  • Patent number: 6418868
Abstract: The present invention comprises a method and an apparatus for rapidly orienting and advancing buttons to be sewn. The invention employs a Programmable Logic Controller to control the steps of orientation and advancement and eliminates the need for time consuming set-up and adjustment of limit switches to control the movement of components within the button oriented and advancer. The use of a Controller to actuate the steps of orientation and advancement allows for the reduction of parts and consolidation of parts onto one plate that may be easily affixed to an industrial sewing head.

  • Patent number: 6354233
Abstract: A sewing or embroidery machine, comprising a needle, a gripper and a workpiece advancing device with at least one driven advancing element. Said advancing device has a linear drive for driving the advancing element. The linear drive has two armatures which can be driven in different directions. A control device with a control circuit for the horizontal movements and a control circuit for the vertical movements of the advancing element is allocated to the advancing device and both control circuits are subordinate to a main control device comprising a data processing device. Said main control device receives synchronization impulses from an encoder according to the current position of the needle or the gripper. The actual values of the horizontal and/or vertical movements of the advancing element can be supplied to the main control device at option.

  • Patent number: 6336417
Abstract: An apparatus according to the present invention comprises a sensor and a control circuit. The sensor is disposed near a needle drop portion of a needle plate and detects the quantity of light transmitted through cloths passing over the needle plate. The control circuit determines defective sewing from increase and decrease of said light quantity. The control circuit comprises means for storing the averaged value of the light transmitted in a few stitches of initial sewing operation, and means for determining defective sewing continuously from the initial sewing operation by comparing the average value with the value of the light transmitted and detected each time. Thus, it is possible to immediately start the practical sewing operation without taking time for test sewing or other extra jobs even when every cloth to be sewn is different in properties.

  • Patent number: 6304793
Abstract: A memory 36 previously stores therein a plurality of sets of color combination data indicative of a plurality of desirable combinations of colors. Color of a cloth to be sewn is read by a scanner 28. With referring to the memory 36, an embroidery data editing device selects one combination of colors suited for the color of the cloth. The device displays the selected color combination so that a user can confirm the selected color combination. When color of some sewing region is limited to a certain color as stored in the memory 37, hemming embroidery data is added to the embroidery data at an outer rim of the embroidery pattern if needed.
