  • Patent number: 4542684
Abstract: The specification discloses a system for frying food items including a fry basket and an insert which functions to maintain the food items in the fry basket in a separated condition. The insert is dimensioned to fit at least partially within the fry basket and is removably disposed therein. The insert includes two longitudinal support members, a plurality of elongate transverse support members extending between the longitudinal support members and a plurality of separators extending from the transverse support members. The insert may be used in at least two positions, a downwardly facing position or an upwardly facing position and it may be used with or without clips to secure it to the basket.

  • Patent number: 4536924
Abstract: A one piece clamping device which includes a proximal flexible hinge portion, distal portions having non-penetrating substantially flat gripping surfaces, and male and female medial portions. The male medial portion has a male locking member, one surface of which is toothed and the other surface of which is non-toothed. The female medial portion has a female locking cavity and a locking ledge extending therein. The toothed surface of the male locking member thereby meshes with the locking ledges of the female cavity. The male medial portion also includes a male guide, and the female medial portion also include a female guide channel for receiving the guide and a spur to guide the non-toothed surface of the male locking member into position in the female cavity and to retain it.

  • Patent number: 4525899
Abstract: A fastener for paper and the like is integrally molded of a plastic material and comprises hingedly interconnected first and second plate members, each having a mating surface thereon, and a wedge-shaped prong which extends from the mating surface of the first plate member. The prong is receivable in frictional interengagement in a slot in the second plate member to detachably maintain the plate members in the closed positions thereof, wherein the abutting surfaces thereof are in mating relation. One or a plurality of sheets of paper or the like interposed between the plate members are penetrated by the prong when the plate members are in the closed positions thereof to secure the sheets in the fastener.

  • Patent number: 4497091
Abstract: This invention is a spring steel wire clip used to clamp and grasp objects of various size and shape. Spring steel wire is bent to form a top area from which extend two legs, each in three segments; an upper part, a crossmember and a foot. Each upper part in conjunction with the top extend downward to form a plane on a different plane than a plane formed by the top and other upper part crossmembers extend inward from the upper parts and are substantially on the same plane yet do not cross over one another. Extending downward and outward from the crossmembers are feet which are parallel to the plane of the top and upper parts from which they extend and perform the gripping function of the invention. The top is used as a grip to apply the clip in a twisting motion in relation to the object to be clamped such that the upper parts and crossmembers are reversed while the orientation of the feet remain constant resulting in a clamping action.

  • Patent number: 4486010
Abstract: The jig of this invention holds a radial array of separate materials together so that they can be glued, welded, or otherwise secured together. The jig is then removed. A plurality of fingers are pivoted to a common support, and elastic means are used to urge the fingers together to tightly grip the radial array of materials to be held. The finger surfaces are angular to correspond to the angle of the materials to be held and for a cross shaped array of materials, the finger surfaces are at 90.degree. to each other. The fingers have shanks that project beyond the hinge or pivot point and these projecting shanks may be used to open up the fingers by manually grasping the projecting shanks and thereby overcoming the elastic means which normally urges the fingers together.
