Abstract: A composition and method for supplementing food, nutrition, and diet systems with omega-6 to omega-3 balanced oils comprising a synergistic blend of at least two oils. The composition further comprises a synergistic blend of long chain omega-3 oil as a means to further increase the nutritional value. The composition provides an effective increase in therapeutic and pharmacological properties in nutrition and diet systems.

Abstract: Nutritional compositions are provided that comprise a fructo-oligosaccharaide (FOS) in an amount of 35 to 44% by weight; a polysaccharide that is not a partially hydrolyzed guar gum such as, for example, an arabinogalactan in an amount of 50% to 38% by weight; and inulin in an amount of 12% to 24% by weight. The FOS and the polysaccharide may be present in a weight ratio of about 1:1. More specifically, the FOS and inulin may be present in a weight ratio of about 7:3. Also provided are methods of promoting gut micro biota balance and health. The methods include administering an effective amount of the nutritional composition to patients in need of same.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for feeding and to compositions to be administered to infants delivered via caesarian section and in particular to the use of a) at least two different microorganisms; or b) at least one microorganism and at least one indigestible oligosaccharide; or c)at least two different Bifidobacteria species, subspecies or strains for the manufacture of a composition for enteral administration to an infant delivered via caesarean section. Thereby it is possible to stimulate the healthy development of the intestinal flora of said infants.

Abstract: A canola germplasm confers on a canola seed the traits of high protein content and low fiber content, wherein the canola plant produces a seed having, on average, at least 68% oleic acid (C18:1) and less than 3% linolenic acid (C18:3). The canola seed traits may also include at least 45% crude protein and not more than 18% acid detergent fiber content on an oil-free, dry matter basis. In particular embodiments, the canola seed has been dehulled and defatted resulting in a meal product with at least 58% crude protein and less than 10% acid detergent fiber on an oil-free, dry matter basis.

Abstract: A dip tank and recycling system for applying antimicrobial solution to food items, including a dip tank having a bottom and sides, and holding a liquid antimicrobial solution. A conveyor to convey food items through the tank passes through the liquid antimicrobial solution held in the tank such that food items conveyed on the conveyor are dipped in the liquid antimicrobial solution. At least two discharge nozzles spray fresh antimicrobial solution into the tank. The discharge nozzles are located in the sides of the tank, and are positioned above the level of the conveyor but below an expected top level of the liquid antimicrobial solution contained within the tank such that food items conveyed on the conveyor are agitated by the force of the spray from the discharge nozzles. The spray from the discharge nozzles causes unstacking of items on the conveyor, producing an even application of the antimicrobial solution.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the production of edible objects by selective laser sintering (SLS) using particular multi-material powder compositions. The edible compositions comprise a binder component having a melting or glass transition temperature in the range 10-200° C., and a structural component which is non-melting at the temperatures below 200° C. The composition is then subjected SLS to obtain a three-dimensional edible object. The invention can be used to produce food products using SLS, such as a bakery product, a dry mix for beverage, an instant soup or a confectionery product, among others.

Abstract: We disclose a mold for forming a food product is disclosed. The mold includes a pocket that is capable of receiving an insert. The pocket is circumscribed by a lip. The pocket includes an interference interference structure that interacts with a peripheral wall of an insert. An insert may be a block, a block assembled with a cap, or a block assembled with an electronic device. The insert includes or is adapted to include a mold cavity for receiving and forming the food product. We also disclose a method for installing a food product mold into a mold tool. An insert is inserted into a pocket arranged on a surface of a tool and a compression fit retains the insert in the pocket. After cooling the insert, the insert is installed in the pocket. As the insert warms, it expands to fill the pocket creating a compression fit.

Abstract: A shaping assembly for producing a discrete spiral shaped food product includes a die that defines at least one aperture that is centered on an aperture axis. The at least one aperture extends to an aperture exit and allows for the movement of a stream of food mass through the aperture and out the aperture exit. A shaping tool includes at least one slicing blade that is disposed over at least a portion of the aperture exit to slice the stream of food mass into a plurality of food mass portions. A coupling arrangement engages the shaping tool to facilitate rotation of the slicing blade to spin the plurality of food mass portions into a spiral shaped stream of food mass. The slicing blade simultaneously slices and spins the stream of food mass to create the spiral shaped stream of food mass. A crimper is used to cut the spiral shaped stream of food mass into the discrete spiral shaped food products.

Abstract: The invention provides a process for preparing a tobacco composition suitable for use as a smokeless tobacco composition, the process including: providing a slurry comprising water and a tobacco material, the slurry comprising at least about 75% by weight water, based on the total weight of the slurry; heating the slurry to a temperature of at least about 60° C. for a time sufficient to pasteurize the tobacco material; adding an amount of a base to the slurry sufficient to raise the pH of the slurry to at least about 8.5, thereby forming a pH-adjusted slurry; and continuing to heat the pH-adjusted slurry to a temperature of at least about 60° C. for a time sufficient for the pH of the slurry to drop at least about 0.5 pH unit following the adding step.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing an inexpensive and disposable smoking pipe is first carried out by mixing a plurality of ingredients to develop a cohesive dough mixture. Then the cohesive dough mixture is transformed into a desired shaped of the smoking pipe that includes a smoking bowl, a draw channel, and a mouthpiece. The smoking pipe is then baked and cooled to create an outer crust from a first layer of egg wash. The smoking pipe is then intermittently baked and cooled to create a seasoning crust from a second layer of egg wash and a layer of seasoning. Once the outer crust and the seasoning crust are created, the smoking pipe is cooled down to the room temperature as the final step.

In another aspect, a method includes forming a pipe comprising a stem and a bowl, and inserting a heating surface into the bowl. In a further aspect, a smoking apparatus includes a bowl insert comprising a plurality of holes and a power source lead configured to receive power from an external power source. A heating surface is coupled to the power source lead and placed on a lower portion of the bowl insert proximate to the plurality of holes.
