A cover main body 31 is molded by injecting a synthetic resin into the main body cavity 65a. A slide core 63 is moved backward by a predetermined distance in the guide hole 61d so that the thickness of a lip part in a lip protrusion becomes smaller than that of the lip part in a second seal portion. Abstract: A method of manufacturing a composite closure, including an outer closure cap and an inner sealing liner, comprises providing a closure cap having an annular skirt portion including an annular lip that defines an annular recess adjacent a top wall portion of the cap. Molten plastic is compression molded within the closure cap to form the inner sealing liner adjacent the top wall portion, with the periphery of the sealing liner positioned within the annular recess of the closure cap. A plurality of circumferentially spaced gussets are provided within the annular recess for controlling the flow of the molten plastic during liner formation, thereby facilitating the venting of air to abate formation of voids in the sealing liner.

  • Publication number: 20130026678
Abstract: Systems and processes that limit distortion of inserts (e.g., previously formed parts) in insert molding and overmolding processes. Initially, a mold may be closed (e.g., clamped) about an insert with the mold at a first temperature. After closing the mold about the insert, the mold is heated up to a second temperature (e.g., a temperature suitable for injection of the molding material) and filled with the molding material to contact (e.g., encapsulate) the insert. After the mold has been cooled, the mold may be opened and the finished part (including the insert and the solidified molding material) removed (e.g., ejected). The process may be repeated for additional finished parts. Closing the mold about the insert before heating the mold to the injection temperature advantageously limits distortion of the insert that would otherwise occur by placing the insert into the mold with the mold already at the injection temperature.

Abstract: A versatile silicone resin reflective substrate which exhibits high reflectance of high luminance light from an LED light source over a wide wavelength from short wavelengths of approximately 340-500 nm, which include wavelengths from 380-400 nm near lower limit of the visible region, to longer wavelength in the infra-red region. The silicone resin reflective substrate has a reflective layer which contains a white inorganic filler powder dispersed in a three-dimensional cross linked silicone resin, the inorganic filler powder having a high reflective index than the silicone resin. The reflective layer is formed on a support body as a film, a solid, or a sheet. The silicone resin reflective substrate can be easily formed as a wiring substrate, a packaging case or the like, and can be manufactured at low cost and a high rate of production.

  • Patent number: 8342228
Abstract: The present invention includes systems and methods for insert-molding. In some embodiments, a hook can be formed in a metal part by passing die-steel of a die-cast mold through the metal part during a die-casting process. This may, however, result in a hole in the metal part that is beneath the hook area. When plastic material is insert-molded over the metal part, the plastic material may flow through the hole and into the metal part. Accordingly, in some embodiments the plastic material can be prevented from flowing through the hole during the insert-molding. As one example, a tape material can be coupled over the hole. As another example, a wedge can be press-fit into the hole. As yet another example, a plug can be inserted into the hole.
