Abstract: Disclosed herein is a cable coupler for the connection of an armored cable having an armor layer. The cable coupler of the present invention includes a sleeve, which has an inclined surface, which is brought into contact with the armor layer of the armored cable, and a fastening ring and a support ring, each of which has a small width. Each of the fastening ring and the support ring includes inclined surfaces, which are formed by reducing the thickness thereof from a medial portion thereof to opposite ends. The inner inclined surfaces of the fastening ring and the support ring have inclination angles similar to that of the inclined surface of the sleeve. In addition, the armor layer can be firmly held by the cable coupler despite the use of a relatively small force, thus enhancing labor efficiency. As well, armor layers having various thicknesses can be held by the cable coupler merely by changing the positions of the fastening ring and the support ring, thus increasing the usefulness of the cable coupler.

Abstract: One embodiment provides an air baffle assembly for controlling airflow through a cable opening in a rack. The rack is configured for removably supporting a plurality of modular electronic components. The cable opening on the rack receives a plurality of cables connected to the modular electronic components. The air baffle assembly includes a track secured to the rack adjacent to the cable opening and an air baffle movably supported on the track over the cable opening. The track includes a rail guideway. The air baffle includes at least a flexible first rail movably received by the first rail guideway. The first rail flares laterally along a range of engagement of the first rail with the first rail guideway, to bias the air baffle in one longitudinal direction.

Abstract: The present invention relates to formation of a feedthrough associated with an implantable medical device. A conductive element is formed of at least one refractory metal. A portion of the conductive element is cladded with a noble metal. A portion of the noble metal clad is removed through an electrochemical process or through a grinding operation. Alternatively, noble metal is introduced to preselected areas of the conductive element, which avoids removal of a portion of the noble metal from the conductive element.

Abstract: A floor grommet for use in building and office structures supplied with air conditioning via under floor plenum. Directed flow of conditioned air is optimized by limiting the escape of air from the plenum into the space above the floor by leakage through floor openings provided for power cables, data cables and the like. Specialized floor grommets installed in the cable openings are comprised of a surrounding frame mounting sealing elements comprised of thin, flexible elements which are anchored at one end in the grommet frame and extend toward the center of the opening, from each side, to effectively close the opening against significant flow of conditioned air from the plenum below. Cables passing through the grommet opening cause minimal deflection of the flexible elements to limit the escape of conditioned air. Preferably, the resilient, flexible elements are filamentary in nature.
