Abstract: The present invention belongs to the field of forest ecological culture and discloses a method for improving the survival rate of a directly-planted seedling and a transplanting seedling of a haloxylon plant in desert or semi-desert environment. In desert and semi-desert areas meeting a certain condition, the base part of the stem of the directly-planted seedling or the transplanting seedling of the haloxylon plant is protected by using a cylindrical pipe or hollow bullet-shaped pipe of a certain specification from damage or even death caused by stress factors such as a ground surface layer at high temperature. Through the present invention, the survival rate of a directly-planted seedling and a transplanting seedling of the haloxylon plant under extremely stress conditions in the desert and semi-desert areas can be obviously improved, and the average improvement rate is over 50%, the quick growth and development of individuals are promoted and the annual mass growth is increased.

Abstract: A new hydroponic growing system that incorporates a non-woven soft-sided fabric container housed and/or supported within a plant reservoir container is proposed. The present invention includes a main reservoir that is in communication with multiple plant reservoir containers connected each other. The predetermined intervals are set and controlled by the controller at the main reservoir to fill and drain the plant reservoir containers. With an aid of use of a soft-sided fabric container made of fine mesh-like non-woven material, the present invention minimizes the medium from travelling with nutrients when the pump is activated to drain the bucket. In addition, the present invention includes aeration devices, such as an air tube, creating a vent which minimizes water resistance when draining the bucket. Variations on the type or material for the soft-sided fabric container, and various methods for supporting and suspending the soft-sided fabric containers can be considered.

Abstract: A high-strength low profile partially compressed pintle veneer tie and anchoring system employing the same is disclosed. The high-strength pintle anchoring system employs a partially compressively reduced veneer tie that is cold-worked with the resultant body partially having substantially semicircular edges and flat surfaces therebetween. The edges are aligned to receive compressive forces transmitted from the outer wythe. The partially compressively reduced veneer tie, when part of the anchoring system, interengages with the receptor portions of a wall anchor and is dimensioned to preclude significant veneer tie movement. The insertion portion of the veneer tie is compressed and patterned to ensure a secure hold within the bed joint.

Abstract: A trolley for moving heavy objects such as wire coils from a machine to a container at a packaging table is provided. The trolley includes spring-loaded spaced arms movably mounted for vertical height adjustment so that the arms are just below the coil when it is on the machine and rotational movement to separate the spaced arms with the spaced arms retaining the heavy object during movement of the trolley apparatus, and locking arms engaging the spaced arms during movement of the trolley apparatus to prevent separation thereof. The spring-loaded arms permit the heavy object to be manually pushed downward therebetween, thereby forcing the arms apart enabling the object to fall from the trolley into a container on a packaging table. The table includes a platform for supporting the container, a motor for raising/lowering the platform, and a mechanism for retaining the container and aiding its alignment with the coil.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for collecting and storing urine comprises a collecting funnel and collection tank. The funnel has a valve that opens flow of urine begins and closes once the flow stops based on a flow sensor. The flow time of urine is recorded and used to regulate the evacuation and inert gas filling of a head space in the collection container once the urine is collected. The inert gas protects the urine from oxidation so that degradation is minimized while in the collection container. A similar control can be exercised when a bottle is filled with urine from the collection container, wherein head space in the bottle is filled with inert gas for oxidation protection to form a finished package. The head space of finished package can be evacuated to minimize degradation of the urine once the urine is accessed an initial time in the finished package.
