a portion of a bar of the cage to act as a limit stop precluding movements of the cage with respect to the helmet. A chin bar is fastened to the helmet at two points on each side of the shell. The shell is molded with recessed portions designed to receive the two branches of the chin bar on each side where they will be fastened to the shell so that the outer surfaces of the chin guard are flush with the shell at the locations of attachment to provide a smooth transition and reduce weight. An adjustment device to adjust the fit of the helmet to the user includes a star wheel on each side of the helmet attached to an arcuate flexible strip extending rearwardly around the occipital area of the skull.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a self-adjusting retention system for a helmet including a front head belt, a rear basket and a tensioning means or device for tensioning the front head belt and the rear basket along a wearer's head. The tensioning means includes a spring and a cable attached to the front head belt. The spring tensions the front head belt via the cable. In addition, the present invention is directed to a helmet including a dome and a self-adjusting retention system attached to the dome.

Abstract: The present invention relates to leisure sports helmets which have a slide joint groove formed in front and a plurality of air vent formed around the circumference. A pair of goggles is inserted into the slide joint groove and slide into the inside of the helmet body. A slide guide is installed in the slide joint groove to support and guide the goggles. A handle is attached to the goggles in a way that is detachable and guides the goggles to slide along the slide joint groove.

The forward transverse sill is comprised of at least two generally transverse struts extending across the front of the face of a wearer during use, said transverse sill having a proximal edge and a distal edge, wherein a first surface of said sill at said distal edge and a second surface of said sill at said proximal edge are spaced linearly apart and lie approximately along a common viewing axis of a wearer during use. The face guard comprises a sill which presents a reduced profile in the field of view of a wearer while presenting an increased surface for contact with an incoming projectile such as a ball, allowing the ball to be impeded and deflected, thereby providing a blocking effect of the guard and reducing the chance of injury to a wearer.

Abstract: An active hip protector system and method for hip fracture prevention are introduced in order to overcome the short-comings of existing methods of preventing hip fractures; namely: to provide effective impact protection and eliminate false fall alarms. The hip protector system comprises a belt-like pouch, worn over the user's waist, containing airbags which are inflated to a large size ensuring that the user's thighs will not hit the ground upon impact, once the system detects a fall. The pouch contains all of the necessary elements for fall detection and activating inflation of the airbags. Incorporation of distance measurement sensors and cross reference with acceleration and spatial orientation sensors enable reliable detection of impending collision with the ground. The pneumatic system, including the airbags, is carried within the pouch or, alternatively, can be placed in a location that is prone to falling.

Abstract: The odors that still linger in a bathroom before extracting them are unbearable sometime. Therefore this invention is to help take out the odors that the exhaust fan does not. There have been devices mounted to the toilet which is in the way to clean the toilet. My invention solves that problem by placing a thru hull fitting w/2 1/16? bars in a quarter moon position to the front of the thru hull fitting to keep the paper out. Thru hull hole being 1? below the rim of toilet at 11 or 1 o'clock at back of toilet. Another thing we should not have to smell our own waste, nor our wives have to be embarrass by the lingering odors. This invention takes care of that problem.

A curvilinear actuator outside the drain pipe supports one or more driver magnets for movement in a non-linear path toward and away from the stopper magnet. When moved toward the stopper magnet, the driver magnets induce the stopper to lift away from a sealed condition so that water can exit the basin. The curvilinear actuator may include a generally cylindrical base captured in a sleeve-like hinge bracket. A control rod is coupled to a push rod that receives manual input from a user. A pair of flanking legs may be attached to the ends of the base, with each leg carrying a driver magnet half. The curvilinear actuator may include an optional draw-down magnet to hold the stopper in its sealed condition.

The invention further includes a mattress for placement upon the floor panel. A mattress retaining mechanism is coupled to the sidewall enclosure and is configured to hold the mattress in place against the floor panel, such that horizontal and vertical movement of mattress is considerably reduced or eliminated.

Abstract: A joint assembly for forming a two part radiation therapy treatment table is disclosed. The treatment table includes a patient support panel to which one portion of the joint assembly is secured, and a table extension panel to which another portion of the joint assembly is secured. The joint assembly self-aligns, self levels, is immediately stable, and locks automatically by its weight and downward pressure. The joint assembly also includes an automatic failsafe secondary lock that resists joint release if upward forces are applied. Disengaging the secondary lock requires and results in no displacement of the two panels. Upon separation of the two panels the lock resets automatically.

Each section has a substantially rectangular periphery with an opening and is pivotally coupled together by a pair of first coupling members for movement between an open configuration whereby the sections are co-planar, and a closed configuration whereby the sections are parallel with each other. An inner assembly having a body component and a leg component are positioned within the opening of the body section and the leg section, respectively. Hinge motors are connected between the frames to cause hinged articulation therebetween. One or both of the body support frames has a body slide assembly mounted thereon to enable part of a patient's body to move linearly along the particular body support frame by operation of a slide motor to compensate for hinged articulation of the frames. The hinge motors and slide motor have encoders interfaced to a controller to digitally coordinate sliding movement with hinging articulation.

Abstract: A system for preventing pressure ulcers, where the system includes one or more actuators, one or more bearings assemblies each including a multiplicity of movable bearings and optionally an enveloping strip operatively associated with the actuator. The bearings can be rotated to allow shifting locations of the bearings in respect to a part of the patient's body laid thereover for changing pressured touch points between the part of the patient's body and the bearings over time for preventing development of pressure ulcers. This is done by moving the patient's body caused by the rotation of the bearings.

Abstract: A pillow device having a pillow portion with a main head support section for supporting the head, and at least one eye mask portion for covering the eyes of the user. For additional comfort, a neck support may be removably attached to the pillow device to provide not only support for the head, but also support for the neck. Because of the overall shape of the pillow device can easily simulate a doll, a skirt with popping out figures may be added to simulate an angel or other favorite figures with open arms to welcome the user. Moreover, the pillow device may function as a computer pad holder and a bag.

Abstract: A pillow system set comprises a curved, U-shaped main pillow. The main pillow is both flexible and firm to permit it to wrap around a user while nursing an infant. A separate companion pillow is included in the pillow system set. In one embodiment the companion pillow is round or circular. The companion pillow may be used in 1 of 2 ways: 1) to place within a user's hip, when seated, under the main pillow, to prop up one side of the main pillow when wrapped around a user's waist during feeding, and 2) as a toy for an infant. Each of the two vest flap has a multiple-sided shape with a first side attached to a top edge of the rear panel, a third side attached to a side edge of the rear panel, and a second side between the first and third side forming an arm opening. The attachment locations of the two flaps to the top edge of the rear panel are spaced apart from each other for accommodating the head of the child. The two vest flaps include means for attaching them together.
