  • Patent number: 6968983
Abstract: A closed loop dispensing system for use on a liquid container such as a bottle or the like for dispensing the liquid contents from the bottle. The outlet opening of the bottle is closed by a throat plug having a valve positioned therein which is open when the container cap is mounted on the container, but which automatically closes when the cap is removed from the container. An inlet opening is provided in the container insert so that liquid may be drawn therethrough. A closure cap is mounted on the bottle and has a dispensing tube extending therefrom for dispensing liquid from the container to a mixing machine or the like. A check valve is associated with the cap for preventing backflow from the dispensing tube to the container and for permitting liquid flow from the container to the dispensing tube in response to suction being applied to the dispensing tube.

Abstract: A sanitizable piston pump for dispensing ingredients of cosmetic preparations and other sanitary mixtures is shown and described. The pump includes a valve block including an inlet port threadably connected to a nipple which is detachably connected to an outlet port of a flexible package. The valve block further includes a piston port threadably connected to cylinder and an outlet port that sealably receives a valve stem. The inlet port, the outlet port and the piston port are in fluid communication with one another upon removal of the valve stem from the valve block. The valve stem includes an intake passage and an output passage. The cylinder slidably receives a piston. Both the piston and valve stem are connected to separate actuators. The actuator connected to the valve stem moves the valve stem into one of either an intake position for withdrawing fluid into the cylinder or a dispense position for pumping fluid out of the cylinder and out the outlet of the valve stem.

The contents are released when the cap of the displacement port is rotated into an open position and the integral release stem lifts the sealing means that is adjoined to the stem on the opposite end at the dispensing port. The lifting of the stem causes the sealing means at the dispensing port to disengage from the dispensing port allowing the contents of the container to be expelled.

Abstract: A spigot device for a liquid container includes a single-piece molded conduit confining a primary passage and a channel which are surrounded by an outer surrounding wall and which are not communicated with each other within the conduit. An intake end of each of the primary passage and the channel is in fluid communication with a bottom outlet of the container. An exit end of the primary passage is in fluid communication with a fluid passage in which a valve body is disposed to control flow of liquid from the container into a spout. An upright branch tube is in fluid communication with the channel to permit the liquid in the container to flow into the branch tube so that the level of the liquid in the container can be monitored by observing the level of the liquid in the branch tube.

  • Patent number: 6662978
Abstract: A liquid storage vessel stopper, having interchangeable plugs is taught, that utilizes a stopper body (20) with an inner shell (22) affixed to an outer shell (24). The inner shell is configured to communicate with a liquid storage vessel interior, and the outer shell is profiled to be threadably attached to the vessels outside surface. An interchangeable stopper plug is either a twist to pour plug or a push to pour plug type. The former has a main core (32) smaller than the inner shell, and incorporates a lid (36) creating a dead air space within forming an insulating barrier. When the main core is manually rotated at least a quarter of a turn, the plug is unseated and a flow path is opened between the core and the inner shell permitting liquid contents to be poured from the vessel.

Abstract: A dispenser for powdered, granular or related fluent materials. The dispenser includes a reservoir and an actuation mechanism that together define a housing, or enclosure. The reservoir sealingly contains a fluent material such that the contents are not easily contaminated or tampered with. User-imparted relative movement between cooperating parts of the actuation mechanism and reservoir enables a predetermined and repeatable quantity of the fluent contents to be discharged from the dispenser and onto a desired area, such as a food product. The dispenser is configured as a disposable device such that, after depletion of the fluent material contents arising out of a multiplicity of uses, it can be thrown away.

Abstract: A faucet includes a body having an inlet, an inlet passageway connected to the inlet and outlet passageway that intersects the inlet passageway. The outlet passageway terminates at an outlet. A push-button actuator has a biasing portion that is located in the outlet passageway and a button portion that projects outwardly through an opening defined in the body. The button portion is normally biased into a first, extended position by the biasing portion and is selectively manually moveable to a second, operative position. A seal member is provided and is adapted to engage and seal the inlet to the inlet passageway. A stem projects from the seal member and is operably coupled to the button portion of the push-button actuator. The seal member is normally biased into sealing engagement with the inlet the by the biasing portion of the push-button actuator.

Abstract: The present invention provides a cap having a plurality of readily assembled parts that provide a passage for a beverage or liquid through the cap from the pitcher to the exterior thereof. The cap has a cap body made up of top and bottom portions that are formed so as to snap fit together. The cap body defines an interior cavity or passage from an entry defined by the bottom portion to an exit cooperatively defined by the top and bottom portions. The entry is selectively opened and closed to allow fluid or liquid passage through the cap by a valve that is biased into a closed position. In a preferred embodiment the valve is attached to a plunger having a cylindrical configuration and including a plurality of upwardly and outwardly extending shape memory retentive legs that are confined within a receiving collar attached to the bottom portion.

Abstract: A dispensing device including a container (10) with a top aperture (14) adapted for the entry of free-flowing materials and a bottom opening (32) adapted for the directed dispensing of free-flowing materials, a handle (12), a thumb release trigger (16) associated with a stopper (30) located in the opening. Downward pressure on the thumb release trigger moves the stopper downward allowing the free-flowing material to be dispensed out of the opening. The opening and stopper are adapted to direct the dispensing of the free-flowing material, thereby reducing the spilling inherent in many of the devices found in the prior art. Dispensing the free-flowing materials may be facilitated by a reverse taper on the container sidewall (10B) such that the bottom opening for dispensing of free-flowing materials is larger than the aperture for entry of the free-flowing materials.

  • Patent number: 6530273
Abstract: A metering device and method for delivering fluid that employs a compensating element. The metering device has a housing defining a fluid chamber that contains a pressurized fluid. The-housing further encloses an actuating drive, a valve needle and a compensating element. The housing terminates at a housing opening for delivery of fluid to the outside of the housing. Fluid is delivered from the housing by moving the actuating drive which in turn displaces the valve needle in an opening direction. Upon displacement of the valve needle, the valve needle moves axially in the opening direction with little, if any, lift loss due to the compensating element. The compensating element further acts to compensate for shifting or movement of metering components due to external factors, such as varying thermal loads, aging effects, and settling effects.
