  • Patent number: 11940050
Abstract: A seal for an axle shaft assembly which may be found in an automotive transmission or drive axle, is provided. The seal may accommodate significant axle deflection, while retaining a fluid-tight seal between multiple sealing surfaces. The seal may include dynamic flanges configured to seal against surfaces which are angled or orthogonal with respect to one another. The seal may also include one or more holes extending from an outer surface to an inner surface of the seal, such that a body of the seal forms a conduit which allows fluid, such as lubricating fluid, to flow through the seal.

  • Patent number: 11761301
Abstract: A technique facilitates improved sealing with respect to safety valve pistons so as to improve reliable safety valve operation. According to an embodiment, a safety valve piston seal assembly is positioned about a safety valve piston and comprises components which divert a load path to the safety valve piston rather than to susceptible components of the seal assembly. For example, the seal assembly may comprise a load ring and spacers to energize a V-ring when pressure is applied to a metal spring energized (MSE) seal. However, the components are arranged so the load path is diverted to the safety valve piston when pressure occurs behind the V-ring instead of allowing the loading to act against the MSE seal.

Abstract: A multi-layered lip seal comprising a dynamic layer optionally having a filler incorporated therein and a static layer optionally having a filler incorporated therein is described. The lip seal has an annular ring shape, wherein an inner diameter of the ring shape is curved in an axial direction so as to give the lip seal a J-shape when viewed from a cross-sectional perspective. Fillers that can be included in static layer include stiffening filler, reinforcement fillers, conductive fillers and/or abrasion resistance fillers. Fillers that can be included in the dynamic layer include wear resistance fillers. The use of specific fillers in specific layers of the multi-layered lip seal allows for certain segments of the lip seal to be imparted with the benefits of the filler without negatively impacting other segments of the lip seal.

  • Patent number: 8342536
Abstract: A sealing device that hermetically seals a gap between a first member and a second member that is reciprocally movable with respect to the first member. The sealing device seals liquid supplied into a pressurizing chamber surrounded by the first member and the second member. The sealing device includes a seal member that is attached to the second member. The seal member slides relative to the first member while being in contact with the first member. The seal member includes a base portion and a protruding portion. The protruding portion protrudes from the base portion toward the first member to separate the first member from the base portion. After the liquid is supplied into the pressurizing chamber to fill the pressurizing chamber with the liquid, the protruding portion elastically deforms to bring the base portion into close contact with the first member.

  • Patent number: 8312805
Abstract: A high pressure piston for use within a liner sleeve of a reciprocating pump comprises a dual-durometer elastomeric seal having first and second coaxial seal sections and, in certain embodiments, a circumferential bearing ring. Interactions of the seal components, including seal elastomers, result in stress redistribution within the seal which maintains sealing preload, with corresponding improved extrusion resistance and seal durability. When a bearing ring is present, a pump's pressure stroke causes at least a portion of the bearing ring to elastically expand radially to narrow or close the extrusion gap, thus tending to block elastomer extrusion by establishing sliding contact between the bearing ring's external surface and the liner. On the pump's return stroke the slightly wider extrusion gap allows cooling water directed generally toward the proximal flange of the piston hub to better cleanse, as well as cool, the liner wall.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a sealing member for a master cylinder and a master cylinder having the same. The master cylinder is configured such that a communication hole of a piston is rapidly brought into communication with an oil path toward an oil tank upon release of braking. This may minimize meaningless retracting movement of the piston and delay in a braking release operation. The sealing member for the master cylinder includes an outer wing part to come into contact with the cylinder body, and an inner wing part to come into contact with the outer surface of the piston. The inner wing part includes a seal formed at a tip end thereof and at least one oil passage formed in a surface thereof opposite the outer surface of the piston.
