Abstract: Described is an atomizing nozzle having a relatively small frontal area permitting insertion of a nozzle into small diameter medical conduit(s). A body of a preferred nozzle has a characteristic size (e.g., cross-section diameter) of less than about 0.2 inch (0.5 cm). The nozzle body is typically carried on an extension member, which can be transversely flexible to permit passage of a nozzle body through a tube and along a nonlinear path. The nozzle body is typically connected to an extension member by way of a lap joint associated with the nozzle body. Preferred embodiments have a De/O ratio of less than 12.0, a Db/O ratio of less than about 18, and a Db/De ratio of less than about 1.1. Certain embodiments include a swirling chamber disposed upstream of the ejection orifice and having a proximal wall with a portion configured to at least approximate a portion of a dome, or other curved surface.

Abstract: A shower head for a hand-held shower attachment, an overhead shower attachment or a side shower attachment contains, in its shower-head housing, a vortex chamber which is of funnel shape with the side wall curved. The funnel begins, at the location of the largest diameter, in a radial plane and then decreases in diameter along a curved contour to an exit, where the walls of the funnel run in the axial direction. At the location of the largest diameter of the vortex chamber, upstream of this tapering region, the water is let in tangentially in the circumferential direction and in the axial direction. The vortex which is generated by virtue of the water being let in tangentially accelerates its speed of rotation in the direction of the spray disc. Arranged at the end of the tapering region is a jet-outlet chamber which is very flat, but is of large diameter in relation to the vortex chamber.

Abstract: A fuel injection valve has a valve body, a valve seat member having a valve seat and an opening portion formed at a downstream side of the valve seat member, a swirl chamber providing swirl to fuel, an orifice nozzle formed at a bottom of the swirl chamber and jetting the fuel, a communication conduit connecting the swirl chamber and the opening portion of the valve seat member, and a fuel inflow prevention wall provided at a connecting area between the communication conduit and the swirl chamber. The fuel inflow prevention wall is formed so as to prevent an incoming fuel from the communication conduit from directly flowing into the orifice nozzle and to suppresse a collision between a flow of the fuel that swirls and comes to the connecting area and a fuel flow coming from the communication conduit.

Abstract: Provided is a manual air-actuated spray paint apparatus and associated method for evenly disbursing paint in a controlled manner. Such an apparatus preferably includes a portable reservoir for holding the paint therein and a hand-actuated paint applicator removably coupled thereto. A mechanism for simultaneously discharging a single stream of paint and a volume of air may also be included. A discharge spout is removably mated to and in fluid communication with the paint applicator for mixing the single paint stream and the volume of air as they pass through the spout. A trigger is pivotally mated to the housing and is articulated between tensioned and released positions to activate the paint discharging mechanism. When the trigger is engaged, the paint is directed upwardly out of the reservoir and travels out the discharge spout to be applied to the surface intended to receive the paint.

Abstract: An apparatus for producing swirling flow in a pipeline is provided. The apparatus comprises in flow series: an inlet pipe, a flow deflection section, and an outlet pipe. The inlet pipe is configured such that fluid arrives in the flow deflection section from the inlet pipe and the outlet pipe has one or more apertures formed in a radially outward side wall thereof for the entrance of fluid to the outlet pipe from the flow deflection section. The apertures are configured such that the entering fluid adopts a swirling flow in the outlet pipe. The flow deflection section is configured such that, in the flow deflection section, fluid arriving from the inlet pipe is deflected to a location radially adjacent the apertures while maintaining a substantial component of flow in said principal direction.

  • Patent number: 7946512
Abstract: A shower head for a hand-held shower attachment contains, in the center of its jet disc, an insert with three individual nozzle bodies. Each individual nozzle body is designed for discharging an individual jet. To this end, it has a continuous jet opening. Each of these in individual nozzle bodies is mounted in a manner that enables it to move relative to the shower head and to the jet disc, and is placed in rotation by a water-driven rotor. Said continuous jet opening extends at an angle to the rotation axis of the individual nozzle body. When the individual nozzle body rotates, the jet exiting there from moves on an envelope of a cone. Each individual nozzle body, contains an aerating device that aspirates the air immediately next to the outlet opening and, inside the individual nozzle body, mixes the air with the water entering this individual nozzle body. As a result, the individual nozzle body discharges an aerated jet.

  • Publication number: 20110031328
Abstract: The present invention provides a nozzle apparatus for dispersing droplets of flowable material. The apparatus has a body with a vortex chamber, an inlet for feeding the flowable material thereto, and a passageway for supplying pressurized gas to the vortex chamber such that the flow of the pressurized gas is tangential to the flow of the flowable material. An outlet for dispersing droplets of flowable material out of the apparatus is in communication with the vortex chamber. The inlet and the outlet have cross-sectional areas which are equal to within ±15%. The passageway directs the pressurized gas to move in a vortex within the vortex chamber and envelope the flowable material. The cross-sectional area of the flowable material is thereby reduced and caused to accelerate through the outlet. Upon exiting the outlet, the flowable material spirals outwards and breaks into droplets of material thereby.
