  • Patent number: 8507798
Abstract: A sealing grommet, particularly for data centers and the like, formed of one or a pair of U-shaped frame sections, each co-molded with a thermoplastic elastomeric seal of corrugated wave form, with corrugated edges of the seals exposed at the open sides of the U-shaped frames. A pair of such grommet sections joined together, with the corrugated edges arranged to be in contact and in phase, provides a uniquely efficient seal to hold back air under pressure while allowing various pass-through elements, such as cables, hoses, etc., to be extended through the grommet and while enabling the pass-through elements to be easily added, removed, or rearranged as may be necessary to accommodate the dynamic changes experienced in the operation of a data center.

Abstract: The grommet disclosed includes a first diameter tubular section that allows a wire harness to pass through, and a second diameter tubular section that is provided on the first diameter tubular section. The first diameter tubular section is provided with an outer tubular section that extends in the axial direction. A projecting end of the outer tubular section is connected to the second diameter tubular section. A vehicle body latch portion is provided on an outer periphery or a resin inner of the second diameter tubular section. A grommet-pushing side of the first diameter tubular section is not secured to a wire harness. A grommet-inserting side of the first diameter tubular section is secured to the wire harness. The turning portion is deformed when the grommet is inserted into a through-hole in a vehicle body panel so that the first diameter tubular section is elongated.

  • Patent number: 8350163
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly having improved conductivity and continuity. A snap in or push in electrical connector having a zinc body and spring steel components plated with high conductivity metal, such as tin, providing a reduced voltage drop across the attached electrical connector. In an embodiment, a connector assembly has a connector body having opposed end openings provided with an outer surface that slopes downwardly toward the outlet opening. The inlet opening having placed therein cable retainer inserts. A sloping or frustro-conical, snap fit, snap in, or push in outer retaining ring with locking tangs is provided for snap locking the outlet end portion of the connector body to an electrical box or panel. Improved conductivity or continuity is obtained and a good electrical ground is formed between the electrical box and connector assembly.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for supplying current to a reactor, wherein electrode(s) of an electrical energy network (EEN), which is DC-isolated from ground potential, is/are fed through a reactor wall and connected to an electrically conductive element (ECE) so that an operating voltage is applied to the ECE and electrical current flows through it. A seal of electrically insulating material is provided between the wall and the electrode. The EEN is monitored for insulation faults. A fall below a particular insulation resistance triggers shutdown of the electrical energy supply. The switching threshold is determined by taking into account at least one of the following parameters: seal geometry, seal material, supply voltage and maximum possible electrical energy input into the seal immediately before shutdown, triggered by the maximum theoretically possible leakage current through the seal. A device and an electrode having respective seals are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8324516
Abstract: A rapid mount cable entry device for routing low voltage cables through walls including an assembly of a low voltage frame, a flexible slotted insert, and a retainer ring that holds the assembly securely together. The low voltage frame includes a plate with an opening therein defining an inner periphery at the opening and mounting fasteners with attached clamp arms for securing the frame to a wall. The slotted insert includes a flexible panel with a hole therein and a plurality of open slots extending radially from the hole. The slots enable the cable entry device to accommodate passage of low voltage cables there through. The slots define flaps that close around the cables after they are inserted therein, thus closing the area around the periphery of the inserted cables. The cable entry device can be quickly secured to a wall as wall preparation time is minimal.

Abstract: A cable entry device for routing low voltage cables through walls. The cable entry device includes a rigid cable frame with a frame body having two ends, an opening therein, and a flexible insert within the opening. The flexible insert includes a membrane extending across the opening of the frame body. An arm extends from each end of the frame body. The arms include oval apertures therein which cooperate with fasteners for mounting the frame body directly to a conventional electrical box or conventional low voltage frame. The membrane includes a hole therein and a plurality of open slots extending radially from the hole. The slots enable the cable entry device to accommodate passage of low voltage cables there through for the purpose of providing a portal for routing the cables through a wall.

Abstract: The invention relates to a system (11) for transmitting electric power through a wall (10), including a housing (40) intended for being rigidly connected to the wall, and two penetrator sub-units (12, 22) on either side of the housing, each including a conductive element (14, 24) and an insulating element (13, 23) rigidly connected to one another. The system is arranged such as to maintain electrical contact between the conductive elements of the penetrator sub-units while enabling the conducting elements to move axially relative to one another. The insulating elements of the two penetrator sub-units engage with the housing such that the compression forces to which each penetrator sub-unit is exposed are at least partially transmitted to the housing.
