  • Publication number: 20080023969
Abstract: Disclosed is a temporary door lock assembly. The assembly is formed from five major components: a rosette; a bolt; a barrel; a locking arm; and an inside plate. These components are lockingly interconnected without any fasteners or the use of any tools to form a door lock. The lock can be temporarily secured within the lock opening and barrel of a door frame during residential or commercial construction to thereby delay the need to install more complicated and expensive permanent locks.

  • Patent number: 7272904
Abstract: A throw-lever releasable mounting system for mounting a device in quick-release relation to a support member has a mounting base having a configuration fitting opposed angulated rail surfaces and having a locator key engaging a positioning slot of the rail. Each mounting base provides for mounting and stabilization of optics mounting rings. A locking platform projects from the mounting base and defines a locking opening having a circular hard metal insert therein that defines a receptacle receiving a resilient member and providing for location of the spline/spindle shaft of a rotatable locking plate. A locking plate of a throw-lever that is rotatable between locking and unlocking positions has angulated and curved cam surfaces for forcibly engaging correspondingly angulated surfaces of the rail to achieve cam energized precision locating and locking engagement with the rail.

  • Patent number: 7114753
Abstract: A door-latching system for a sectional door with multiple door panels helps hold the door at its fully open position in case the door's counterweight torsion spring fails to do so. The door-latching system includes a latch assembly that moves between a maintained release position and a door-blocking position. In the door-blocking position, the latch assembly helps hold the door open by providing an obstruction to the door panels. In the maintained release position, the latch assembly allows the door to move freely between open and closed positions without the door-latching system clacking as the door panels or their guide rollers travel past the latch assembly. Movement of the door panels automatically shifts the latch assembly from its release position to its door-blocking position, and manual actuation returns the latch assembly back to its release position. The latch assembly is especially suited for mounting to a track that guides the movement of the door panels.

  • Patent number: 7021678
Abstract: A four position gate latch (20) that is used to fasten and lock a gate. The gate latch includes a self fastening gravity gate latch (22) that is fastened to one face of the gate. A gate latch bracket (28) is fastened to the gate on an opposed face, mating with said gate latch. A latch striker bar slideably extends from the bracket such that the striker bar interfaces with the gate latch and links the gate portions together. A locking bolt (60) slideably extends though the bracket, allowing it to interface with the gate latch and provide positive locking capabilities. The gate latch is capable of being placed in a self fastening gravity gate latch conventional position, a locked position with the locking bolt penetrating a padlock hole, an unlatched position that permits the gate to swing inward on the gate latch side without interference, and a free-swinging position that permits the gate to pivot in both directions.

The user then releases the door or other structure attached to the pin and the pin travels to detent engagement with the island. During the unlatching cycle, the user again pushes the door or other structure attached to the pin and the pin travels from detent engagement with the island to third camming walls which guide the pin to the outlet channel. The pin traverses the outlet channel and exits the mouth of the latching body.

  • Patent number: 5954413
Abstract: Storage container for small articles. A storage container for small articles provides a stationary upright cabinet open at the front, one or more bins received in the cabinet and tiltable between an upright closed position and a forwardly tilting open position, and a latch secured to a front wall of the bin for locking the bin in the closed upright position. The cabinet includes a vertical back wall and vertical side walls which have lower edges that are adapted to rest on a horizontal supporting surface, and a bottom wall between these lower edges and directly above the supporting surface. Each bin includes a front wall and a bottom wall joined by a curved transitional surface, which has the curvature of a right circular cylinder. This curved transitional surface rolls along the upper surface of the bottom wall of the cabinet as a bin is moved from an open position to a closed position or vice versa. This rolling motion takes the place of a structure having a fixed pivot axis for supporting a bin.

Abstract: An improved astragal assembly for use with a double door installation includes an astragal strip secured along the vertical edge of the inactive door. A lock block is slidably disposed in at least one end of said astragal strip and can be moved between an extended position for securing the door and a retracted position for freeing the door. The lock block has a projecting bolt receivable in a receptacle in the door frame when the lock block is slid to its extended position. A gasket is secured to the end of the lock block and the bolt passes through an opening in the gasket. The gasket engages and seals against the door frame when the lock block is in its extended position. Gaskets are also provided on the sides of the lock block for engaging and sealing against the doors of the double door installation. When the doors are closed and secured in place, the lock block and gasket assembly prevents drafts from flowing under the door installation beneath the astragal thereof.

  • Patent number: 5782507
Abstract: A gate and door latch having alternate means of opening and closing either by a horizontal sliding action of a striker or pivoting of the striker. The striker is manipulated into an open or closed position by means of latching or unlatching the striker member from a pronged keeper. A striker slot allows the striker member to be slid horizontally from side to side in an open or closed position or to pivot about a striker pivot bolt in an open or closed position. A rear lever handle is secured to the back side of the gate or door allowing for opening or closing the latch from the rear by rotating the rear lever handle. Rotation of the rear lever handle actuates a lever located on the front side of the gate and door latch causing the lifting and pivoting of the striker into an open position.
