Swinging Catch Patents (Class 292/210)
  • Patent number: 7883124
Abstract: A gate latch includes a bracket that has flanges with a plurality of holes for receiving fasteners that enable the bracket to be mounted to a bracket mounting surface. The bracket has a raised portion joined with the flanges and cooperates with the bracket mounting surface to define a space therebetween. The latch also includes a latch arm having an end portion thereof pivotally joined with the raised portion and capable of limited pivotal movement relative to the bracket. The latch arm is received in the space between the raised portion and the mounting surface when the bracket is secured to the mounting surface. The latch further includes a catch to be mounted to a catch mounting surface adjacent to the bracket and the latch arm. The catch includes a latch arm receiving region and a movable lock.

  • Patent number: 7832148
Abstract: A gate (106) includes a panel (112) movable relative to a fixed member (110) between an open position and a closed position. A linkage (140) is pivotally mounted to the panel (112) about a latch pivot axis. A catch (130) is pivotally mounted to the linkage (140) about a catch pivot axis spaced from and parallel to the latch pivot axis. The catch (130) is movable between a latched position engaged with the fixed member (110) and an unlatched position disengaged from the fixed member (110). The catch (130) defines a groove for slideable receipt on the fixed member (110). When the catch (130) is in the latched position and the panel (112) is in the closed position, the catch (130) abuts against opposite sides of the fixed member (110) along an extended length such that forces are applied on each side at spaced locations to resist twisting forces.

Abstract: A lockable sash assembly for installation on a window assembly is provided. The window assembly includes sashes movable relative to each other to open and close the window assembly when the lockable sash assembly is in a window-openable condition and substantially unmovable relative to each other when the lockable sash assembly is in a window-unopenable condition. The sash assembly includes a sashlock having a rotating device (such as a lever-controlled cam) which is movable between a window-openable position and a window-unopenable position. The sash assembly also includes a locking device which is convertible between a locked state whereat the rotating device is blocked from moving from the window-unopenable position to the window-openable position and an unlocked state whereat the rotating device is unblocked from moving from the window-unopenable position to the window-openable position.

  • Patent number: 6099197
Abstract: A locking spring-biased latch for removably attaching a first component, such as a seat, to an elongate member, such as the tubular frame of a wheelchair. The locking spring-biased latch comprises a body portion having a top and a pair of leg members that are adapted to removably receive an elongate member, a catch arm pivotally attached to the top of the body portion, and a release lever pivotally attached to the top of the body portion. The release lever has a bore passing transversely therethrough. A locking button is reciprocatable within the bore and is secured to a pin in the base. The locking button is biased upwardly through the top of the release lever by a spring. The spring, when extended, blocks pivotal movement of the release lever. Depression of the locking button into the bore depresses the spring to clear the spring from the release lever for pivotal movement of the release lever.

Abstract: A mobile support unit such as an IV stand or the like coupled to a mobile hospital bed, gurney or wheelchair by a latch mechanism which provides hands free operation thereby avoiding the need for a nurse or care provider to manually manipulate the latch to secure the units together for tandem transport. Further, the latch mechanism according to this invention includes a clutch which prevents relative movement of the IV stand or support unit with respect to the hospital bed during transport up to a specific adjustable torque level thereby avoiding the problem of the IV stand or support unit swinging freely relative to the bed during movement. Further, the clutch permits movement of the IV stand or support unit through an arc relative to the bed when a specified force is applied as required by the nurse or care provider to reposition the IV stand or support unit relative to the bed and provide increased access to the patient or the like.

Abstract: A door interlock includes a pivot arm having a door lock position, a door unlock position, and a latch recess. A latch has a door lock position against the pivot arm, a door unlock position releasing the pivot arm, and a latch projection. A latch operating solenoid is the only solenoid mechanically linked to the latch. A capacitor is supplied by a power supply and is arranged to pulse the latch operating solenoid without pulling down the power supply. The pulsing of the latch operating solenoid by the capacitor causes the latch operating solenoid to move the latch projection of the latch into and out of the latch recess of the pivot arm so that a door is locked and unlocked.
