  • Patent number: 4573333
Abstract: An electric door lock having a return means comprising a pair of locking members, a return member, rod guides, and leaf springs which eliminates the disadvantages of roller type pivot member locks. The lock is thinner to provide improved appearance. The locking members and return member may be connected to each other to ensure more reliable operation. A biasing force is applied to the locking members in the same direction as the pivotal movement of the locking members, and the engaging surface of the locking members does not apply force to the locking levers thereby making it possible to disengage the locking lever from the locking members using only a minimum of magnetic force and consuming only a small amount of electric power which can be conveniently supplied by a small DC battery.

  • Patent number: 4459072
Abstract: A container locking device includes an oblong guiding element fixed on one end of the housing. A round passage extends through the housing from end to end and through the guiding element. A rotatable locking bolt lies in the passage, the locking bolt having a first end extending from the guiding element and a second end extending from the end of the housing opposite the guiding element. An oblong hammer head is fixed on the first end of the locking bolt. A handle is fixed on the second end of the locking bolt. Axial movement of the locking bolt is restrained. The result is a low-cost, reliable, safe container locking device. Stops limit rotation of the locking bolt to an excursion of approximately 90.degree.. The passage is formed with a tube that extends outwardly from the end of the housing opposite the guiding element to space the handle therefrom and thereby facilitate its movement. A removable catch secures the handle in the position where the hammer head is transverse to the guiding element.

Abstract: A pivoting latch and lock for a door hinged in a frame having a strike aperture has a detent latch that can be moved out of the strike opening merely by pulling the door open unless the detent latch is specially blocked against such movement. In one embodiment a frame is installed on the door and presents an edge opening. Normally spring-projected partly through the edge opening is a detent latch having a central body carrying one or more pivot lugs guiding rotation of the detent latch about one or more axes located within the frame and alongside the detent latch. The detent latch has a surface associated with each axis so shaped as to clear the frame opening when the latch is rotated about that axis. A lever is pivoted on the frame to move into and out of a position blocking rotation of the detent latch. The lever may be operated by a solenoid or electromagnet. If desired, the same electrical device can move the two levers of duplicate pivoting latches.

  • Patent number: 3938838
Abstract: A lock for a sliding door comprising a base member fixedly secured to an outer surface of a sliding door guide channel with a leaf member pivotly connected to the base member. The leaf member is pivotable from a position where it is substantially an extention of the base member and the door is freely slidable to a second position substantially perpendicular to the base member and the door is obstructed from movement from a closed to an open position. A translatable locking means carried by the base members is provided to prevent the leaf member from movement from its second position to its first position. An additional stop member is provided for attachment to the door when the door is positioned remote from its outer channel member for engagement with the leaf member when the leaf member is in its second position.
